Chapter 58 No One Was Holding Anyone Back
Chapter 58 No One Was Holding Anyone Back
The elevator doors opened slowly. The garage was cold, even colder than it was on the surface level.
Pearl didn't like here. Once she came out, she thought of meeting with Helena yesterday.
Richard's assistant was standing in front of the car. As soon as he saw Pearl, he nodded to her politely.
Then he opened the door and said, "Dr. Yonng, please."
Richard was in the car.
The car drove out of the garage and left Jackson Hospital. Outside the window, the trees in the suburbs
quickly passed. It was very quiet in the car. The air conditioner was set to a very low temperature.
Rubbing her arms, Pearl felt a little cold.
Shortly after the car started driving, Pearl's phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, she subconsciously
glanced at Richard, only to see that he was leaning against the back of his chair and closing his eyes to
rest. It seemed like he didn't pay attention to her, so she answered the call and said in a low voice,
"Hello?"
At the other end came the voice of Alex, a little anxious, "Pearl, where are you now? I just finished an
operation and heard that you were injured. Are you okay?"
"It's all right. It's already bandaged it."
"Are you still at the set? I'll go look for you and send you home to rest.
"It's okay. I'm on my way back now."
He was relieved, "Ok. Go back and have a good rest. I'll see you later."
"It's okay, I..." Pearl was about to ask him not to worry about her when the hair on the back of her neck
stood up. Her intuition had always been accurate as she noticed Richard's eyes were staring at her. His
gaze was calm and made her feel guilty.
Immediately, she could hardly continue, so she hung up the phone hurriedly.
"Alex?"
Richard's cold voice came next to her.
"Yes." Pearl managed a forced nod and said.
He really cares about you. Wherever you go, he will follow you. He hasn't changed after all
these years. "
"You misunderstood. He came toJackson Hospital for an academic symposium. It has nothing to do
with me."
"Really?" Richard sneered. "Why you explained so much to me?"
His words made Pearl stunned and embarrassed for a time. It seemed that she cared more about his
opinion. That was why she explained about Alex to him.
So it seemed that Richard was still the same as before. He was competitive and would seize time to
strike whenever he could.
He didn't say anything more. Richard started to rest after sneering at Pearl.
The summer afternoons could make people feel sleepy. Looking at the moving scenes outside, Pearl's
eyelids felt heavy.
She had no idea when she had fallen asleep. She even had a vague dream.
Richard kept awake. Seeing Pearl curled up and hugging herself, he frowned. Then he raised the
temperature and instructed the driver to drive a little slower.
Adriana called him, when they were about to arrive downtown.
Checking who is calling, Richard glanced at Pearl and pressed the answer button.
"Richard, Won't yo be at the company? Hattie prepared some soup and sent it over to the company.
She came back and said that she didn't see you." Adriana's voice sounded gentle as it usually would.
"I visited the crew. I'll go back later."
"Well. The soup's in the refrigerator. I'll remind the secretary to heat it up and you can drink it."
"Okay. Thank you."
"Don't mention it. We'll have dinner with Helena on Friday. I've prepared some gifts. Could you help me
choose one later?"
"Ok."
"Alright. I'll hang up."
"Ok."
The call didn't last long. It only took two minutes. This was how he communicated with Adriana all these
years.
The biggest difference between Adriana and Pearl was that Pearl was always the center of attention in
her world. While, to Adriana, that would be Richard.
Adriana was always careful and tactful. She always made sure not to make any trouble for Richard.
Even for the gifts to be prepared for the weekly family party and the birthday of her mother and
grandmother, she had always carefully prepared them in advance without bothering him.
Richard looked at the sleeping Pearl next to him. His expression was complex.
If only he met Adriana first instead of Pearl, maybe his life for the past seven years would have been
much better. He must have owed Pearl a lot in his past life.
Pearl was sleeping soundly. She turned around and continue to sleep. It seemed like the phone call he
answered did not affect her much.
Richard leaned back on his seat and closed his eyes.
Pearl opened her eyes and stared at her reflection on the car window. A pair of dark eyes were flooded
with great loss. Although she tried her best to suppress that emotion, she still felt very uncomfortable. Content © NôvelDrama.Org.
The car was so quiet that she could hear not only what Richard said, but also the voice of Adriana on
the phone.
It was true. No one was holding anyone back. They has their own lives now.
After half an hour, the car arrived at the gate to the building of Pearl's community.
By the window on the 20th floor, Bonny was lying on the balcony, looking out with a telescope and a
lollipop in her mouth. When she saw the black car downstairs, her eyes widened and she turned to
shout, "Brandon! Brandon, come quickly."
"What's the matter?" Brandon, who was playing games in the living room, looked up at the balcony.
"It's Daddy's car!"
Brandon frowned. He put down the game controller, and went straight to the balcony.
Bonny handed the telescope to Brandon, and said excitedly with a lollipop in her hand, "Look, isn't it
Daddy's car? I saw Mommy too. Daddy sent Mommy back."
Brandon took over the telescope and looked down. Sure enough, he saw Richard's car and Pearl was
bending over to say something to Richard in the car. He could see it clearly through the telescope.
"Daddy must have dated Mommy. I'm going to take a closer look!" As she spoke, Bonny was going to
run out.
Brandon grabbed her arm quickly.
"Brandon, Let me go." Bonny struggled with dissatisfaction and was very worried. "If you don't let me
go, it'll be too late."
"You can't go." Brandon looked serious, like an adult. "Mommy has a lot to worry about recently. Don't
cause her any more trouble. Also, Bonny, I've told you many times. Richard is not our Daddy so don't
call him that."
"Yes, he is." Bonny pouted. "He is our Daddy Brandon, let me go."
Bonny was very self-willed since childhood, especially in front of Brandon. She always pestered
Brandon endlessly, anyway, Brandon won't care about her in the end. "
But today, Brandon was particularly stubborn. He just grabbed her arm and didn't let go until the black
car in the telescope turned around and left the community. He loosened his grip and said, "Left already.
go if you want."
Seeing that, Bonny sat down on the carpet angrily with her legs kicking the carpet into a mess.
"Brandon, you've gone too far! Don't you care about Mommy's love life at all?" She said with her little
face flushed.
