President Williams Woos His Ex-wife Again

Chapter 45 Not Resigning Herself to Reality

Chapter 45 Not Resigning Herself to Reality

She thought she would be sad to hear this sarcasm, but the pain from her hand and her heart were too

sharp. She was numb about his words. That was Aaron. ‘He doesn’t love me, and Karl doesn’t trust

me.’ She kept losing everything in her wretched life, never got to own anything.

She lowered her eyes, covering her tears in it, “If you’re here to laugh at my misfortune, you have

already done. Just go, and bring the divorce papers. I will sign it.” Their broken marriage was

meaningless. Her love would never come back to her, and she resigned to it.

After all, the morning-after pill he forced her to eat yesterday morning was enough to destroy her pride

and self-esteem. ‘Oh no. I’m just a deaf woman. Were I not the daughter of the Johnson family, I

wouldn’t be able to approach Aaron. I have no pride or self-esteem at all,’ she thought to herself.

The only thing she could do now was getting divorced. Maybe Aaron would forgive Jacky after their

divorce. Jacky had given up a lot for her, even his chance of going to college. She couldn’t risk him

again.

Aaron’s mind was deviated to another issue. He was indignant and raised his voice, “Of course we’re

getting divorced!”

‘She’s so calm now, not sad at all. Is she in love with Brown again?’ thinking of this, Aaron thought she

was so bitchy. ‘Brown has broken her hand for Carina, why does she still love him? She deserves all of

it!’

The last bit of pain in his heart was replaced by fury. He didn’t want to see her anymore. “The papers

will be sent to you tomorrow!” he left after leaving this word.

Beth didn’t think she would cry again, because she felt her tears were all dried. Her hand was wrapped

in bandage. She had to control her breath, fearing to move it.

She had thought it would be better if she died, but now she didn’t want to resign herself to reality.

Carina cheated Karl, and Jacky needed care. If she died, who would seek justice for her? And who

would reveal Carina’s wicked scheme? She didn’t want it to be like this. She didn’t want to be buried

with the filthy charges against her. She couldn’t fall asleep after Aaron’s departure.

Jacky’s attending doctor called her, telling her that though he had had an operation, the injury on his

leg was too severe, and his recovery didn’t go well. He needed a large sum of money for physical

therapy, or it might affect his daily walk.

The news worsened her situation. “How much does it cost?” she croaked. “It depends, but it’ll take at

least one hundred thousand dollars,” said the doctor. ‘At least one hundred thousand dollars?’ Beth felt

her world darkened as she heard it.

It had taken her so much effort to raise money for his operation…But what could she do? It was

because of her that he had to bear such pain.

She gritted her teeth and said, “I'll figure it out.”

There seemed to be no other way except facing it. Last time it had cost her thirty thousand, now a

hundred thousand. If she had had another kidney, she would have sold it again. ‘It’s all about money!’

Now Beth didn’t even have time to feel sorry about herself, though her hand was broken. All she

thought about was the money to cure Jacky.

In the evening, Jessica rushed to the hospital to see her. Beth didn’t know how she knew it.

Jessica was wearing plain and casual clothes rather than her red dress. She was already pretty even Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

without any make up. Even Beth herself could be stunned by her. After all, five years ago, Jessica was

the brightest pearl from a wealthy family.

“You hurt so badly! Who did this to you? Carina?” Jessica’s complexion was dim, and the bags under

her eyes were obvious. She must be lack sleep.

“No,” said Beth in a low voice, “but it has something to do with her.” Jessica sat on the edge of her bed,

and said to her with care, “What happened to you? Tell me everything.”

Beth knew she couldn’t hide away from her, and she didn’t plan to do so either. She tried to keep

herself calm, and told her everything about her and Karl, including selling her blood and kidney.

Jessica was a testy person. She got outraged after hearing what had happened, “Carina! She lied to

them? Are you silly? Selling your blood and kidney! Your body will break down! How could Karl treat

you like that?” She continued, “Karl and Rawson are all blind. That’s why they both got cheated by

Carina.”

Jessica did not hate Carina, but still she disliked her, because Carina looked a bit like Mia. Rawson

only saw Carina as a substitute.

Mia had been pregnant at that time. She had jumped into the sea and disappeared. Rawson kept

emphasizing how he had been missing Mia, but still he had sex with other women.

Jessica started to doubt herself, ‘Why did I fall in love with Rawson? If I was given another chance, I

would never force him to marry me.’

“No, I owe him,” said Beth weakly. “He’s now cheated by Carina, but I’ve never thought he would hate

me, and he even refused to listen to the recording.”

Jessica was angry, but her voice got gentler, “You’re just being silly! How about your hand? What are

you gonna do with it?”

Beth didn’t want to cry, because she didn’t want to worry Jessica. But as Jessica caressed her

forehead, Beth felt a bit of warmth, making her burst into tears again. No one could refuse warmth.

Ever since she got injured, no one had ever consoled her. Aaron even jeered at her. After Jessica’s

words, she broke down.

“It’s OK…” Beth sobbed, “Just a hand.” Jessica really wanted to hit her, but seeing her scarlet eyes,

she couldn’t.

Suddenly, she seemed to have thought of something, and rummaged in her bag, taking out a credit

card.

“Beth, there are fifty thousand dollars in it. You’re not in good health. You need it to pay for your

treatment. Take it,” said Jessica. She sobbed, “As for the rest, I’ll figure it out.”

“Jessica!” Beth wanted to refuse. Jessica stared at her sternly, “Never give up on yourself, no matter

what happens. Stay alive. We both need to stay alive. Life will get better. You must take your illness

under control.”

Beth wanted to tell her she didn’t need the money, but the truth was that she really needed it, not for

herself, but for Jacky.

“Jessica, how about you?” she asked anxiously. Seeing she took her money, Jessica felt relieved and

smiled, “I’m healthy, and I’m not in dire need of money. I live and eat in the Shades. I don’t need to

spend a lot of money. Don’t worry about me. I’m better than you.”

When mentioning the Shades, Jessica’s face got gloomy. She’s Rawson’s wife and the mother of her

daughter, but she had to work as a barmaid in the Shades.

She could only meet her daughter once in several months, but her daughter hated her. That’s

Rawson’s revenge on her, because she insisted on marrying him and caused the death of his love, so

that’s her karma.

Jessica had intended to stay with Beth for a while in the hospital, but suddenly her phone rang. Holding

her phone, Jessica saw Rawson’s name on the screen, making her heart trembled slightly.
