Chapter 1187
Chapter 1187
Nicolas hit the gas, tailing the black BMW
It was late at night, and the roads were relatively empty. Both of them were on edge and careful not to raise any suspicion from the car they were following
But everything went smoothly. The occupants of the car seemed unaware of the tail.
Apparently, they were in a hurry and had no time to check their surroundings.
They followed the car all the way from downtown to the old part of the city in the south, where it pulled up in front of a kindergarten.
Next, Angel got out of the car, carrying a little boy into the kindergarten.
The two in the car shared a laugh.
Trisha whispered, “Why the hell is Angel taking her little brother to kindergarten at this ungodly hour?”
Nicolas furrowed his brows, “Let’s stick around and see”
Angel came out about twenty minutes later alone
She got in the car and sped off. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Trisha was even more puzzled, “Why didn’t she take her brother back home?”
Nicolas frowned, and then it dawned on him. He chuckled, “Well, that’s a dead giveaway.”
“What’s up? What did you figure out?”
Nicolas patted her head, “We’ve hit the jackpot. Time to ask Liam for our reward.”
Trisha swatted his hand away, “Spill it, what happened?”
Nicolas grinned, “Shawn Campbell might not have a son.”
Trisha was taken aback, “You mean, the kid isn’t his?”
Nicolas nodded, “We need to tell Mr. Campbell the good news ASAP
With that, he dialed a number
“Hey, it’s me Who’s in charge of the power supply in the old part of the city near New Garden? Can you get them to cut the power for an hour?”
“Yeah, I’ve got some things to handle. Just put any complaints on my tab. Thanks.”
Trisha looked at him in shock, “Are you really going rogue like this?”
Nicolas laughed, “I bet I just skyrocketed on your coolness scale, didn’t I?”
Trisha made a disgusted face.
In reality, this was an old residential area with no major businesses or buildings, and it was nighttime, not peak power usage hours. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be able to pull this off
Just after he hung up, all the lights around them went out, plunging the streets into darkness. The only light came from the screens of people’s phones.
“Come on, let’s get out and get to work.”
Trisha had no idea what they were supposed to do, but she followed him anyway.
As soon as they got out of the car, Nicolas took her hand.
The warmth from his hand surprised Trisha. Then she heard Nicolas say cheekily, “Hold on tight; I wouldn’t want to lose you after we’re done.” Trisha huffed, “I’m not a child; I can find my way home”
Despite her words, she held onto his hand tightly.
Nicolas squeezed her hand, feeling particularly pleased.
This was an old residential area with mostly single–story homes. When the power went out, people were used to gathering in the streets.
Partly because it was too dark and boring indoors, and also to chat with neighbors and find out why the power was out
