Chapter 146 Reunion
At first, Jacob thought it was probably just some audacious kidnappers. But as time passed, his
confidence waned, and a fear crept into his heart. He was afraid that his enemies were behind all of
this.
He feared that one day there would be a box at his doorstep, containing the lifeless bodies or some
body parts of them.
The current situation was like throwing a stone into a deep well, with no echo or clue as to what was
happening beneath the surface.
Jacob's once admirable patience and composure crumbled over time. He dared not sleep, for
whenever he closed his eyes, the images of the bloodshed he had witnessed before would transform
into Avery and Ethan.
On the seventh day, Jacob finally collapsed. He hadn't eaten or drunk anything for days, nor had he
slept. He watched the surveillance footage repeatedly until his eyes turned bloodshot, but none of the
people he had dispatched had brought back any useful information.
Early on New Year's Day, John discovered Jacob unconscious in the bathroom and immediately called
the family doctor.
No one expected that Avery would sneak back to Astrie with Ethan.
Ethan thought that Avery had brought him to another place to play, unaware that this time it would be
their farewell. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
The past few days had seen heavy snowfall in Astrie. The branches were laden with snow, and Avery
made a snow rabbit on a chair, bringing smiles to Ethan's face.
This child was truly adorable, and Avery adored him to the extreme.
Reluctantly, she stroked Ethan's head and said, "Honey, it is time to say goodbye. Be a good boy and
go home to find your mother. Grow up well."
Ethan felt that something was amiss, but Avery handed him a balloon which immediately caught his
attention.
Avery swiftly let go of the child. Feeling her intention of leaving, Ethan discarded the balloon and ran
toward her, shouting incessantly, "Mommy, Mommy..."
He hadn't run more than a few steps when he stumbled and fell heavily into the snow. But even so, he
didn't give up. Ignoring the coldness of the snow, he crawled toward Avery with all his strength.
He didn't understand what he had done wrong that his mother suddenly didn't want him anymore.
"Mommy!" He could only watch as Avery quickened her pace and soon disappeared from his sight.
Madison heard the sound, wondering how there could be a child crying in such heavy snow.
She followed the sound and was astonished to see Ethan. "Mr. Ethan..."
She couldn't believe that she would find Ethan on her way to buy groceries. Jacob had searched every
corner of the city without success.
"Oh, Mr. Ethan, your father has been anxiously looking for you."
Madison picked up Ethan while informing John about finding the child.
Only after witnessing this scene did Avery make a hasty departure.
Jacob's high fever refused to subside, and he kept muttering Avery's name.
Madison joyfully brought the child back. His eyes were still glistening with tears.
"My precious baby, don't cry. Go and see your father." Madison wiped away his tears.
As if feeling something, Jacob slowly opened his eyes. When he saw Ethan, he thought he was
dreaming.
"Daddy!" Ethan called out to him, and Jacob immediately held the child in his arms.
Bliss overwhelmed his heart as he looked at Madison. "What happened?"
Madison slapped her thigh and excitedly began her storytelling, "Mr. Hill, I had a dream last night. I
dreamt that I found an egg, and guess what was inside the shell? It was Mr. Ethan. So, I reckoned that
I would find him very soon, and lo and behold..."
Jacob furrowed his brow. "Why don't you cut to the chase? Get to the point."
