Chapter 151: Was the Matter That Year Really an Accident?

Chapter 151: Was the Matter That Year Really an Accident?

Hayden did not bother too much about the news matter. It was just the gossip news. The news would disappear after others made a fuss for a certain period, not to mention that although the words used by the media were unpleasant, after all, he was just involved in a relationship. Even if the fans were really annoyed, they would not be that unreasonable. So, she just needed to act more carefully these two days.

Indeed, Jeff was too nervous about this matter. Joseph’s attitude was the normal and rational reaction that one should have.

Before getting off from work in the afternoon, Hayden shut down her computer, packed up her things and went out of the office.

The staff in the cubicle of the office had not left yet. She glanced at her watch, looked up and said, “It’s time to get off from work. We aren’t busy lately, so you guys can get off from work when it’s time to leave the office. Don’t need to wait for me.”

The crowd only then heaved a sigh of relief and smiled.

“What? You guys are afraid that I’ll tell you guys to work overtime, right?” Hayden asked while smiling.

The laughter of different tones and volumes sounded in the office.

The people in the office were frightened by the matter in which they needed to work overtime for the quarterly statistics last week. Whenever it was time to get off from work, they would habitually tense up themselves, fearing that the leader would ask them to work overtime again.

After coming out of the elevator, the receptionist, Lillian called Hayden after Hayden walked for a few steps.

“Ms. Downey, you’re leaving?”

Hayden looked back and was a bit shock to see Lillian’s nervous expression, “What’s wrong?”

“Didn't Jack tell you? I’ve messaged him.”

Lillian did not need to work in the morning today so she had just arrived only. Just after changing into a beige suit uniform to be on duty in the reception, when she saw Hayden, she hurriedly walked to Hayden although she had not even pinned the nameplate on her chest.

“Ms. Downey, when I came just now, I saw a van at the junction. There are two cameras in the car and they are facing the entrance of our hotel. I guess they’re here to take a photo of you.”

Hearing this, Hayden frowned.

Reporters really came.

Perhaps because no news about the entertainment industry could be published recently, the reporters were so keen to report about Freddie who had become popular just not long before. This group of reporters usually liked to make troubles and since they caught such an opportunity this time, they were bound to make good use of this.

While talking, Jeff came down using the elevator and hurriedly rushed over. He patted his head and said that he had forgotten about the matter of text message.

“Ms. Downey, I think you better don’t go out today. You should stay in the hotel.” Lillian had a concerned face.

“Yeah, Mr. Beckham’s room has always been cleaned. You can directly stay inside…”

After saying halfway, Jeff abruptly shut his mouth. Not knowing if he had said the wrong thing, he secretly glanced and peeked at Hayden’s reaction.

Hayden slightly frowned but her expression did not look much different. It seemed that she did not take his words to heart.

“No need. I need to go to pick up my daughter.”

Stella and Noah had previously enrolled in the swimming lessons and the course had not yet finished. Originally, Joseph’s butler was responsible for picking up them but before going out today, she had promised them that she would personally go to pick up them in the evening.

Hayden took very seriously what was promised in front of her child.

“Let me give you a ride.”

A clear male voice sounded behind the three of them.

When Hayden turned around, she saw that it was Benjamin. Both his hands were in his pockets and as usual, he was wearing a white t-shirt and black pants. His teenage-like face was showing some sense of maturity.

“You give me a ride?” Hayden slightly froze.

Benjamin’s hand fished a car key out of his pants pocket and he waved it in front of Hayden’s eyes, “You want?”

“I thought you have the ability to get a car within such a short time.”

In the underground garage, Hayden put on her seat belt and said while smiling, “When did Joseph give you the car keys?”

Benjamin reversed the car out of the parking space. His slender and bony fingers were gripping the steering wheel and they looked exceptionally good.

“Before he left, he gave me when I went to find him to reimburse the car expense. I think he doesn’t want to bother me.”

Hayden helplessly smiled, “I’ve told you that you can directly come to find me for a small matter like reimbursement. And if you’re short of money, come to find me too, don’t need to find him.”

“It’s okay.” Benjamin looked thoughtfully at the street scene outside the windshield, “It’s regarded as an unalterable principle that I ask him for it.”

Hayden thought he was talking about the matter in which who should be responsible for knocking down him so she could not help but explain.

“Benjamin, I’m the one who has knocked you down and caused you to be injured. The reason Joseph put this blame on the company was to excuse me from the fault. But to be frank, it’s still my responsibility. It’s regarded as an unalterable principle that I should take responsibility for your life afterward.”

“I’m not talking about this, it’s that he…”

Benjamin’s eyebrows furrowed and he did not continue saying.

“Who? What’s wrong?” Hayden did not understand.

“Nothing.” Benjamin changed the subject. When the car moved below the overpass, the momentary interplay of light and shadow blocked the gloom that flickered only for a second in his eyes.

“How are you going to deal with the news matter?”

When he mentioned this, Hayden had a headache, “I don’t know. I want to let nature take its course. If I take the initiative to explain anything at this time, I’ll seemingly be like a guilty person who gives myself away by consciously protesting my innocence. Not to mention that Freddie has not contacted me yet, I don’t know what they plan to do over there.”

“It’s better to discuss with them and come up with a consistent statement.” Benjamin nodded slightly and the darkness in his eyes was a little subtle.

“I see that someone is explaining your relationship with Freddie on the Internet, saying that the ST Group doesn’t know it before arranging the travel program. It looks like they are planning to disassociate themselves.”

Hearing this, Hayden frowned, “Is it?”

“Yes. I’ve checked the ID of the person who is the first person that publishes the article. It’s an internal staff of ST Group from the technical department.”

Soon after Hayden’s identity was exposed, some people on the Internet questioned whether the travel program of a star and ordinary people attended by Freddie after he had his debut was rigged a long time ago. After all, being the person in charge of the anniversary celebration at that time, it was absolutely possible that Hayden might have practised jobbery.

Such a question was quickly proved false by an article that was suddenly published on the Internet.

A person claiming to be an internal employee of the hotel of the ST Group claimed that he knew the truth. He said that everyone at the hotel did not know what kind of relationship Hayden and Freddie had. This directly disassociated the relationship between Hayden and the ST Group and turned the spearhead easily.

“He is a businessman. What he can do to minimize the loss is his first consideration so it isn’t his fault.” Benjamin’s low and deep voice echoed throughout the car.

However, this suddenly stimulated a sense in Hayden’s heart and it kept buzzing.

Joseph was a profit-minded person so he would always weigh the profit that was gained upon doing something. It was hard to see his rational sense and emotion being affected by his personal feelings.

This time, she was involved in the gossip news of incestuous love and if Joseph did not give any instruction, the public relations department of the ST Group would not dare to deal with the problem using this kind of approach. Benjamin’s words were right, he was rational. It was not his fault to implement such an approach. After all, there was totally no benefit but much harm to let the reputation of the group being damaged due to her matter that would damage her reputation too.

So, was the accident encountered by Noah that year really an accident?

She somewhat could not control herself to look on the most negative side.Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
