Obsessive CEO’s Sinful Wife

Chapter 168

Chapter 168

“But all I ask is for them to be released,” Serenity hastily argued. “This is no trouble for you. It can be done. after a short phone call from you.”

“It might be something I can do with a short phone call, but… what, then?”

He looked at her with complete nonchalance, which was in stark contrast with her anxiety.

Her hands, which had been hanging limply by her side, now clenched tightly. She took a deep breath and braved his gaze before telling him, “What do you want me to do to get them released?”

His eyes darkened slightly, and he put down his pen and stood up before slowly walking up to Serenity. He gently took her hand and said, “Your hand is pretty cold. Sis.”

Her whole body stiffened. Compared to his hands, hers were indeed icy cold.

He lowered his head and took both of her hands into his own before gently massaging them, giving them warmth. He did this so effortlessly that it seemed like he had done it countless times before, and his touch was also very gentle and cautious, almost as if she was the most precious thing to him.

Oh, God! What was she thinking?!

Serenity quickly reminded herself not to have those ridiculous thoughts again, but just then, he murmured, “Are your hands warmer now, Sis?”

“Umm… yeah. They’re a bit warmer now.

She wanted to withdraw her hands from him, but he would not let her. Instead, he held onto them event

more tightly now.

“There’s no rush,” He said. “They’ll get even warmer after rubbing them for a little longer.”

Serenity stared at him suspiciously. The gentle warmth he displayed right now made it seem like he was a completely different person from the one who had been coldly mocking her just moments ago.

While her hands were getting warmer and warmer, her heart was now getting more and more anxious.

“What exactly do you want me to do so you’d be willing to release them?” She could not stop herself from asking once again.

Instead of answering her, he asked, “Why did you change your mind so suddenly and decide to let them go now?”

“My grandma’s in bad health,” She told him the truth. “She’s been hospitalized, and I don’t want her to get worse because she’s worried about her family.”

“Is that so?” He asked in a soft, deep voice, not unlike the sound of a cello. “It looks like your grandma is very important to you. So important that you would come back to me begging only a few days later just because of her.”

Her nostrils were filled with his warm breath and scent. It felt like all the blood in her body was now flowing into her two hands, which were firmly in his.

“What about me?” He raised his head suddenly and asked. His striking eyes were now focused on hers, almost as if he was trying to look straight into her soul. “Am I Important to you?”

Her body trembled, and her almond–shaped eyes met his dark eyes in panic.

She could see her nervous self reflected in those eyes of his.

He leaned down, Inching his face ever closer to hers, and his warm breath tickled her face as he said, “I guess I’m not that important to you, am I? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have left me so eagerly. I’m probably just someone you disdain, huh?”

While her hands were still warm, she could feel her body getting colder and colder as she stared blankly at the handsome face that was merely inches away from her. His expressions were still just as gentle as before. In fact, even the way his hands were holding hers was still just as tender and cautious, but his eyes were unmistakably icy.

At that moment, Serenity was suddenly hit by a realization, yet she still would not give up and continued asking him, “Will you… let them go?”

“No.” He replied bluntly.

Her heart sank much deeper now. Yes. Of course. He was Jackson Valor, after all. There had perhaps never been any woman who dared to refuse him before.NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
