Chapter 35: False Accusations
The loud horn of a vehicle startled Brandon and Kathlyn as they dined together in the villa’s garden. They turned their heads in unison, their eyes widening as they spotted the exquisite limo parked just a few feet away. The sleek white exterior and tinted windows created an air of mystery and intrigue.
“OMG! Is that a Limo?” Kathlyn’s eyes glistered as she took in the magnificent sight.
“Oh, Brandon, is this part of the surprise tonight? How did you know I’ve always wanted to get inside one? Did you hire it just to fulfill my dream and make me happy?” She continues to stare between Brandon and the Limo with puppy eyes.
Her heart fluttered with anticipation of entering the majestic White Limo to ride around town. She also couldn’t wait to post online about her fiance adoring her with lots of gifts and surprises before their wedding.
Meanwhile, Brandon’s eyebrow furrowed with confusion. As much as he would love to take the credit, the car’s arrival unfortunately had nothing to do with him. Just as he was about to say something, two hefty bodyguards dressed in black tuxedos got down. One of them proceeded to stride towards the back door, opening it to reveal its occupant.
“KKourtney??” Kathlyn let out a loud and irritating shriek.
In a matter of seconds, her once enthusiastic and happy expressions had turned ugly, convinced that this was yet another attempt by Kourtney to gain attention from Brandon.
Brandon, on the other hand, was rendered speechless. Only a few selected high-class individuals had a pass to own this particular model of vehicle in this city. Just how did Kourtney manage to ride in one? He couldn’t help but feel a surge of curiosity.
Kourtney stepped out of the Limo with an air of elegance without even trying as her long brown hair cascaded down her shoulders sweetly. No doubt, the title of Mrs Woods suited her so well. She looked pretty stunning just like an ethereal beauty even in her professional work outfit.
Kathlyn, however, was seething with jealousy. Her eyes narrowed as she stormed forward, glaring daggers at Kourtney while her voice dripped with venom.
“Where did you rent this Limo, Big Sister? Because you knew we were having our date here, and you wanted to show off, right? You’re that desperate to get Brandon to notice you again, isn’t it?”
Kourtney’s eyes widened in surprise, taken aback by Kathlyn and Brandon’s presence in the garden. She hadn’t even noticed either of them until now, rather, she had been in deep thought, focusing on her own complicated life. It seems like she could never truly avoid running into these two.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Kathlyn,” Kourtney shrugged, wanting to turn away and head inside the villa. She didn’t plan to waste her precious time on them.
“Oh really? First, you bought a fake diamond ring that looks like the “Forever Promise” from a street vendor, then you showed up at the hospital where you knew Brandon and I were going for our baby’s scan, and now hiring a Limo from God knows where just to crash our romantic dinner date? Just how desperate can you be?” Kathlyn was practically in a frenzy.
One would think that Kourtney just stole her place in Heaven. Even the resentment in her eyes was glaring. If looks could kill, Kourtney would probably be dead, gone, and buried by now.
Kourtney also wanted to scream at the top of her lungs and defend herself against Kathlyn’s baseless accusations. But she knew better than to engage in such a pointless argument. Taking a deep breath, she responded calmly, hoping to diffuse the situation.
“Kathlyn, I understand that you’re upset, but none of what you’re saying is true. I did not buy the ring to get you or Brandon’s attention. And as for the hospital, I had no idea you would be there. I went because I had my own appointment. And this Limo? I had no idea you two would be having your date outside tonight. It’s purely coincidental that we packed right in front of you guys, Okay?”
Kathlyn’s anger seemed to intensify at Kourtney’s denial. She crossed her arms, tapping her foot impatiently. “Such lame excuses coming from you. I really underestimated you, dear sister. You…”
Brandon finally broke his silence, his voice laced with confusion as he cut off Kathlyn’s rantings. “Wait, Kourtney, how did you even manage to get this Limo? It’s not something that’s easily accessible.”
Kourtney offered a small smile, choosing her words carefully. “Let’s just say that sometimes life surprises us in unexpected ways. I didn’t plan for this, but I appreciate the experience nonetheless.”
The tension in the air was detectable as Kathlyn struggled to process the situation. Her jealousy had reached a new climax from this event. Deep down, she knew that Kourtney truly wasn’t the type to intentionally create drama or try to gain attention. ‘Just what is going on with her?’
Right from their nursery school days, Kathlyn was always the one who craved attention from others while Kourtney just didn’t care. So why would she care enough now? The thought kept eating her up like an inner parasite she couldn’t get rid of.
“You still didn’t answer the question. What shady methods did you use as a means to get a ride in it? Why don’t you go straight to the point and tell us, Kourtney?”This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.
Kourtney rolled her eyes. “Don’t worry, Kathlyn. You’d find out about my ‘shady method’ real soon.”
With those words hanging in the air, Kourtney turned to walk away from the confrontation. She had no desire to stoop to their level. Her voice was laced with a hint of mystery, leaving Kathlyn and Brandon perplexed.
Enraged by Kourtney’s nonchalant response, Kathlyn’s jealousy turned into a burning fury. As usual, she couldn’t stand the idea of Kourtney outshining her in any way. Even after stealing Brandon, she still wasn’t satisfied with how things were turning out. She couldn’t stand the idea of Kourtney being happy, despite the messy breakup that Kathlyn herself had caused.
Kathlyn had purposely planned the outdoor dinner with Brandon at the entrance of the mansion because she knew Kourtney would be getting back from work around the same time by 5:30 pm. However, she did not expect to be surprised by Kourtney’s grand entrance in a fancy Limo. Her mind raced with thoughts of revenge and humiliation.
In her desperation to regain control, Kathlyn decided to stoop even lower. With a sinister glimmer in her eyes, she lunged forward to block Kourtney, grabbing onto her arm tightly, her nails digging into her skin. Her voice dripped with disdain as she spoke.
“You’re such a disappointment, Big Sister. Hanging out with old, rich sugar daddies is the only way you could ever get into a car like this, right? And to think everyone thinks of you as the good young mistress of our family. Mum and Dad would be so ashamed to call you their daughter once everyone finds out what you’ve been up to.”
Kourtney winced in pain, trying to free herself from Kathlyn’s grip with force. However, Kathlyn cunningly played her final card. In one swift motion, she released Kourtney’s arm and stumbled backward, making it seem like Kourtney had pushed her to the floor forcefully.
After falling to the ground dramatically, she clutched her stomach as if in agony.
Brandon, who had been silently observing from the sidelines, quickly rushed to her aide. “HONEY, are you okay?”
Still clutching her pregnant belly, Kathlyn feigned vulnerability, letting out a weak cry. “It hurts, Brandon. It hurts!”
Her Emmy award-winning act was so convincing that anyone would have taken her side.
“Look at what she’s done! She attacked me, knowing I was pregnant and weak. She’s trying to make me lose our baby!”
In the heat of the moment, Brandon, fueled by his loyalty to Kathlyn, lashed out, shoving Kourtney to the ground with a forceful push. The thought that she was most probably spending time with other men just days after their breakup also fueled his anger.
He believed that she had indeed crossed a line by associating herself with older, wealthy men to gain his attention.
Kathlyn smirked, her eyes gleaming with triumph as Kourtney stumbled to the ground, her body crashing against the pavement with a loud thud.
