Chapter 3 It's None Of My Business
Chapter 3 It's None Of My Business
"How dare you look for my brother? If only you had taken good care of Claude, my brother wouldn't
have been fired. He is a promising cardiologist. And you ruined him!" She didn't feel ashamed that she
was an unmarried mother. She even began to teach Cindy a lesson.
Cindy hadn't expected that even her sister-in-law knew that Horald sold her out.
"Did you take a part in that?" Cindy asked.
"Who on earth was the one ruining lives? How dare you stand in my house and blame me?! Get out of
my way. This is my house!" Biting her lips, Cindy was trembling in anger.
"Why are you mad? Know your place! You don't deserve such a good man like my brother. Don't you
know what kind of person you are? You're just an intern nurse who doesn't have an education from a
poor family. You are even depending on my brother to take care of your sick brother." Her eyes were
full of disdain. Joyce looked at Cindy as if she was a beggar.
"Don't talk nonsense with her, Joyce. Drive that jinx out of this house! She's just annoying everyone
here," Beatrix yelled, pointing at Cindy's nose.
"Get out of my house!" Joyce quickly obliged and dragged Cindy out of the house.
"Let me go!" Cindy demanded. She gritted her teeth and held back her anger. After all, she didn't want
to fight with a pregnant woman.
However, when Joyce was trying to grab Cindy's hair, she was accidentally stumbled by the door
frame.
Feeling that the grip on her loosen, Cindy turned around only to see her sister-in-law was about to fall
down.
"Watch out!"
In just a blink of an eye, Joyce fell heavily on the ground. She groaned in pain and blood started to ran
down her thighs.
"Ah! It hurts, Mom. It hurts so much," she cried out.
Cindy rushed over to see what was going on with her.
"What's wrong with you? Don't scare me." Cindy held her breath as she checked her sister-in-law's
physical conditions.
"Get away from her, you murderer! If anything happens to my daughter's baby, you'll definitely pay for
it!" With anger in her eyes, Beatrix rushed to push Cindy away.
"Mom, I'm a nurse. Let me have a look at her," Cindy insisted.
"Don't touch her!"
At this moment, the elevator door opened.
Horald walked out. He seemed to have been drinking and was definitely in a bad mood. He was in a
total mess and had grown a beard overnight.
Beatrix burst into tears when she saw her son. "Horald, come here. This woman killed your baby!"
Horald quickly strode towards Joyce. "Joyce..." Horald called.
"Brother, my baby... Save our baby," Joyce pleaded.
"Honey, don't be afraid. I won't let anything happen to you." Horald then looked at Cindy with disdain. "If
anything happens to Joyce's child, I won't let you get out of it scott-free!"
He pursed his lips, picked Joyce up, and left.
Cindy watched them leave as she stood alone in this bloody scene.
All her limbs and bones seemed to be eroded by the coldness.
Even though Joyce was Horald's sister, she was an adopted child. They weren't related by blood at all.
Cindy didn't expect that the baby in Joyce's belly would be Horald's.
The man who she believed to be honest and loyal to her turned out to be having an affair with his own
sister. Now they even had a child together, and she was the last one to know about it.
No wonder Beatrix didn't get angry that Joyce was impregnated before marriage.
Now, Cindy knew about everything.
In the No. 2 People's Hospital...
The lights in the emergency room were all on. Beatrix and Horald were both restless.
Cindy had never seen him so depressed.
The doctor walked into the emergency room while looking through his medical records.
"Who is the family of Joyce Tao?" the doctor announced.
"I, I am. How is my grandson?" Beatrix hurriedly walked towards the doctor.
The doctor didn't look up, while his voice sounded really sorry.
"The baby is gone. The patient had a hemorrhage. Her uterus must be removed. It will be very
dangerous for her if her uterus weren't removed. I need you to sign the operation agreement," the
doctor explained.
"What? That's impossible! I can't believe it. It's impossible for her to lose her uterus," Beatrix was going
crazy. She was crying loudly and her eyes had turned so red.
Cindy stared blankly at the scene. Her heart felt like it was being pinned by a big stone.
She could see in Horald's eyes the stress and desperation. But she knew she couldn't say anything
that would offer him comfort.
All of a sudden, her phone rang. Cindy tried to ignore it, but the person on the other end kept on calling.
She walked away from the emergency room and answered the call. "Hello?"
But no one answered.
Cindy was feeling a little impatient. Her heart stared racing because of rage. "Who are you?" There
was still no answer. "Say something, or I'll hung up!"
"Why are you hiding from me?" the person on the other end of the phone said. The man's voice was
cold, low, deep, and magnetic.
"Is this Ethan?" NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
"Cindy, who said that you could run away from me?" His voice was tense.
Cindy was annoyed and exhausted. "What do you want?" she irritatingly asked.
"Marry me. You owe me this. Cindy, you can't escape."
"Just stop please. We're not from the same world. I am just a common girl, someone who couldn't
afford the intrigues of your rich and powerful world. I beg you to let me go. Don't bother me ever again!"
Everything about last night felt like a crazy mistake for Cindy.
She didn't want to be associated with Ethan anymore.
She made that promise five years ago.
Meanwhile, Ethan's car was already parked outside the hospital.
Sitting upright in the back seat of his car, Ethan listened to the cold and mechanical sound of the phone
being hung up. The cold look on his face was frightening.
It was no way for him not to notice the bitterness and hatred in her tone.
The light outside his car wasn't enough to light up his cold and dark eyes.
"Mr. Ethan, I don't think Ms. Cindy is the type of woman who will betray you because of money. She
must be facing her own difficulties," Leon, his assistant, turned around and respectfully said.
He had witnessed how Ethan had survived the past five years.
Of course he knew what Cindy meant to him.
A sinister spark burst out from Ethan's dark and sharp eyes. "Check out what happened to her five
years ago."
Outside the emergency room of the hospital...
Cindy received a storm of curses as soon as she hung up the phone.
"Cindy, you murderous bitch! How can you repair the damages you have done to my grandson and my
daughter?! I want you to pay with your life!" Beatrix was out of control, pouncing at Cindy.
With anger, she slapped Cindy across her face hard, which was followed by a series of punches and
kicks.
Cindy was thrown to the wall, feeling an immense amount of pain. Dizzy and bloody, her vision had
started to be blurry.
She gritted her teeth and stood up. Cold sweat was dripping down from her. "This has nothing to do
with me. The baby's death wasn't my fault," she tried to explain.
Horald was irritated by what Cindy had just said. He pushed her against the wall and held her chin up.
"Cindy, Joyce is going to die because of you. How dare you claim it has nothing to do with you! I'm so
stupid to marry such a cruel woman like you!" His voice shook in anger.
Cindy tried to struggle out of his grip, but she couldn't. She look at his angry face and refused to admit
that it was her fault.
"Really? Well, I'm also stupid for marrying a man like you! Get your dirty hands off me. Don't touch me,
you disgusting bastard!" she retorted.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she tried to control her emotions. But the pain she was
feeling all over her body was too much to bear.
Horald was so angry at Cindy that he wanted to kill her with his cold stare.
"How dare you think I'm disgusting?! Do you know that I was fired because of you? That I lost my
position in the medical circle? You've ruined me! You've ruined everything that I have worked hard for!"
Horald shouted in frustration. He was a well-established man, but he lost everything in just one night.
And it was all because of Cindy.
Cindy flashed a sinister smile, raised her eyebrows, looked straight into his eyes, and said, "So you
married me just to use me, didn't you? Without me, you wouldn't even be Professor Wang's disciple.
You wouldn't have even graduated with high credits, right? You are messing around with your sister
and selling your wife to another man. Horald, I was so blinded by your fake loyalty and honesty. You're
the one who ruined me. You cost me years of my life!"
