Chapter 31 A Sudden Invitation.
Chapter 31 A Sudden Invitation.
Lillianna was equally perplexed as Lacey.
It turned out Theo and Sam were cousins!
"Remember to call your mother. She's worried about you." Sam reminded Theo.
"My cell phone's run out of battery. Don't worry, nothing bad will happen to me. At least, that's what I
believe." Theo chuckled. He then frowned at Lillianna and asked, "Is she the daughter-in-law Aunt Tilly
mentioned?"
"Yeah," Sam replied blandly.
"Twins are truly amazing!" Theo couldn't help but scan Lacey and Lillianna back and forth.
"Sam, is this the cousin you mentioned working on Xeoct Hills with?" Lillianna asked with a curious
frown.
"Yes," Sam responded.
"I see. I didn't know you were Mr. Henderson. Please forgive my negligence."
Lillianna smiled awkwardly. Terror overwhelmed her at that moment.
Theo Henderson was the only child of Vlakron's richest man, Freddie Henderson. He was also the only
nephew of Lillianna's mother-in-law-to-be.
He lived abroad for many years. Despite being younger than Sam, his business mind was anything but
simple.
In fact, he had made a fortune by investing in several foreign projects.
Not to mention that he and Sam had collaborated two years prior to create a resort mainly for the
wealthy.
Now that the resort's construction was complete, he'd flown in from abroad to confirm the project with
Sam.
"By the way, Sam, didn't you say you were leaving today?" Theo turned to Sam and asked in
puzzlement.
Preempting to answer, Lillianna timidly replied, "Sam said he wouldn't be going on any more business
trips but taking me to the resort. Mr. Henderson, are you coming with us this afternoon, or are you Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
staying with your family for a few days?"
Sam lowered his head, noting the expectant look in her eyes. He felt guilty and clutched her close as
he recalled how he had betrayed her that night.
It was one of the reasons he had decided not to travel abroad but to spend time with Lillianna at the
resort.
"What are your plans?" Sam asked Theo.
"What are my plans, you ask? Well, I thought you would be away for a few days and had decided to
wait for your return with Aunt Tilly. But now that you've changed your mind let's head over together. I'd
only visit Aunt Tilly after we got back from the resort. Oh yeah, why don't you come along with us,
Lacey?" After answering, Theo turned the question to Lacey.
Lacey, who had been glowering, was taken aback by his sudden call.
"Why don't you join us since Lillianna is also going? Xeoct Hills is an interesting place. Besides, Sam
had mentioned that he'd be bringing a few friends over. It'll be fun!" Theo's face lit up with excitement.
Lillianna, on the other hand, felt the opposite. She frowned at the idea.
"Are you sure you want me to go?" Lacey looked into Theo's eager eyes and asked. She couldn't help
but raise an eyebrow when she noticed Lillianna's wary expression.
"Yes! After all, you are my girlfriend. Wouldn't it be great if we could all go together?" Theo beamed
with delight.
Lacey gave an awkward smile. Was this guy an actor? How had he gotten into the scene so quickly?
"Mr. Henderson, Lacey may not be available." Lillianna bit her bottom lip as she tried to explain, "Our
father has just enrolled her in school. She may have to go to school to adjust to her new surroundings."
Chuckled, she added, "Unlike me, I've already applied for school leave."
"That is not an issue. I can help her in requesting school leave as well—" Just as Theo was trying to
help, Lacey cut off his sentence.
"I didn't bring any extra clothes," she said.
"What?" Theo was caught off guard.
"I said I hadn't made any preparations. It looks like they have their bags ready to go. Will we still make
it if I go back and pack?" She looked at Theo with an innocent smile.
"Does that mean you're willing to come with us? That's fantastic! There's no need to prepare anything.
Tell me your favorite color, and I'll arrange clothes for you." Theo was thrilled.
"Me? Well, I'm a fan of yellow!"
Lacey glanced to Sam as she spoke.
Yellow represented a man like him, a betrayer!
"Yellow is a lovely, delicate color. Don't worry. The clothes will be ready once we get off the plane."
Theo was glad that Lacey was willing to come along.
"Also, I like green. The kind that looks like grass and is bright—" Lacey smiled as she glanced at
Lillianna. "That color suits you too, because—" It symbolized infidelity.
Before she could finish her sentence, Sam grabbed her wrist. His obsidian eyes were ablaze with
rage.
"Because it'll make your skin appear fairer!" Lacey looked at her wrist and chuckled. Her eyes turned
crescent-shaped.
Sam's behavior astounded everyone.
"Hand your ID to Theo. He'll. Book. You. The. Ticket." Sam's temperament was cold as ice.
"Oh, thanks for reminding me, my dear brother-in-law!" Lacey smiled.
Sam violently shook her wrist away. He then took Lillianna in his arms and entered the restaurant.
