Reckless Marriage Unyielding Love

Chapter 137

Chapter 137

Natasha's sickness acted up all night, stirring up a commotion in the Ludwig family.

That showed how serious her condition was.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!

Just as Mikayla and Carlos went downstairs hand in hand, all ready to leave, Myla, who took care of Natasha, ran in from outside and shouted in a panic, "Bad news, Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig! Ms. Ludwig had a seizure and passed out in the garden!"

Mikayla was stunned.

"I'll go check!" After dropping that, Carlos strode toward Myla. After asking about the situation, Selena also zipped out of the room. A group of people began to bolt outside.

'For real? What a coincidence,' was Mikayla's thought. Of course, she did not wish to read into it. The point was that Natasha fainted right after she and Carlos stepped away.

Regardless, she marched ahead and followed Carlos. A heart attack was no joke, after all.

Mikayla just stepped out of the hall when she saw Carlos returning from the garden with Natasha in his arms.

Before she could ask, Natasha's delicate voice came, and Carlos stopped. "I'm sorry, Mikayla. I didn't mean it. Really."

"Sorry for what?" Mikayla was confused to see tears on Natasha's cheeks. 'Why's she apologizing just because she fainted?' she wondered. Almost at the same time, she also noticed that there was something off with the gazes toward her from the crowd, including Selena, who had always been kind to her.

Carlos pursed his thin lips, carried Natasha into the living room, and put her on the couch. Mikayla, who had no clue about what was going on, followed.

"Mom, keep an eye on Natasha. I'll get Dr. Guzman." Carlos laid Natasha down and spoke to Selena before picking up the phone and walking to the side.

"I'm sorry! I shouldn't have been so close to Carlos, Mikayla. Don't be angry," Natasha cried out emotionally. Suddenly, she covered her chest and began to gasp for air.

"Calm down, my darling Natasha," Selena was beside her daughter, whispering with tears.

Mikayla simply stood there, frowning and watching Natasha.

"Mikayla..." choked out Natasha.

Myla, who had always been by Natasha's side, rushed in with a painting torn in half. "It was you, wasn't it? You threw this painting she gave you and Mr. Ludwig into the water. What has she ever done to you? Is it because she's clingy to Mr. Ludwig? Why must you treat her like this?" After saying that, Myla could not help crying.

"Myla!" Natasha chided before turning to Mikayla. "I'll be extra careful next time, Mikayla. Don't get mad at me. Don't-" Before she could finish, her chest heaved violently and her breathing became increasingly rapid as if somebody was strangling her. Her face turned all the paler.

Everybody there was hustling about Natasha. Only Mikayla stood there quietly, watching the scene alongside Natasha's play. She clearly saw those provocative, clear eyes of Natasha, seemingly smug and wicked before closing as Natasha passed out.

From Mikayla's perspective, Natasha was right in the nick of time to pull off such a drama before she and Carlos hit the road. Natasha even controlled herself so well that Mikayla had no time or any chance to refute.

Should all of that be Natasha's scheme all along, Mikayla vowed to seek justice for herself.

Moments later, Carlos came back after the call and saw Natasha faint. As for what Natasha had said, Mikayla could only guess how much Carlos had heard and believed.

Carlos took a deep look at Natasha, then wheeled around and made another call. His voice was not loud, but he clearly explained what was happening with Natasha.

It did not take long before the ambulance reached the mansion. Conor, who had been there before, dashed over. The first-aid medical team carried Natasha on a stretcher as Selena wiped her tears and followed Conor to board the ambulance.

Carlos, for one, hopped into the ambulance for a while before he alighted again to approach Mikayla. The man held her cheek with one hand. "Everything's gonna be okay. Don't worry."

It was at that moment that Mikayla looked Carlos in the eye and did not know what she herself was thinking save the mixed feelings within.

Finally, Mikayla broke the silence between them. "Let's go to the hospital."

Seeing that she finally spoke, Carlos beamed. "Right."

Carlos fetched the car from the garage, and they drove all the way to the downtown hospital.

On the way, Carlos took the wheel with one hand while holding Mikayla's hand tightly with the other, comforting her.

As for Mikayla, she appeared collected. Her mind, though, drifted far, far away.

When they arrived, Garrett showed up, too.

Carlos comforted his parents. The four of them were outside the operating room, looking at the flashing emergency light and falling speechless for a moment.

The long corridor was quiet except for the sound of Garrett pacing back and forth, inducing an anxious vibe.

Time passed. The door to the operating room opened. Conor came out, and Garrett, Selena, Carlos, and Mikayla stepped forward.

"Dr. Guzman, how's my girl?" Selena asked anxiously.

Conor removed his mask and reproached, Didn't I tell you last night not to ever agitate her? Ms. Ludwig's condition is stable for now. She needs to stay for observation first everything's fine, then she can go home. Remember not to provoke her again."

"Yes, Dr. Guzman," Selena replied, peeking inside the operating room worriedly.

Garrett mustered a smile and followed Conor to the consultation room.

The next second, Natasha in a white and blue hospital gown was pushed out by the nurse. She looked pale. Traces of tears were still vivid on her fragile face as she kept murmuring, "Mikayla, I didn't mean it..."

Natasha could easily be awarded the best actress in some TV shows, so to speak.

Pursing her lips, Mikayla beheld Natasha and said nothing.

"Enough, Natasha. Have a good rest and stop talking," Selena comforted Natasha gently. Noticing zero comforting words from Mikayla, she did not comment further on that matter.

Mikayla could already tell it from their behaviors and gazes. Every single one of them had passed judgment on her.

In their book, Mikayla was the

vicious sister-in-law who could not

bear to see how close Natasha and Carlos were. She was deemed to be exacting revenge, which was why she tore up the painting that Natasha gave her and Carlos and threw it into the water.

Natasha leveraged her own weakness and framed Mikayla perfectly.
