Chapter 1956
Chapter 1956
While Mia was packing up inside her room, Desmond was sitting on a little chair in the living room and waiting.
He almost didn't know how to stretch out his long legs naturally and comfortably.
In fact, Desmond was a little impatient, as the seven large and white geese behind the fence were still staring at him aggressively.
But before Desmond left home, Old Master Borbon chased after him with his cane in his hand, and emphasized to his grandson repeatedly, "Be a gentleman, be a gentleman..."
Mia didn't let Desmond wait for a long time. In less than 10 minutes, she came out of her room.
She was only carrying a suitcase with her.
However, the suitcase was very large, which made Mia's delicate figure look even smaller.
Mia asked Desmond as if she was uncertain, "Is your house large?"
Desmond replied, "Our new house is located in the Roman New Town near the river. It's a detached three-storey villa with a courtyard, and it has a basement. It should be large enough, I think."
Desmond thought that it would be enough for two persons, a husband and a wife, to live together in that house.
Mia looked relieved. "That's good!"
Desmond didn't forget Old Master Borbon's advice that he should behave like a gentleman and treat girls like ladies. He took the initiative to help Mia carry the suitcase. It wasn't too heavy indeed. "Just this suitcase?"
"Yes." Mia nodded. "But there are still..."
Desmond kept on behaving like a gentleman. "What else?"
Mia answered, "There are also seven white geese in the courtyard, as well as a dog, a cat, and two gray rabbits in the backyard."
In fact, Mia didn't stay in the countryside all the year round.
She had raised the aforesaid animals for a long time. When she was busy, or when she left the countryside, her neighbors would help her to take care of the animals, which all along had been fed properly.
Desmond didn't know what to say. "..."
Mia pursed her lips and asked, "Can I bring them with me?"
"Of course... You can't!" Desmond thought.
However, Desmond opened his mouth and said something against his will, "Sure.... You can!"
"Damn it! What did I say?" Desmond thought.
It was because... Being stared at by Mia's bright and clever eyes, Desmond felt it difficult to refuse her, especially when he suddenly noticed that there was a small and lovely "tear mole" under the corner of her right eye. In other words, Desmond was enchanted by Mia's female fascination.
Seeing that Desmond didn't object to her proposal, Mia smiled.
Desmond momentarily became absent-minded because of Mia's charming smile. He felt that she was a girl who could be easily satisfied.
The marriage between Desmond and Mia was quickly put on the agenda.
Desmond hadn't expected that he would someday become subject to a so-called "flash marriage".
A week after Mia was invited to the city, the wedding ceremony was held.
All of these were carried out under Old Master Borbon's plan.
In fact, Old Master Borbon was a very thoughtful person. He started to arrange for the marriage between Desmond and Mia one year after Daniel Chadwick passed away. The Old Master secretly adjusted some terms of his agreement with his old friend, namely, he replaced the notion of "taking care of Mia as if she's my own granddaughter" with "taking care of Mia as if she's my own granddaughter-in-law".
However, Old Master Borbon was, after all, not an old villian. He still respected Mia Chadwick's own choice.
Mia's marriage with Desmond would come into effect only when she felt that he was a good candidate for her husband.
Old Master Borbon was naturally very kind to girls of the younger generation. Why had Selene Chin developed her bad temper and arrogance? It was not only because she was the only girl of the third generation in the Chin family, but also because Old Master Borbon had doted on her.
In the Old Master's eyes, boys were to be raised with strict discipline and punishment, while girls were to be raised with good treatment and encouragement.
Now that he was to have his granddaughter-in-law very soon, Old Master Borbon was in good mood every day.
As for the wedding ceremony, Desmond's parents were very open-minded. They cherished and valued their future daughter-in-law very much. Afraid that they might not be kind enough to Mia, they sincerely asked her what types of wedding ceremonies she wanted.
Mia thought that Desmond was her Mr. Right, and therefore she would accept any arrangement.
She asked in surprise, "Can I put forward my own request?"
Desmond's parents nodded. They thought Mia would be an ideal daughter-in-law, and therefore they would accept any request.
Mia said that she wanted a Chinese-style wedding ceremony. Desmond's parents made the decision on the spot, and the wedding style was nailed down. Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
Although the time schedule was tight, it was possible to do anything if a great deal of money was spent.
For this reason, the marriage between Desmond and Mia was held in time. Today, Desmond was wearing a traditional groom's costume in red color, while Mia was wearing the bride's costume with phoenix coronet and robes of rank. Each of them held one end of a red silk belt, which symbolized marriage tie, and worshipped heaven and earth by kneeling down.
The Chinese-style wedding ceremony was a very gorgeous one.
A great many family members, relatives, friends, as well as cronies of Desmond, were invited.
Tina and Wilson were also present, and they toasted and wished that Desmond and Mia a happy future. Desmond had been quite lonesome when he attended the wedding ceremony of Tina and Wilson not long ago. Now, wearing the groom's costume, Desmond inexplicably felt high-spirited and excited... so that he drank a great deal of wine.
Mia was sitting on the wedding bed which was covered with petals of beautiful flowers, waiting for her groom to lift the bride's veil.
She was extremely nervous.
Desmond finally came over there, but he was carried to the scene by his cronies, or "bad friends", to be more specific. He was then thrown onto the bed by his friends.
As the groom was heavily drunk, all the guests in the bridal chamber left.
Mia had to lift her bride's veil by herself and take off her phoenix coronet.
Glancing at Desmond who had fallen into sleep, Mia rolled up her wide sleeves and tried her best to move her groom to a suitable place on the bed.
Although Desmond looked quite thin, his muscles were strong. Mia had to make great efforts to put his head on the pillow.
She then took off Desmond's wedding costume and the rest of his clothes. She was too embarrassed to take off his underwear. After that, she covered him with the silk quilt.
After taking a shower and changing into pajamas, Mia lay down on the other side of the bed.
She stared at Desmond under the bright moonlight.
"In that case, we won't do that thing tonight, right?" she thought.
Thinking of this, she breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time felt a little disappointed.
Realizing that she was indeed disappointed, Mia blushed and shook her head in a panic to get rid of the "erotic scenes" in her head.
The next day...
When Desmond went downstairs, Mia was already sitting in the dining room.
The breakfast and the tableware were placed on the dining table.
After all, it was the first day after their marriage, and both of them felt a little embarrassing.
After Desmond sat down, he coughed and tried to make conversation. "Mia, what are you going to do today?"
Generally speaking, the daily life of young ladies in their circle was basically to go shopping, drink coffee with friends, or attend a banquet at night.
Mia replied, "I'm going to school."
The corners of Desmond's eyes twitched out of shock.
He had almost forgotten that his little wife was still a student at the age of 20.
Desmond calmly replied with a 'Hum'. He then picked up a small wonton in his bowl and put it into his mouth.
The chicken soup and shrimp stuffing filled between his lips and teeth, giving off a delicious smell. Desmond suddenly realized something and asked in surprise, "Did you make the breakfast?"
Before his marriage, Desmond had been living in his parents' house. After arriving in the city, Mia had been staying at Old Master Borbon's villa.
They had just moved into this new house, and the servants hired would come over here tomorrow.
"Uh-huh." Mia nodded. She was tender and nice in her nature. She asked in a sweet voice, "Does it taste good?"
Desmond's answer was very straightforward. "It's terrific!"
Mia had personally kneaded dough to make the wonton skins, rather than directly using wonton skins bought from the market, which were made by machine. The wontons contained chicken soup, shrimp stuffing, mushrooms, seafood, etc. What's more, each of the wontons was made delicate and small-sized. Desmond felt that these were the most delicious wontons that he had ever eaten.
He finished half a bowl of wontons directly and asked with great interest, "What else can you cook? Do you know how to cook porridge?"
Mia asked, "Do you want to eat porridge?"
Desmond replied casually, "I'm not necessarily eager to eat porridge."
Mia said, "Then I'll cook some tomorrow morning!"
Desmond replied, "Hum."
This was a hint of pride and happiness in his tone.
He picked up the porcelain bowl with a golden rim in his hand and drank up all the wonton soup. Even the leftovers of coriander at the bottom of the bowl were eaten p by him.
After putting down the bowl, Desmond suddenly felt that his marriage was quite good.
At the same time, he was very curious about something.
He hadn't found a good opportunity to ask his wife before. Now, Desmond was sitting in the chair with his arms crossed in front of his chest and gazing at his dear wife. "Mia, why did you agree to
marry me?"
