Chapter 36 Outrageous Real Estate Agent
Seeing Lexie’s complex expression, the real estate agent immediately spoke again, “If you think it’s expensive, you can actually negotiate, I think two thousand will work.”
Lexie opened her eyes wide, unable to believe what she had heard.
She hasn’t said a word, but the agent dropped a thousand?
That was outrageous!
Kevin also felt something was wrong and asked bluntly, “Is there something wrong with this house?”
“How can you say that, Sir? You absolutely can’t find a more suitable house in a five kilometer radius, it has no problems at all, and this is a new house that hasn’t been lived in, and the price is so cheap.”
“According to what you’ve said, and what we’ve seen, the rent on this house is a problem.”
The agent’s face stiffened and he looked at Lexie inquisitively, “You guys are thinking it’s too cheap?”
Lexie nodded.
“Well …” the agent scratched his head, “Two thousand is okay.”
Lexie slid on the phone, found out the same neighborhood, the average monthly rent was 15, 000 or so, she could not help but draw a cold breath.
She tugged on Kevin’s sleeve and shook her head.
Kevin understood what she met, “I need to see other house first.”
After saying that, he took Lexie with him and was about to leave.
The agent got anxious and shouted after him, “Then why don’t you name a price and I will rend it to you?”
“…”
Sitting in the car, Lexie looked at the other two house and rental prices sent by the agent and frowned in confusion.
Was the rental market bad right now or was this agent’s business skill questionable? He didn’t offer more than 3, 000 for a four-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment.
“I’m sorry, I think you may not have the house that I need.”
Lexie politely replied the message.
The agent said, “Well, tell me what kind of house you want, I have all kinds here.”
Lexie didn’t reply again and sighed silently as she looked at the chat record on her phone.
She had little money and could only rend a small one-bedroom apartment.
Kevin swept the contents of her phone out of the corner of his eye, “This agent is a bit strange, it’s a good thing I accompanied you here today, otherwise I don’t know what he’s trying to get.”
Lexie nodded in agreement and blacklisted the agent.
“No rush, don’t worry, I’ll help you with this.”Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
[No, thanks, I’ll do it myself.]
Lexie said thanks and looked down and continued to check various rental information on her phone.
She didn’t want to bother Kevin with anything else.
On the other hand, Alan was reading a document in his office.
The assistant Jack answered the phone and then cautiously came over to report the situation, “Mr. Alan, there was a problem with the agency and he was blacklisted by Mrs. Howard.”
Alan frowned, “Can’t even get that done.”
Jack got cold sweat, “The house in your name is really not suitable for renting, and there is no way to fully match the market price …”
Meeting Alan’s cold gaze head-on, Jack changed his tone, “I’ll think of another way.”
Only then did Alan take back his gaze.
Jack sighed silently, embarrassed.
Who was the boss trying to force? He’d married, there was nothing wrong with caring for his wife, just arrange it himself. Why go through all this trouble?
“By the way, Mr. Alan, Mr. Stanley called during your meeting this afternoon.”
Alan responded, “What did Grandpa say?”
“He has arrived at the summer resort and asked you to come over for a meal this weekend.”
“What else did he say?”
“He asked you to bring your wife with you.”
Alan frowned slightly.
In the evening, after accompanying Grandma to dinner, Lexie went back to Howard’s.
It was late at night when she arrived home, and the Howard family’s servants were all resting, so Lexie was relieved, and gingerly went back to her room to get a change of clothes.
While packing up, she saw my mother’s belongings, the small black square box.
Thinking about Grandma’s words, her intuition told her that the box had a secret.
As she was flipping through the box, the sound of the door opening next door came from outside.
Alan’s study was next door.
He was home?
Lexie was startled, shoving the box back to the bottom of the closet.
After a while, the movement faded away, but Lexie was uneasy, hesitantly opened the door, and then saw the light on in the kitchen downstairs, and a long shadow fell from the doorway.
This was actually not the first time Lexie had seen him go downstairs alone in the middle of the night to boil water.
There were servants in the house, but Alan did not ask the servants to do it.
“Is snooping also a task given to you by Peter?” A cold voice came from the kitchen.
Lexie winced and snapped back to her senses, holding onto the stairs and wondering if she should go downstairs or back at this moment.
“Make tea and send it to the study,” after instructing, Alan set the half-unpacked tea pot on the table and turned to go up the stairs from the other side.
Lexie stood for a while and went downstairs to make tea.
Alan was used to drinking oolong tea in the evenings at the office, the first habit of his that she knew of after she married over.
The scent of tea spread through the study, with a light creaminess.
“I heard your grandma’s surgery is over?”
Lexie had originally put down her teacup and was about to leave, but Alan called out to her, and she raised her head, her gaze apprehensive as she nodded.
“Want to do what I want you to do yet?”
Lexie clenched her hand, looking a bit clueless.
“Peter is having a birthday banquet at the end of this month, and here’s the invitation.”
A gray invitation was slowly pushed from across the desk, stopping in front of Lexie, and Alan’s slender fingers pressed on it with great force.
“It’s being held at the wine estate on the western outskirts of your family, and if I guessed correctly, Peter’s safe deposit box is inside that estate.”
Lexie’s hand holding the invitation trembled slightly.
Why did Alan know so much about the Mitchell family’s affairs?
[How do you know?]
Alan gave her a look and said, “When the time comes, all you need to do is avoid the guests and make a trip to Peter’s study, then find the safe deposit box.”
Lexie said, [Even if I can find the safe, I don’t have the password, I can’t open it.]
“That’s not for you to think about.”
Lexie didn’t understand Alan’s intention with her finding the safe? If she couldn’t open the safe, it would be a waste to find it, but for the sake of her grandma, she could only nod and agree.
“Take this,” Alan handed her a card, “there’s no password.”
Lexie froze, casting a surprised glance towards Alan.
Was he doing her a favor?
Without waiting for Lexie to reach out, Alan threw that card directly onto the table.
The “snap” rang out with a sound that was not too loud, but alarming.
“I want to be the first to know if Peter threatens you again in the future and makes you do something.”
Lexie bit her lips tightly, and the touch that hadn’t yet come out of her heart was instantly vanished.
So that was it.
