Chapter 125
Chapter 125
The phone rang peralstently before the call was finally answered. Clara’s cool, distant volce came through the receiver, “Mr. Hayes, what can I do for you?”
lan mustered his energy and said, “Nothing, just wanted to hear your voice.”
Clara frowned, “Do you find this amusing, Mr. Hayes? It was you who said you were done with this, and now you’re the one who can’t let go. What is it about me that you can’t shake off? If there’s something to change, I’ll change it, okay?” Her tone was chilly and tinged with impatience.
Ian closed his eyes in agony, his hand clutching his hair tightly to keep himself alert. “Clara, that night must have been very painful for you, huh?” His voice was weak, and his simple words were fragmented. Each word was laden with unmistakable pain.
Clara laughed bitterly, “You don’t have to keep reminding me, Mr. Hayes. I’m tainted. I know that much. I won’t harbor any inappropriate thoughts toward you anymore.”
“Clara.”
lan softly called out, “If I also experienced the pain you went through that night, could forgive me?”
Without mercy, Clara replied, “No, I can never forget the words you spoke to me that night.” She didn’t wait for lan’s response and hung up the phone abruptly.

lan listened to the dial tone, a sardonic smile on his face. He knew Clara would never forgive him. His heart ached tremendously, and a mouthful of blood spurted from his lips, splattering the white sheets. Instantly, the sheets were stained red.
Dr. Lee, seeing his painful struggle, kindly suggested, “Mr. Hayes, you can’t go on like this. Though you’ve lost a lot of blood, your situation isn’t the same as Clara’s. You’ve been drinking. The effect of the medication is twice as strong. If something goes wrong, what will Rose do? My medicine can alleviate some of the pain. Would you like to try it?”
As he spoke, he wiped lan’s body with a cold cloth, trying to comfort him. lan didn’t heed his words and writhed in agony on the bed.
Rose, standing outside, saw his condition, and tears streamed down her face in distress. After what felt like an eternity, she couldn’t bear it any longer and dialed Clara’s number. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Clara had just finished dinner with Anders‘ parents and was about to head out when her phone rang. Seeing an unfamiliar number, she hesitated before answering.
“Clara, where are you?” a familiar voice asked as soon as she picked up.
Hearing Rose’s voice, Clara responded with a smile, “Granny Rose, I’m out for dinner. Is everything okay?”

Rose’s voice cracked, “Can you come to the Lancaster Mansion? I’ve run into a bit of trouble here.”
Rose had once shown her kindness, and Clara saw no reason to refuse such a request.
“I’m nearby. What floor are you on? I’ll come to you.”
“I’m in room 808 on the 8th floor. Please hurry, I’ll be waiting for you.”
“Alright, I’m on my way.”
After hanging up, Clara excused herself from the table, and with Anders in tow, they made their way upstairs. Upon their arrival, they learned that lan had been drugged with an aphrodisiac.
When Clara saw lan writhing in pain on the bed, she instantly understood the meaning behind his words on the phone.
Her heart was stabbed with a sharp pang of pain.
Her hands, hanging by her sides, gradually turned ice–cold.
Her mind was flooded with the agony she had endured that fateful night.
Rose wiped away her tears and pleaded, “Clara, for my sake, can you save lan?”
Clara’s eyes moistened as she looked at her, whispering, “Granny Rose.”
Rose held her hand, tears streaming down her face. “I know lan has wronged you. He has done many terrible things to you, but for my sake, could you help him through this?”
