Chapter 479
“But pride got the better of me, and I suggested we break up. I was determined to make it on my own merit. Now, I've made it, but she won't forgive me. I've lost my true love."
The look on his face told Sasha that he was truly smitten.
Patting his shoulder, she said with a playful grin, "Spill the beans. Who's this girl? I'll help you win her back. There's no heart I can't charm."
Jackson's laugh was tinged with melancholy. "She's too proud to look back. I've tried, but it was no use."
"Who is she, some high-society debutante?"
Jackson hesitated, then replied, "Forget it. Her family is way out of our league."
Sasha was about to press on when the director called out, "You two, hurry up. Wrap it up, and we can grab a bite."

For safety reasons, Clara stayed in the hospital for over a month.
She didn't leave until she was fully recovered.
She was four months pregnant, and her belly was now visibly round.
After being cooped up for so long, Clara was going stir-crazy. As they drove past a shopping mall, she couldn't help but look at Ian with pleading eyes. Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
"Honey, I'd love to pick out some things for the baby, and oh, I'm really craving hot stew."
Ian wanted to refuse because of safety concerns, but seeing the hope in her eyes, he couldn't bear to say no.
Pinching her cheeks, which had become adorably plump, he spoke in a stern voice, "No wandering off. It's still dangerous out there, got it?"
Clara obediently nodded. "I know."
They parked in the underground lot of the mall, with bodyguards in tow.
The couple headed straight to the baby store on the first floor. The cute little garments enchanted Clara.
Looking up at Ian, she asked, "Honey, do you think we're having a boy or a girl?"
Ian was touched by the joy in her eyes as he gently caressed her head. "Whichever you like, we can take home. If not for now, there's always the future, right?"
At his words, Clara's eyes sparkled. "But what if I can't conceive again? I'm worried this might be my only chance."
"Nonsense," he boasted with a chuckle. "How many kids do you want? With a dad like me, I can make it happen."
Clara laughed, "You're so full of yourself, but I do wish for more little ones."
They bought heaps of stuff, which the bodyguards loaded into the car, and then they enjoyed a hearty meal at the hot stew place upstairs.
As they left, a shadowy figure in the corner watched their departure, his face darkening.
"Ian, you think you can have a happy life? I won't allow it," he muttered.
His aide whispered, "Sir, their security is tight. We can't get close."
"Leonora is still in play. We'll use her when the time comes."
"But her trial's next month, and with the evidence against her, she's facing the death penalty. How can we get her out?"
The man smirked, "There's always a way. I can turn a dead woman alive if I have to."
He leaned in and whispered a plan so cunning that the aide, upon hearing it, looked at him in awe. "Sir, that's brilliant."
