Chapter 241: A Heart That Is Forever Beating For You

Hayden gave a small laugh after reading the message, and replied immediately, “Kevin deserved to be scolded, you don’t have to worry too much.”

Kevin was a terrible gossiper, never keeping his mouth shut at the right time. Anything that reached him would become a total disaster. He was indeed a born troublemaker.

However, both she and Joseph knew the biggest problem wasn’t with Kevin. Joseph was a man that wouldn’t bow down to anyone, he simply needed someone to vent his anger.

She was certain she would never receive the apology she wanted.

The next day, Hayden brought Joann Group’s bidding notice back to Nanking. Since Samuel had already interfered in this matter, resulting in them not being able to work together privately, they could now only proceed with the bidding through a normal procedure.

After letting Dante take a look at the bidding requirements, Dante approved it,

“The staff’s uniform design is not difficult, we can definitely satisfy all the requirements. As long as there is no one getting in the way, this batch of orders would definitely belong to us.”

“I’m counting on you.”

“No problem at all.” Dante put down the measuring tape in his hand, “Oh right, when is Alayna leaving?”

“Day after tomorrow.” Hayden did some time calculations, “It was mentioned end of the month. Day after tomorrow would be end of the month, do you want to send her off?”

“No.” Dante answered abruptly. “Tell her that once she’s recovered, if she’s early, she can still compete with me for the chief designer role. If she’s too late, then she can only be my assistant.”

Hayden gave a helpless smile. After staring at Dante for a while, she asked playfully, “Dante, a little bird told me that you used to chase Alayna while you guys were at St. York University?”

“Who said that?” Dante’s dark face blushed red. He glared at Hayden with a face that denied profusely, “This is pure nonsense, why would I even take a second look at that girl?”

“You are right,” Hayden nodded her head thoughtfully, “I heard Alayna chased you for a long time before getting you, but you broke up with her after 3 days. Looks like you really didn’t like her.”

Hearing this, Dante was startled for a second, “She said this?”

“Yeah, she said she spent a lot of effort chasing you, but in the end you complained that she wasn’t good in designing, and broke up with her after a fight.”

Not getting any response from Dante, Hayden turned to look at him, but she saw him with his head lowered, the measuring tape in his hand frantically measuring something, as though in a state of trance.

“Dante?”

Dante came back to his senses, “Huh? Oh, that was because she had a bad temper, I don’t like girls with a foul temper.”

Hayden acknowledged that, and left while smiling.

Most men didn’t mean what they say. If Dante really didn’t like Alayna, he wouldn’t have only given her his contact information when he left Nanking. This guy was a loner, if he wanted to keep in touch with Alayna even when he escaped to the wilderness, how could it not mean that he never loved her?

It’s just that Hayden didn’t know what happened in the past between them, their regrets and misunderstandings.

Two days later, Alayna in the company of Kevin, left for America for treatment.

Hayden sent them off at the airport.

“Alayna, remember to keep in touch with me once you reached America.”

Hayden gave Alayna a hug. While hugging her, she could feel that Alayna had lost a lot of weight during this period, and she felt a little anxious.

Alayna was so frail right now. After speaking just a sentence, her eyes teared up, looking as if she had been wronged.

Hayden couldn’t bear to continue looking at her, so she turned her head over to glare at Kevin, “Kevin, if you even dare to bully Hayden, I will fly over immediately. I have not settled with you over what happened last time, so you still owe me one.” This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Kevin naturally nodded his head profusely, and glanced at Edison who was by his side, and muttered annoyingly, “I have my brother over here with me, how would I even dare to bully Alayna, doesn’t half of Wall Street belong to him?”

Hayden rolled her eyes, “If you and Edison don’t get along, no one is forcing you guys to. Just don’t talk in such an annoying manner, you’re setting such a bad example for our Alayna.”

“What do you mean your Alayna, she is ours.”

Kevin who didn’t look embarrassed at all, shot her a glare.

“Where’s the evidence? Words mean nothing, you can simply say that she’s yours, but who agreed to that? Edison and I, together with our brother Dante, we are all Alayna’s family, we’re not as easy-to- please like you.”

Standing in between them, Alayna watched Hayden and Kevin bicker with each other. The scene felt so familiar. After some thought, she realized that in the past it was always her who was bickering with Kevin, and Hayden was the one acting as the mediator. But now, things had taken a turn.

Thinking of this, Alayna felt a little wistful, suppressing her choking voice, she said,

“Alright, time is almost up, we should be heading for security check.”

“Hold on.” Kevin pulled her back, “Joseph hasn’t arrived.”

Hearing Joseph’s name, Hayden froze for a second.

They weren’t sure when Kevin would be back in the country, hence it was reasonable for Joseph to come send him off. However, it’s been half an hour, but he was still not in sight.

Could he be avoiding her?

“Maybe you guys shouldn’t wait, he is probably busy with something.” Alayna lowered her head to look at the time, “We’ll be late if we continue waiting.”

“Let’s wait for a while more.” Kevin persisted.

Five minutes later, a silhouette appeared at the international departures of the airport. Kevin, like a rocket, suddenly took off away from them.

“Here, here.”

Hayden and Alayna exchanged an exasperated look with each other. Before they even managed to make a comment on their friendship, Kevin had already dumped Joseph and ran back to them.

Kevin was panting from running here and there. Alayna was just about to pull him away, when he suddenly got down on one knee.

The airport was so crowded that it immediately attracted the attention of many.

“What are you doing?” a startled Alayna asked, “There’re so many people here. Stop fooling around.”

“Alayna, I have something to tell you, it has to be said in front of everyone before we leave.”

Kevin raised his hand, in his hands were a black heart-shaped suede box. Snapping open the box, he revealed a sparkling diamond ring. Intricate carvings combined with one of the rarest diamonds in the world, under the interlaced light, the diamond looked like a glimmering cluster of fire dancing in the centre of the ring.

“Actually, what I want to tell you had been said more than once, and had also been rejected by you more than once. I’m not forcing you to say yes, you can still reject me today, but I will not be like the past anymore, hiding myself after I fail. I will always be by your side, regardless whether you ever accept me.”

Kevin’s voice echoed in the hall, his earnest expression touched everyone. Looking at the man in front of her, Alayna was also brimming with tears, a thousand emotions welling up inside of her.

“This diamond ring is specially customized for you, it’s called ‘A Heart That Is Forever Beating For You’, will you marry me?”

Alayna’s body trembled. Watching her, Hayden secretly held Alayna’s hand.

She knew better than anyone else the happiness and mixed feelings Alayna was feeling right now.
