Chapter 1855
In the evening, half of the sky was dyed red by the sunset glow. Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
Wilson needed to attend a dinner party on the evening. Tina took a taxi to the Amery family's mansion after work. She went there alone and did not bring Isla with her.
She just came here to fulfill her promise. Not everyone in the Amery family welcomed her. Old Madam Amery was the one who disliked Tina the most. That's why Tina did not bring Isla here. She did not want her daughter to be looked down upon by the old woman.
When the taxi stopped, Tina saw that Bill and Lin were standing in the yard.
They were both wearing heavy coats, and it was obvious that they were waiting for her.
Tina was slightly amazed.
She was especially touched when she saw that Bill's nose was a little red due to the cold wind. Tina said to Bill, "You have just been discharged from the hospital and your immunity has not yet recovered fully. Pleast take care of yourself. You should stay more inside the house!"
Although the sun had not completely set, it was still very cold in such a winter evening in the north.
Bill smiled and said, "I'm fine. Lin and I just wanted to take a stroll here!"
In fact, Bill wanted to see Tina so much. He was worried that Tina would suddenly change her mind and refuse to come over here.
Lin, who knew her husband's thought quite well, said with a smile, "Let's go in first!"
Tina nodded and followed the two of them into the mansion.
As it was winter, the Virginia creeper on the walls of both sides of the Amery family's mansion had withered, but as the servants had taken good care of these plants, they still looked very clean and orderly. After entering through the gate, Tina passed through the hallway, and then there was a large living room on the right side.
Tina was invited to the Amery family as a guest today. She did not bring any valuable gift. After a long time of hesitation, she finally decided to bring a bunch of flowers as the gift.
She did not want others to misunderstand that she had any intention of currying favour with the Amery family.
The reason why Tina came here for dinner was that she had promised Bill for it, as the latter invited her to such a dinner in order to express his gratitude. In this way, Bill repaid what Tina had done to him. Tina did not want the Amery family and herself to have any mental burden.
In the living room, Old Master Amery and Abby were sitting on the sofa.
There were cups of tea and snacks on the tea table. When Old Master Amery saw Tina coming in, he smiled kindly and greeted her.
Abby, who was sitting aside, stood up and greeted Tina gracefully.
Tina nodded nonchalantly as a response.
Old Master Amery looked at the two young ladies and felt that they were full of energy. He raised his hand and touched the slightly-white beard on his chin, and then his smile deepened a little. "Abby had grown up in our family since she was a very little child. You're both young. I think the two of you should have a great many topics to talk about. Besides, I heard from Lin that you and Abby are both apparel designers. I hope that the two of you will become very good friends in the future!"
Abby nodded with a smile. "You're right, Grandpa!"
Tina smiled and said nothing.
The harmonious coexistence between Abby and her was absolutely impossible. Abby was not only Tina's rival in love, but she had also conflicted with Tina in the Fashion Week which was held not long ago, as well as the contest of apparel design for Mrs. Holman.
After all, for more than 20 years, Abby had not known Tina's existence beyond the Amery family, and vice versa. When the two of them met each other, they would only feel embarrassed and alienated to each other.
After sitting down, Tina and Abby seemed to have very few topics to talk about.
Seeing this, Old Master Amery took the initiative to order the chef to start the dinner. Everyone stood up and went to the dining room.
Tina actually wanted the dinner to be finished as quickly as possible.
In the dining room, the long dining table was fully placed with delicate dishes, and the servants and the chef were still busy in the kitchen nearby.
Tina could tell that it was by no means an ordinary meal, but a very meticulously-prepared one.
Everyone took their seats respectivly.
Old Master Amery was sitting in the main seat, with Bill and Tina on the left, Lin and Abby on the right, while Old Madam Amery's seat was in the middle.
Ever since Tina entered the house, she had not seen Old Madam Amery.
In fact, Old Madam Amery was at home today. She knew that Tina would call upon them, yet she did not show up deliberately.
Tina did not care about it.
At this moment, the dinner was ready to begin. They were all waiting for Old Madam Amery.
Old Master Amery had already ordered one of the servants to go upstairs and inform his wife that the dinner was ready, yet Old Madam Amery did not come down for a long time. Obviously, it was because there was someone she did not like in the dining room.
The atmosphere gradually became a little bit embarrassing.
When Old Master Amery frowned and wanted to ask the servants to urge his wife again, Abby said understanding^, "Let me go upstairs and tell
Granny that the dinner will begin soon!"
Old Master Amery nodded. "Uh-huh." His eyebrows relaxed a little.
Five minutes later, supported by Ab by, Old Madam Amery finally came downstairs.
She did not even look at Tina. She just sat down directly.
Old Madam Amery's attitude towards Tina was very obvious. Her face was darkened all the time, yet she did not say anything.
Before Tina came over here, Old Master Amery had already told his wife in person that she should restrain her temper.
As everyone was there, Old Master Amery said, "Okay... It's time for dinner!"
Every dish on the table was exquisite and delicious. However, only Old Master Amery and Bill, Lin felt happy and enjoyed the dishes thoroughly, while Tina, Old Madam Amery, and Abby were either considering how to protect herself, or how to harm her opponent.
Old Madam Amery and Abby's attitudes were especially hostile.
Old Master Amery's blood pressure was on the high side, and he seldom drank wine in his daily life, but today he made an exception and poured a small glass of wine for himself.
He raised his glass. "Tina, I want to toast you on behalf of the Amery family!"
Knowing that both his son and daughter-in-law liked Tina very much, Old Master Amery unconsciously began to presume that Tina was also a member of the Amery family.
He said solemnly and seriously, "the Amery family owes you a lot, Tina. Thank you for neglecting the unhappiness of the past and being willing to donate your bone marrow to Bill. You not only have saved Bill, but also have saved the whole Amery family!"
It was true. If something tragic happened to Bill, Old Master and Old Madam Amery would have suffered from a heavy blow, and it would be very difficult for the Amery family to recover from it.
Old Madam Amery's expression became unnatural.
Tina held up the glass nearby, which contained tea. "Old Master Amery, you're so kind to me!"
She clinked her glass with Old Master Amery's gently, which meant that she and accepted the Old Master's gratitude.
After Old Master Amery put down his wine glass, he paused for a while and continued, "Tina, I hope you can feel the sincerity of our family. Now, you're not only Bill's daughter, but also a benefactor of the Amery family. I hope that you will be willing to call upon us more often in the future! I have already ordered the servants to reserve a room that has the best natural lighting for you on the second floor!"
The Old Master's words meant that the Amery family was taking the initiative to show their kindness to Tina and wanted to recognize her as a new family member.
Abby's heart was billowing with mixed emotions.
Her eyes instantly drooped, and her expression gradually became gloomy.
From the moment Abby learned that Tina and Bill were actually father and daughter, she knew that Tina would be admitted into the Amery family as a new family member sooner or later. After Tina donated her bone marrow to Bill, it became more clear that the aforesaid admission of Tina into the Amery family was inevitable. Abby knew that the only thing she could do to prevent it from happening was to echo and support Old Madam Amery's opinions.
Abby did not say anything, yet she glanced at Old Madam Amery from the corners of her eyes.
As expected, Old Madam Amery's face suddenly darkened, and she could no longer hold back her anger. "What did you say just now? Isn't it enough to invite her to have a meal at home? How dare you want to give her a room at our house?"
Old Master Amery looked at his wife unhappily and warned her with his eye expressions. "Didn't you hear what I said just now clearly?"
