Chapter 53 That Piano Piece
Lexie looked at Anaya with a hint of triumph in her eyes. “So, Anaya can‘t play the piano. Then I
will...”
“I didn‘t say I couldn‘t,” Anaya stood up and smiled. “I didn‘t play the piano in Mr. Maltz‘s villa, but I learned it myself.”
“Really?”
Lexie obviously did not believe Anaya.
As far as Lexie could remember, Anaya was just a love-struck woman who swooned over Joshua.
Anaya knew nothing but please Joshua.
Lexie looked at Anaya with ridicule in her eyes. “Ok then. Why don‘t you go up and give it a try?”
“Maybe not. I‘m not as good as you. Ms. Dunbar. Why don‘t you play first and set an example for me?” Anaya said calmly
Thinking that Anaya got cold feet, Lexie smiled even brighter. She said, “Anaya, since you‘re so
modest, I might as well go first.”
Lexie sat next to the piano, opened the piano lid, got herself in the mood, and moved her fingers.
Although playing the piano was just a hobby, Lexie had played it for eight years, and her skills were good. She didn‘t play the wrong note.
But she was overconcentrating on the accuracy, and her performance was stiff and emotionless.
Yet it had to be admitted that, in amateurs‘ eyes, she was good enough.
Lexie finished playing, and everyone applauded and praised her.
Lexie enjoyed the praise of the crowd and looked at Anaya complacently. “It‘s your turn.”
Anaya smiled, smoothed the folds of her dress, and sat down on the leather stool. NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
She sat straight. Her neck was slender, and she put her fair hands on the piano keys.
After a few seconds of silence, her slender fingers rose and fell, and beautiful notes flowed out
from her hands
Many people slowly closed their eyes and listened quietly.
The theme of the song was calm and peaceful, like the distant sky after the sun settling pale blue light, tranquil and elegant.

Joshua stared at the woman sitting in the middle of the crowd without blinking.
He was familiar with the piece she was playing.
He had heard it in his senior year.
Back then, his mother was pushing him to study business management. Moreover, he had to deal with heavy schoolwork and countless math competitions. He was so stressed that he couldn‘t
sleep.
One day, he took a break and was lying on the lawn outside the music room building. He heard someone playing a piece, which was the one Anaya was playing right now.
That day, he slept well for the first time in a long time.
He went back and searched for the original piece, but no matter how many times he listened to it, he couldn‘t be amazed. He couldn‘t get the feeling he had in the music room back.
He asked around, trying to find out who was in the music room that day. Everyone said that the
piece was difficult, and only Lexie could play it.
But he heard Lexie playing it. Though she could play the piece in its entirety, something was different.
He looked for the performer for more than a month and finally ended up with nothing.
It turned out to be Anaya.
In all the years he had known her, he had never known she could play the piano.
It was as if he had never known her.
After the piano sound stopped, everyone present was still immersed in the lingering rhythm of the music, unable to come back to their senses for a long time.
After a few seconds of silence, deafening applause ignited the banquet hall.
“Darnn! Anaya plays the piano so wel!”
*1 don‘t know anything about piano, but I think she‘s amazing.”
“If she hadn’t spent so much time around Joshua. I think she would have been a piano star in high
school!”
Lexie heard their praise. She forced a smile and also praised, ‘Anaya, you play really well.”
I’m no match for you, Ms. Dunbar,” Anaya said with a bright smile.
Lexie was so angry that she gritted her teeth.
She thought, Anaya, you are just mocking me, saying that I wasn‘t as good as you!
Lexię turned to look at Joshua to seek comfort.
However, she saw that he was also looking at Anaya. He was staring at Anaya without blinking, yet he did not realize it.
Lexie clenched her fists.
Anaya returned to Aracely’s side, and Aracely gave her a thumbs–up. “Anaya, you are so badass! Did you see that? Someone was so pissed off! Yet she still pretended to be calm.”
Lexie was standing not far away. Hearing this, she secretly glared at Aracely.
Aracely gave Lexie the finger and stuck her tongue out at Lexie, which made Lexie even more furious. She had to maintain her well–educated, lady–like image. Otherwise, she would have come to Aracely and fought with Aracely.
A girl reminded Aracely, “Aracely, watch your mouth, or someone might hit you.”
Aracely snorted and held Anaya‘s arm, saying, “Anaya is here. I‘m afraid of no one! With my short– fused bestie, who dares to provoke me?”
“Are you praising me or mocking me?” Anaya laughed.
The girl said, “But she‘s right, Anaya. You used to have a temper. I still remember that when we
were in our sophomore year, a punk was pestering you all day long. You brought someone and beat him up hard. After that, we were able to have some peaceful times.
“At that time, we even secretly gave you a tacky nickname, ‘Bloody Rose‘.”
A boy echoed. “Seriously, given how short–tempered you were, you would have turned the world upside down without Mr. Dutt.
“We haven‘t seen you for a year, and you are so restrained now. Is it because you married Joshua?”
The moment the boy said so, he hurriedly stopped,
Anaya had just divorced Joshua not long ago. He touched Anaya’s sore spot by bringing this up.
“Not really,‘ Anaya smiled indifferently. “I used to be pampered by Grandpa, so I could do whatever
I wanted in the past year, I have been bullied in all possible ways every day, naturally, I have to
restrain my temper.”
Someone asked, “Who has the guts to bully our campus belle?”
The people around were a little embarrassed.
Who Anaya was referring to was very obvious.
Joshua and Anaya had been married for a year. Shortly after the divorce, Joshua brought Lexie everywhere together with him to get her familiar with others. Tonight, he was always by Lexie‘s side and didn’t say a word to Anaya. Whoever wasn‘t stupid could tell that something was not right.
The person who asked the question, however, was completely unaware and continued, “Anaya, tell me. I will make things right for you.”
“No need. I have nothing to do with that person anyway. Thanks.”
Joshua and Lexie stood together, and they were very close to Anaya and the others. He heard
Anaya and the others’ conversation easily.
Anaya looked like a whole new different person after divorcing him.
She looked so carefree and outstanding, which made him frustrated.
He clenched the glass in his hand as if to break it.
After the meal, the male monitor proposed to sing karaoke and drink.
There was a similar event last year where the group partied until midnight.
Anaya followed everyone out.
She wanted to go to the hospital to bring Adams his midnight snack, and she was planning on
saying goodbye to others in the parking lot.
Joshua and Lexie were behind Anaya not far away.
Karen followed by Lexie‘s side, staring at Anaya all the time.
Karen thought, I just checked. The law that Anaya mentioned is not real!
She was fooling me!
Karen wanted to make Anaya angry, so she deliberately raised her voice and said, “Lexie, when are you and Joshua getting married? Don‘t forget to let me know.”
Karen brought this up out of the blue to upset Anaya
The people around were chatting at first, Hearing her words, they all quieted down and looked at
the protagonists
They became onlookers at once.
Lexie glanced at Joshua shyly and said, “Joshua and I just got back together, so maybe not
anytime soon. It’s up to him. I‘m OK if he is.”
There was a bit of expectation in her eyes, and she wanted Joshua to make a statement.
However, Joshua had no intention of opening his mouth at all. He just continued walking forward
in silence.
Lexie was a little embarrassed.
