One Day, I Woke Up A Werewolf

Chapter 28

Chapter 28

Hailey's POV

I couldn't sleep.

I keep seeing Stacy's face every time I close my eyes. She wanted me dead, although she had many

chances to kill me when my not so real dad was alive, she picks now the perfect time to want to kill me.

It's like torture.

I don't feel safe, with I don't know how many men in this house. I still don't feel safe. Stacy is a cunning

woman and if she really wants to end me, she will find a way.

That's the one trait I sometimes wish I had. The ability to just get my way no matter what or even who.

The world is such a cruel place with not enough chances for people like me.

My innocence will almost always be taken advantage of and my irrational fear will always prevent me

from taking what's mine or what I believe I deserve.

I have long accepted who I am. I can't be humiliated by what I know to be true. People can call me

weak or a scaredy cat but if it's true, why fight it?

'You have me now.' My wolf responds to my thoughts.

That's beside the point.

'No. Your father would berate you and diminish your feelings. He did this so many times that the only

way to make him stop was to cower away in to a corner and cover yourself until he was satisfied. He

fed on your fear of him and as we now know, felt the need to punish you for your parent's actions. So

when you say that this scared and innocent little girl is who you are then that's where you are wrong.

You have the chance to find out who you really are, healing from your father's treatment of you. You

can't be that girl and be given a task so great, being the first werewolf girl to ever have a mate and to in

future bring full blooded pups to life. You are royalty Hailey and I'll keep saying it until you believe it."

My wolf says to me.

A tear escapes my eye from her words of encouragement before we are rudely Interrupted by my

father waking me up to train.

"Yes, I'm already awake." I say.

"Good. It's raining so it is the perfect weather for some hardcore training. Cayden will be joining us

today and for all of your future trainings. He will also go wherever you go, being your guard until I'm

ready to step down and you can take over." Theo says to me as I get dressed.

"Won't I automatically be the luna of Jaxon's pack?" I ask.

"That's entirely up to you and Jaxon. You can also choose to merge the two packs together, as my

pack will only choose to follow you once I step down." He says as we descend down the stairs and out

of the house.

"Good morning beta." Theo greets Cayden.

"Good morning alpha. Hailey." Cayden greets back and I nod my head at him.

"Right then, follow me my lead." Theo tells us and he starts by running.

We run for some time, surprisingly my body able to handle it as unfit as I am.

'You're a wolf now. Keep up.' Adira says to me and I chuckle.

Cayden throws me a look and I just point at my head, getting it, he looks back ahead.

"Do you miss home?" I ask, trying to make conversation with the boy.

"Not so much. I got to travel out of the pack and I needed that." Cayden answers.

"May I ask why?" I say.

"My mate was killed by a rogue during an attack. I.. I told her to stay home but because of the mate

bond she couldn't stay away and I was working border patrol. She arrived and within seconds a rogue

was tearing her apart. I just, everything reminds me of her and this helps me ease the pain. There's

nothing here that reminds me of her. I just needed to get away for some time." Cayden says.

I was shocked he actually told me this story. It is private and usually told to people that mean

something and I was still a stranger to this boy, not yet at the place where we can share how we really

feel but he beat me to it.

"I'm sorry. I think we will be here a while so you will get sufficient time to clear your head." I say and he

chuckles.

"You found your mate. I think we will be heading back pretty soon seeing that he's an alpha." He says

to me.

"Keep up you two!" My dad shouts out and we run a little faster.

"I have not decided if I will be his luna. I'm also not sure if I am strong enough to lead a whole pack,

especially after so many years living as a human." I say in all honesty.

A shera alpha.

I have never heard of any and I know there's a first time for everything but being the first of something

comes with it's challenges.

"You are the alphas only child. Right now, whether or not you are capable is besides the point. That's

why you have a beta, the second in command to aid you. I was raised all my life to serve an alpha and

even though you are a shera, you are of alpha blood and I will respect that. The pack will stand behind

you, especially if you choose to lead." Cayden says to me.

I nod my head, just to confirm I heard what he said but it's a lot to take in. Two minutes ago I was just a

girl looking at my own reflection in the mirror and seeing my eyes change color.

Before that, I was a girl that wore hoodies to hide away. To feel invisible and now I had to stand tall in Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

front of many and lead?

After training, I head to my room and freshen up. My dad said not to make plans for the day so I stay in

my bathrobe and paint my nails.

Spending the part of my morning pampering myself with nothing else to do. I had a lot to think about..

I've always wanted to be independent. Run my own thing and maybe that was the alpha blood talking, I

can never know but I also have to keep in mind that in wolf culture, the woman follows the man. Jaxon

is the alpha of his pack and he needs a Luna, he needs me to help him run the pack and I can't be that

for him if I choose to be the alpha of my own pack.

Oh man.

How do I choose between independence or love? In most cases, with the current times one can have

both.

"We are wolves Hailey. We don't move the way humans do so yes, the men make all the decisions that

affect the pack but you get to change things so nothing has to stay the same." Cayden says to me as

he stands by my door, some young girl walks in carrying a tray of food.

She places it on the table and runs out.

"Your father asked me to bring this up for you. He will be with you in a minute and we will be going out,

so eat up and get dressed." Cayden tells me before closing my door.

How can he know what I was thinking? How does everyone know what I'm thinking?!
