Chapter 85

Chapter 85

“In such a state, the later we join the fray, the less opportunity we will get,” Candice said in a warm and

polite tone. She was simply showing Ava the situation they were in.

Ava’s expression was still dark as she snorted and said, “Do you think I need you to remind me of

this?”

Candice’s voice was of good cheer as she said, “Of course, you wouldn’t need me to remind you. You

are a very detailed person and can determine the perfect time to invest in the market.”

“All I want to say is that we can’t compare to you when it comes to understanding Stugan City’s market.

Aether is showing you great sincerity in wanting to work with you. Naturally, we hope our partnership is

something that both sides can be happy with.”

Candice’s words were clearly flattery toward Ava, and it effectively eased the atmosphere.

She didn’t want to lose the partnership with Aether, but she was also quite irritated by Alex’s attitude.

What Candice was doing was to give her a chance to fold her cards.

Ava let out a sigh, and Candice was able to calm down as well.

They still needed to wait for a moment before the contract could be signed. Candice then used this

chance to

go to the restroom.

She stood in front of the mirror. The woman reflected in the mirror had a lovely face adorned with

makeup and

a typical corporate smile. but no matter how she looked, the woman looked exhausted.

After a moment, Candice then took out a lipstick from her purse to reapply her makeup. She only left

afterward.

However, she had just turned around a corner after leaving the washroom and saw Alex was picking up

a call.

His face was a little pale. Candice paused a little before walking past him. Then, she heard him sneer,

“Are you that greedy?”

Once they were back at the office, Ava had already prepared the contract. Candice cross-checked it

once

more. When Alex got back to the office, they cross-checked the contract again.

The moment it was signed, Candice relax her furrowed brows a little.

Nina was standing at the side, with her gaze on Alex. “Now that we’re partners, do you want to have

together?”

Alex passed the contract to Candice and didn’t even look at her when he refused, saying, “I have plans

tonight.”

Nina had no choice but to give up.

The reason he had come over to Stugan City was the contract with Ava. Now that the task was

completed, Candice felt like he didn’t need her here anymore.

She gave it a thought and said to Alex, “Now that I’m done with everything here, I want to leave

tonight.”

Alex stopped and looked at his phone before saying with an annoyed tone, “You’re being so direct with

me, but why were you fawning all over Ms. Goodman like a slave just now?”

Candice’s face became pale as she couldn’t help but force a smile.

“Like a slave”. Those were the words Alex had used to describe her.

She closed her eyes and then said, “Mr. Elysian, I…”

Before she could finish, Alex’s phone rang. He didn’t avoid her and picked it up in front of Candice. She

could hear Sieg’s voice from the other side.

She stood by the side, waiting for Alex to finish.

However, her phone suddenly beeped, signaling that there was a new message that came in. She was

stunned

and looked at her phone.

It was a message sent from Hanley with two pictures and an audio recording.

Candice originally wanted to read the transcription, but she accidentally played it on loudspeakers

instead.

Hanley’s clear voice immediately played. “I’m very busy today. You can come over directly in the

afternoon.”

She had been going to Hanley’s place for the last two days and she had just asked him a question this

morning, so Hanley had thought she wanted to come over in the afternoon.

Candice had just wanted to reply to his message when there was a shadow hanging over her. She

couldn’t tell

if there was anger in his tone. “You’re already looking for men when you’ve only stayed in Stugan City

for a

few days?”
