After Andreas Morales left, Deasy sat there silently, her gaze empty. Her mind was busy thinking while digesting every word Andreas had said to her.
There was pain.
There was humiliation.
How Andreas Morales’s words had left a deep impact, cutting and cornering her.
“Do you think the Morales family wants a daughter-in-law like you, a cheap woman?”
“If not cheap, what should I call it then? What should we call a woman who willingly sleeps with a man, even multiple times without any official commitment? Because in reality, a dignified woman would never engage in such dirty acts.”
Deasy sighed deeply as she recalled this string of sentences. If only cursing parents didn’t bring bad luck, she wished she could utter all the curses she knew.
She admitted that she was wrong for engaging in a marital relationship without any formal commitment. But… it was all unintentional. Not exactly a mistake, as Deasy had moments when she felt addicted and repeated it.
Yes, okay!
She was wrong, and her behavior of postponing marriage and agreeing to live together without an official status didn’t help.
No, Deasy wasn’t living with someone outside of wedlock.
It was absurd to compare her to that!
Deasy wanted to get married. She had even planned everything. But even before she had a chance to meet her parents, she was handed a red card.
This is just too much!
Meanwhile, lost in thought, her phone began to ring. Lucas had been sending her messages repeatedly, wanting to know how she was and where she was.
Lucas: Honey… where are you?
Lucas: Honey… are you angry? Why aren’t you answering my calls?
Lucas: Are you busy or something? If you’ve read my messages, please call or reply. Love you.
Deasy continued to remain silent. Shortly after, she was pulled back into some random moments that had caught her attention. There were instances where people had mentioned a truth she had never realized.
“Your mom is so lucky to have a boyfriend like Mr. Lucas. He’s handsome, attentive, and even generous. He never forgets to order the most delicious food every day and makes sure that Ms. Deasy eats it.”
One of the delivery drivers Deasy had asked even reassured her twice that the Lucas who had been with her was a handsome man. She thought it was just polite compliments the driver was making to catch her attention.
Even the doctor who practiced in the apartment complex had said the same thing. When she had an accident and lost consciousness, the handsome version of Lucas had brought her in, stayed for a while, and ensured her well-being.
“Isn’t it nice being Ms. Deasy? Her boyfriend seems really affectionate. He’s handsome, too. Basically, the complete package.”
It made perfect sense that both of these different people were talking about Deasy’s boyfriend, a handsome man they had all met before-Lucas Morales.
“Lucas Orion… Lucas Orion Morales.”
Andreas Morales even repeated it twice and emphasized the name of his son to convince Deasy.
Ironically, he appeared like a fool because, as an employee, he clearly didn’t know the full name of his own boss.
“Deasy… Deasy… your foolishness knows no bounds! How could you have let yourself be played like this all this time?”
Deasy took a deep breath. She closed her eyes tightly and clenched her fists. Her expression clearly showed her frustration and disappointment.
“Lucas… Lucas Orion Morales…” she said with anger. “You better watch out! You have to pay for what you’ve done to me! How dare you play with me like this. Damn it!”
After thinking for a long time, weighing the pros and cons, considering the consequences and everything else, Deasy decided to leave. Not to run away or escape reality but to go back to the office to meet Lucas and clarify everything that had happened.
That’s why, when she arrived at the Forty-nine building and was about to enter the room, Della, who had been waiting, approached her. She conveyed a message from Lucas, who had been looking for her.
“Ma’am… Oh my goodness. You finally came,” Della said as she approached.
“Why? Are you looking for me? What’s going on?”
Della shook her head repeatedly.
“Not me, but Mr. Lucas. He’s been looking for you. He wants to discuss the project that was talked about in the meeting this afternoon, Ma’am. It seems really important.”
Deasy nodded, understanding what Della was telling her.
“Well, I’ll go see Mr. Lucas right away. Maybe it needs to be discussed right now.”
Without much ado and because she really wanted to meet him, Deasy immediately changed course and headed to Lucas’s office. When she arrived and entered, she immediately discussed work matters.
It took a long time, and it was very serious. When it was finally over, Deasy didn’t go home immediately. Once again, she had to clarify the truth that she had just heard today from the man who, incidentally, was Lucas’s father.
“Are you sure Mr. Lucas doesn’t want to say anything to me?”
Lucas looked puzzled. He gazed at Deasy, shaking his head uncertainly. As far as he knew, everything related to work had already been discussed. So, what else did he need to tell Deasy?
“It doesn’t seem like it, Ma’am.”
Deasy smiled. Her facial expression was hard to read. It was a mix of annoyance, anger, disdain, and disappointment. She wanted to mess up Lucas’s face but realized that the man in front of her was undeniably handsome.
“Well… who knows, maybe Mr. Lucas wants to talk about Lucas Morales, who turns out to be Lucas Orion.”
In her seat, Lucas was taken aback. He couldn’t hide his surprise after hearing what Deasy had just revealed.
That’s why, while straightening up, Lucas prepared to give an explanation. However, before he could speak, Deasy took the opportunity first.
“It turns out you’ve just been playing with me all this time, Luc. It turns out, all this time I’ve just been your puppet.”
Deasy looked at him with anger. From her gaze, Lucas could conclude that his girlfriend was deeply disappointed.
Lucas had prepared to be honest, but he didn’t expect it to happen so suddenly and unprepared.
“Honey… I can explain everything.”
“Oh, of course,” Deasy immediately responded with a cold tone. Her gaze was sharp. There was no warmth, no affection, which she usually showed to Lucas.
“You really have to explain everything to me.”
Deasy then turned around, taking steps towards the door to leave the room. However, before she could exit, Lucas quickly grabbed her arm.
“Honey… please. Please listen to me first. I’ll explain everything without leaving anything out.”
“You do have to explain everything. But not here!”
Deasy then brushed away Lucas’s hand on her wrist. She continued walking, choosing to leave in a hurry, but not to return to the office. Instead, she headed home.Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
Meanwhile, Lucas appeared to be chasing after her. Ignoring the curious stares of the staff, he continued to pursue Deasy as she walked towards the lobby.
Once Deasy was within reach, Lucas immediately pulled her arm, leading her to get into the car and head to the apartment.
