Chapter 136
Chapter 136
Skyler frowned and asked, “Am I that uptight? You guys need to behave. With so many people watching the Reed family, her behavior will make people think we’re all a bunch of savages!”
Liam, annoyed by her nagging, turned to Celeste and said, “Water, please.”
Celeste handed him the water she’d just bought.
Liam took a couple of sips, and seeing his pale face, Skyler dropped the subject and asked him, “Why are you at the hospital so early?”
“Just visiting a friend, Liam answered briefly, then asked her, “Why’d you bring her in for a checkup again? Didn’t she just have one two months ago?”
Speaking of this, Skyler calmed down and said, “Nothing much, just a routine checkup. She’s been taking the medication for so long, so we want to see if it’s working. My friend’s daughter-in-law is almost due, and they got married last year. You guys have been married for three years, and I’m getting anxious for you”
This remark was obviously blaming Celeste.
Liam said expressionlessly. “It’s not like we can force it to happen. She’s been taking the medication for so long, and it hasn’t worked. Maybe she’s taken too much and that’s why she can’t get pregnant.”
Although she didn’t like the medication, Liam’s words were a bit too much.
She couldn’t get pregnant because he didn’t want to have sex with her!
They barely had sex, and he deliberately avoided her ovulation period. Even if she was highly fertile, she couldn’t get pregnant without his cooperation.
As expected. Skyler got angry. “What do you mean, taking too much medication prevents pregnancy? Do you know how hard I’ve worked to get those? Whom I’m doing all this for? If she could get pregnant, would I be interfering like this?”
Seeing that the two were about to start arguing, Celeste quickly tried to mediate, “Mom, don’t be angry. I’m taking the medication on time. Have some
water”
Skyler brushed her hand away and said coldly, “Fine, I’ll mind my own business. You guys can handle your own affairs from now on, so I don’t have to worry and be blamed by you!”
With that, she left angrily.
As soon as she was gone, Celeste dropped the act and said indifferently, “Call your assistant to pick you up. I’m leaving.”
Liam’s face darkened, “Are you just going to leave me like this after hitting me?”
“It’s just a bloody nose, right? I didn’t break your arm or leg. What else do you want me to do? Hold you like a baby?” Celeste said.
Liam’s face turned gloomy, “Do you even have a conscience? Who was I just standing up for?”
“I have been very conscientious. We were on the verge of divorce, yet I still went along with the act, pretending to be a family with you, only to be humiliated by your mother with a nonexistent accusation!” Celeste didn’t know why that particular remark struck a chord with her, perhaps because she had been
suppressing her feelings for a long time, and once she found an outlet, she couldn’t stop. “You were bleeding, and everyone was worried about you. Some even vented their anger on me because of you! And what about me? I had a car accident, but I couldn’t even get in contact with you! Do you know how it felt when the nurse asked why there were no family members showed up? I thought to myself, if I were to die in the hospital, would there even be anyone to claim my body?”
Liam’s expression turned cold, and he clenched his lips. After a moment, he said, “Why didn’t you tell me about the accident on the phone that day?”Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
