Chapter 133
Chapter 133
Hearing Carlos call her, Mikayla rose from the couch, handed the items in her hand to a housekeeper, and walked over. She and Carlos went to chat with Garrett and Selena. Just then, the housekeeper brought over several cups of coffee.
Carlos first offered coffee to Garrett, saying, "Dad, please have some coffee."
"Thank you." Garrett smiled as he took a cup and sipped.
At the same time, Mikayla took another cup from the housekeeper and offered it to Selena in a pleasant tone. "Selena, please have some coffee as well."
Just as Selena was about to take the cup, Mikayla felt someone push her from behind. She lost her balance, and the coffee was about to spill, but Carlos quickly shielded Selena with a handkerchief, preventing the coffee from spilling all over her. He also supported Mikayla, keeping her from falling to the ground. At the same time, the cup fell to the ground, causing a loud, shattering noise.
"Mika, are you okay?" Carlos asked anxiously.
Mikayla shook her head and looked at Carlos. There were some coffee stains on his hand and his black suit. He got a tissue from a housekeeper and wiped his hands and clothes. The impact was not harsh, but it caught her completely off guard.
"Carlos, Mikayla, are you both all right?" Selena asked with concern.
Behind Mikayla, a housekeeper was trembling, her body shaking as she stammered, "I-I accidentally bumped into Mrs. Ludwig. I'm so sorry." As she said that, she began to choke up.
"What's wrong with you? What if you had burned Mikayla or us? Is this your first day working at the Ludwig mansion?" Selena rarely spoke so sternly. "Enough! Forgive her. Today is an important day," Garrett said. Next, he smiled and instructed a middle-aged housekeeper, "Myla, please bring another cup of coffee."
"Yes, sir," Myla Lindry replied.
Hearing Garrett's words, Selena smiled again. "You're right!"
Soon, Myla brought in another cup of coffee.
Mikayla took it and handed it to Selena, saying, "Selena, please have some coffee."
"Thank you. From now on, you're the new member of the family." Selena beamed at Garrett. She took a sip and handed the coffee cup back to the housekeeper, saying, "Mika, don't mind what just happened. Now that you're married into the Ludwig family, you're like a daughter to us. We'll treat you just like our own."
"I won't, Selena," Mikayla responded gracefully.
After chatting for awhile, Carlos suggested to Mikayla, "Mika, let me show you my room."This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.
Mikayla looked at him.
Selena smiled and said, "Oh, right! Mikayla has been here twice already but hasn't seen Carlos' room yet. Go upstairs and have a look."
Mikayla nodded slightly and took the mary gift from Garrett and Selena and the portrait from Natasha before going upstairs with Carlos. They walked to a room at the very end of the corridor, and Carlos pushed open the door. The spacious room had clearly been cleaned in advance. The black-and-white color scheme gave it a more serious atmosphere compared to their mansion's design. 'Does this mean we'll spend the night here together on the same bed?' Mikayla pondered.
"Mika, are you thinking about how to
spend the night with me?" Carlos teased, coming out of the walk-in closet. He saw Mikayla staring at the bed, lost in thought. Her delicate face was makeup-free, and from his angle, he could see her long eyelashes, pretty nose, and those alluring pink lips that drove him crazy.
"Of course not!" Mikayla quickly refuted, embarrassed that he had read her thoughts.
Carlos smiled knowingly as he took off his suit jacket. Mikayla turned around, casually placed the items in her hands on the desk, and went to the bathroom to freshen up. When she came out, Carlos had already changed his clothes.
"You can leave these things here for now," he said, glancing at the mary gift and the portrait on the desk. It wasn't convenient for her to carry them around.
"Okay!" Mikayla responded. Carlos then took the two mary gifts and locked them in the safety deposit box. "We'll leave them here."
The portrait was too wide to fit in the
safety deposit box. After putting the mary gifts away, Mikayla glanced at the portrait on the desk and followed Carlos out of the room. The two went downstairs hand in hand. By then, Garrett had left the living room, likely to attend to some work.
The moment Natasha saw them, her face lit up with a smile. "Carlos, can you take me for a walk outside?" Natasha inquired sweetly, her eyes filled with anticipation.
Mikayla reflected on how she would gladly fulfill Natasha's requests if she had a younger sister as sweet and innocent as her.
"Carlos, take Natasha out for a walk. She's been talking about your visit since yesterday. She also got up early this morning to help me prepare for your and Mikayla's arrival," Selena said from the couch, smiling.
"Do you I want to wait here or come with us?" Carlos asked Mikayla.
Mikayla glanced at Natasha and said, "I'll stay here and chat with Selena. You guys go ahead." She didn't want to intrude on the time between the siblings.
Carlos nodded and took the wheelchair from the housekeeper. Natasha's face beamed with joy as she pointed to the back garden, asking Carlos to take her there. Mikayla sat down on the couch next to Selena.
"Make a cup of coffee for Mikayla," Selena instructed a housekeeper. Then, she turned to Mikayla and asked, "Would mocha be alright?" "Anything is fine," Mikayla replied with a smile.
"Get going," Selena said to the housekeeper. Looking at the back of Carlos pushing Natasha toward the garden, Selena showed a smile of relief. "Mikayla, I hope you don't mind Natasha clinging to Carlos like that."
"Why would I? I'm happy to become her sister-in-law," Mikayla replied with a smile.
After a while, the housekeeper brought over freshly brewed mocha.
Mikayla accepted it and took a sip. Concerned, she inquired, "Selena, is there any hope of curing Natasha's legs?"
Selena looked at Mikayla and sighed. "Natasha has congenital heart disease." In the end, Selena didn't finish her sentence, shook her head, and excused herself. It seemed that things weren't going well for Natasha.
'Congenital heart disease coupled with acquired disability,' Mikayla pondered. She sat alone on the couch, watching TV dramas to pass the time. Suddenly, she heard Natasha's sweet laughter from outside. "Carlos, I'm glad to have you as a brother."
