Chapter 590
Chapter 590
Jackson said, “Well, since you asked, I guess there’s no harm telling you.” Even if he did not tell her now, she would find out
After all, the matter was no longer a secret ansong Solaria’s high society.
Therefore, instead of letting her hear it from others, he would rather tell her about it himself.
“Lucas is indeed looking for someone a girl from his early childhood. However, he hasn’t been able to find her so far. Those girlfriends of his can be considered that girl’s substitute. He can’t find the right person, so he found some substitutes to comfort himself,” Jackson spoke while observing Serenity’s reaction closely.
Serenity frowned a little. “They’re substitutes for a little girl?”
“All his ex–girlfriends reminded him of that little girl in some ways.”
“But they’re not the person he’s looking for. Why does he go through one substitute after another when he knows that?” she
wondered.
“Maybe he’s obsessed. Or maybe, he’s reached a point of desperation. Maybe even he doesn’t believe that he can still find that girl.”
Jackson suddenly changed the tople. “If you were that little girl, and you found out that there’s a person like him who had been looking for you, what would you do?”
Serenity was taken aback by the question. She had never considered that before.
“Would you feel moved and go to him?” Jackson asked in a voice that was deeper than usual, as if he was trying to hypnotize her to induce her to voice her honest thoughts.
“I don’t think so,” answered Serenity, “Like you said, maybe it’s just an obsession rather than love. Besides, they knew each other when they were just kids. How deep can a child’s feelings go?‘
“Really?” asked Jackson, “What if he insists on having you?
Serenity chuckled. “He can insist all he wants, it doesn’t mean I have to give it to him. Besides, I already have you. I know you’ll never agree.”
“That’s right, you already have me.” Jackson murmured, “Of course I’ll never agree. I won’t let anyone else have you.” He suddenly clasped the back of her head and kissed her passionately.
The long, fiery kiss was dominant and possessive. Serenity could hardly breathe. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
Serenity had no idea how long the kiss lasted, but when it ended, her cheeks were flushed and her chest was heaving. She was left in a daze.
Jackson gently stroked her lips, his eyes twinkling. “Lucas thinks he can find solace in substitutes, but he’s simply trying to decrive himself. If I were him, I would never look for substitutes. If the person next to me was not the person I wanted, it would be meaningless.”
That
afternoon, Serenity once again received a delivery order from her old law firm at work. The person who placed the order was none other than her former co–worker, Liliana Granger.
