Chapter 1476 Bury The Hatchet
Chapter 1476 Bury The Hatchet
Darren saw the expression of loneliness written on Todd's face; he understood how he felt, more than
most.
"Sir, you went against Murray to save me. I don't know how I could possibly repay your kindness and
how to tell you how grateful I am," Darren said, disbelieving. He was deeply moved and thankful for
Todd.
Todd shook his head, smiling bitterly, and said, "As a human being, I think the survival of our race
comes before all else. Murray was wrong and wasn't thinking clearly. I did what I had to. I knew both of
us would die by the end of the battle. All I could think of was that after I died, I wouldn't feel guilty for
Murray's death.
To tell you the truth, even if I had survived, I would have killed myself to make up for it, as a tribute to
him. We were as close as brothers, after all."
Both Darren and the Rule Soul Avatar stood in silence, respectfully. Murray and Todd's friendship had
stood the test of time for tens of thousands of years.
"Sir, do you mean that we should treat and cure him?" asked Darren.
"How about this? Xavier and I will take Murray. I will arrange a place far from here for him to be held. In
that way, once he wakes up, there will be no chance he will get in your way as any enemy would. As for
the future... I will stand by my principles."
"Do as you must. I must admit that I can't bear to see him die like this. It's just that he is a little
stubborn," Darren said.
Todd's admiration for Darren was even deeper now. Murray had tried many times to take his life and
yet he was still so forgiving of him. Darren was a truly admirable being.
"No, thanks,"
a hoarse voice said suddenly.
The figure in black armor then stood up.
He still looked graceful and handsome, despite his pale face.
"Captain!"
Todd shouted, instinctively getting up and standing in front of the rising figure.
"How can you still call me captain?" Murray responded coldly.
"Captain..." Todd said bitterly. "No matter what you may think or do, you will always be my captain."
"You are incredibly stubborn yourself. Just call me Murray." Murray, who had been so ill-tempered and
flat, now suddenly grinned.
Todd was stunned by what he was hearing and tears welled up in his eyes. "You do not blame me for
anything anymore? Murray!"
"Hmm." Murray heaved a huge sigh and spoke. "I heard everything you just said. All this trouble was
caused because I was too stubborn. These two peerless geniuses, Darren and Xavier, are the future of
the human race. Going against them would be going against all I once stood for. I would be abandoning
all I wanted and hoped for. I have done many things wrong in my time, but I'm not the type of person
who recognizes his mistake and does nothing to correct them. Do you understand?"
"Yes, I understand. Thank you, Murray. Thank you." Todd could see the change that had taken place
within Murray. He knew he would never be Darren's enemy again!
"Thank you, Todd," Murray said slowly.
He then moved over to Todd one careful step at a time, and gave him a sincere hug.
"Ha-ha. This is great. I apologize to you, sir. I hope we can work together from now on to make
contribution to the human race." Darren was overjoyed.
"Stop right there. How dare you call me a narrow-minded fool before? Like a frog at the bottom of the
well?" Murray turned around to look Darren in the face.
"Ahem, I just said what I had to to survive. Ha-ha," Darren said smiling.
"Even so, you should never have said that. You must repay me for the offence you caused me. You
made me so angry," Murray said with a dead straight face.
"Of course, sir, if you need anything, please tell me. As long as it is within my power, I will use all my
strength to make it happen and compensate you," Darren said hurriedly and politely, cupping his
hands.
"Okay then. Please confer a title on me. A general sounds about right," Murray said with a wry smile.
"Well..." Darren was shocked. He understood what Murray was actually asking and he could scarcely
believe it. Murray wished to be his subordinate and help him on his mission!
He was choosing to follow behind and support Darren, which was a surprising and magnificent gift, as
Darren saw it.
"Huh? So you do not want to compensate me for the damage you caused?"
"Seeing as you are the best spear wielder among us and Todd's best friend, I would not dare grant you
that title," Darren announced, smiling cheekily.
"Darren, you've granted a title to my other friend, Juan, too. He has been cultivating martial arts for a
very long time, even longer than Murray," Todd added with a faint, mischievous smile.
Juan was a reclusive cultivator who had cultivated much longer than Murray had.
Darren's face then washed over with seriousness and he asked Murray, "Sir, are you serious?"
"Of course I am. You're too weak now and Todd nominally belongs to Juan's force. I am the only one
who can help you. Any other opinions and issues you have?"
"No. Thank you for your help, sir," Darren responded, not mincing words.
Darren then activated the emperor law and began to make an announcement according to the previous
oath of conferment. Murray had the title of the Peace General in the Chaotic Region conferred upon
him.
Peace was Murray's ultimate pursuit and so Darren felt it made sense to confer this title on him. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
As for the fief, he was given the First Dangerous Area.
"The territory you've granted me sucks. I don't even want to lay my eyes on that wretched mess,"
Murray said glancing at Darren miserably and helplessly.
"That was our fault. You only have us to blame for the state of it." Todd patted Murray on his shoulder
and they both exchanged pleasant smiles.
They remained there for more than a month and Murray's injury was fully healed by the Rule Soul
Avatar's full treatment.
Darren's life was not in danger anymore. He could now finally deal with the matter of Yolanda.
They discussed it for a while and the Rule Soul Avatar came up with a plan to break through the
Second Dangerous Area.
"Xavier, are you confident it will work?" Murray thought it was a bit unbelievable and outlandish after he
heard the plan.
According to the Rule Soul Avatar, with his ability he could cut off half the law that sealed the Second
Dangerous Area, and Todd and Murray would take care of the rest.
The Rule Soul Avatar nodded at Murray as he explained the plan.
"You're so incredible. When it comes to anything related to the laws, there is nothing that can stop you,"
Murray praised.
Todd thought for a while and said, "Breaking the gate to the Second Dangerous Area is only the first
step. Once we're in, then comes the real danger. There are many metal creatures guarding it; they will
be no walk in the park."
"You're right." Murray nodded. He already knew that the metal creatures were the greatest threat they
would face in the Second Dangerous Area. They each had the fighting power of the low-level deputy
god, some of them even had the fighting power of the middle-level deputy god. These metal creatures
were not all that weak.
Logically speaking, if powerful masters like Todd and Murray faced the metal creatures, it wouldn't take
long for them to destroy all the metal creatures.
But this way of thinking was in fact completely wrong!
Those metal creatures were different. Their fighting method was perfectly cooperative. They fought in
perfect sync. With every three hundred of them working together, they'd be able to resist a deputy god
at the top level.
And there were hundreds of thousands of them there.
Their fighting power was probably terrifying to even imagine.
It was very likely that even Todd and Murray would be killed if they tried to break in there!
"By the way, Darren, how did your aunt Yolanda get in?"
Todd had heard Darren say that he had someone he wanted to save, but he only recently mentioned
that it was Aunt Yolanda.
How had she gotten into the Second Dangerous Area? This thought finally dawned on Todd. It was
highly unusual.
"I won't keep anything from you. Aunt Yolanda is the wife of my uncle... Alfredo." Darren had finally
revealed the truth to everyone.
"What?" Todd squealed in surprise.
"What the hell?" Murray jumped up; he had long known that a creature had entered the Second
Dangerous Area, but he had not expected that creature to be the wife of Supreme God Alfredo.
Darren had also referred to Alfredo as "Uncle" several times, and Murray still had somehow never put
two and two together and realized that Darren's uncle was Supreme God Alfredo!
"Oh my God!"
