Chapter 132 Nothing Remains Unchanged
Chapter 132 Nothing Remains Unchanged
Edric had always felt very guilty towards Lily. As a matter of fact, he felt that Margaret was the one
responsible for putting Lily in such a state. Lily had such a bright future ahead of her but she was
sucked into this whole predicament.
After finding out that Steven and Deborah were behind all these, he felt even more sorry for Lily. His
guilt towards Lily reached its peak after Marie told him about Lily and her infertility. Edric then decided
to get engaged with Lily although his choice would put Irene in misery.
For starters, he felt indebted to Lily. Though he didn't love her one bit, Lily had always seemed kind and
gentle. He never expected Lily would do such a thing to Irene.
He was not a fool. He knew that Freya was the mastermind behind all this. Edric lamented himself for
making such a huge mistake.
Because of whatever things he did to Irene, he had to end the relationship with Lily.
Edric didn't completely blame Lily. He was still Lily's fiance after all and it was a fact that he cheated on
her with Irene. He had indeed failed Lily. Putting himself in Lily's shoes, he was surely guilty.
However, Irene was innocent. She should not have suffered such pain and humiliation. Edric was ready
to come clean with Margaret so Irene could forgive both of them.
He wanted everyone to know that Irene wasn't supposed to be blamed for any of this. Firstly, he'd have
to break up with Lily. But he never expected that the matter would blow up to such a scale even before
John could carry out his order. Lily was completely decimated in this process. Hence, Edric finally
decided to sever ties with Lily and go back to Irene.
Now Irene had promised to give him another chance. Edric was going to make it clear to Lily that he
would do everything he could to cure her. He would do everything he could to do right by her, but they
should share no relationship whatsoever.
But Lily refused his request to meet, saying that she had to take care of Steven.
It was true that Steven had just fallen ill. Edric didn't want to push her too hard either; thus, he hung up
the phone. Seeing that there was nothing to eat at home, he drove to a nearby supermarket.
Irene didn't wake up till the next day. As a matter of fact, she was woken up by her rumbling belly.
When she opened her eyes, she found that it was already noon. There was no trace of Edric on the
bed. She struggled to get up from the bed and went downstairs.
The breakfast made by Edric was still on the table. Irene wolfed down the food and went upstairs to
take a bath.
When she came back after taking a shower and changed her clothes, Edric had just returned from the
supermarket. "Are you hungry? I'll whip something up in a jiffy."
"Don't you have to go to the office?" Irene was surprised. Edric was a busy man; he couldn't possibly
have time to cook lunch for her.
"I've taken some time off to stay home with you the next few days," explained Edric.
"It's alright. I will be fine. You better go to the office." She added, "We are starting over anyway. These
few days wouldn't matter. We have all the time in the world."
Edric was extremely happy to hear that. He said softly, "I'll make you some lunch and I will go to the
office."
Since he said so, Irene chose not to stop him. She watched him cook and felt like she couldn't just
stand idly by. She got to the kitchen and asked, "Do you need my help?"
"Just stand there and watch," Edric answered. Edric began washing the pot and Irene recalled how
clumsy he was before. It was all very weird.
Seeing her thoughtful expression, Edric explained, "I can cook now. Isn't it great? After you left, I
missed you and your cooking so much. Loraine's cooking really was not up my alley so I tried to make
some of your recipes from memory. Over the past three years, I have really improved a lot!"
Irene nodded. She didn't know how to respond. He was telling her that he missed her, but she didn't
feel happy at all. She would rather have Edric be pretentious about his feelings so she could leave him
without any guilt!
"I bought your favorite fruits. Help yourself," Edric reminded her.
Irene then turned and looked at him. Edric had bought a crate; therein was filled with cherries.
His voice rang out from behind. "I promise that I will give you the life you want! We can afford all of the
things that you like now."
Irene didn't say anything. He continued, "I will transfer some of the company stocks to you. Then we
will go get Eden to live with us."
Hearing this, Irene was shocked and turned to look at Edric. "No! Eden is doing fine over there. You
can't bring him here!"
"Don't worry. I've found a way to help him. I won't joke around with Eden's condition."
"Let's talk about it later." Irene refused to continue this topic. She never wanted to get back together
with Edric and she definitely was not planning on bringing Eden over.
"I know. I just thought that I should inform you first." Edric knew that he needed to take things one step
at a time.
However, he still had not made it clear to Lily yet. He needed to settle all of his problems to prevent
anything else from harming Irene and Eden.
After lunch, Irene urged Edric to go to the company. After he left, Irene looked around the villa. It had
been several days since she moved into the villa yet this was the first time that she really got a closer
look at it.
Irene took a small tour of the house and realized that Edric really decorated the house to her likings,
such as the kid's rooms, the decor, color theme, and even the furniture options. No wonder people said
that one would slowly mold into the likeness of their partners.
She was lost in her thoughts when Kinsey gave her a call. "Irene, I saw Deborah going to the Immie
Saloon. Do you think I should go in and have a look?"
"Look at what?" Irene had not yet reacted to Kinsey's words and hint. It was not a big deal for Deborah
to enter the beauty salon.
"To take a look at what she is planning! Your father is seriously ill in bed, but she is in the mood for a
hair treatment! Don't you find that a little weird?"
Kinsey didn't know that Steven was faking it, but Irene did. Maybe Steven told Deborah about his plan;
that could explain why Deborah went for some beauty sessions. However, Irene couldn't tell Kinsey
that Steven was faking his illness, therefore she tried to stop Kinsey from pursuing this matter any
further. "Forget it, she probably has her own reasons. You go do your own stuff and leave her be."
Kinsey gave up the idea of following Deborah. They then talked for a while before ending the call.
Marie was not in a good mood after she met with Margaret. She thought that she could turn the tides
with her wits but she never expected Steven to be in such a predicament. D*mn Steven, why did he
have to be caught in this awkward position at this critical time?
Steven deserved to go to hell but he should go alone! Though Marie hated Steven, at that point, she
hoped that Steven was fine. If anything should happen to him, what would possibly happen to Lily?
Deborah must have assumed that the only reason that she helped Lily was because of the hatred she
had for Myra. But in fact, Lily was Marie's biological daughter. How could she watch her own daughter
live in such agony?
Speaking of that, it was not a pleasant memory to Marie too. She had a love-hate relationship with Lily.
Lily was her own flesh and blood but Lily also represented one of her deepest darkest secrets.
If it wasn't for her infertility, she would never have given birth to Lily. And it was all thanks to Myra and
Steven.
Blood was thicker than water. Myra was basically her half-sister and Marie ought to love her. But
unfortunately, they were a pair of sworn enemies.
Marie's mother, Dania was a rich mistress that fell from grace. Because of that, she was forced to
marry Myra's father and that led to the birth of Myra and Thomas.
Myra's father died from tuberculosis and left them behind. It was a really challenging time in fact. Some
time later, Dania met Yohannes Walker, who was an up-and-coming artist in town. He was also a
widowed man who had a son, Dave.
Yohannes was instantly smitten by Dania's beauty and began courting her. Naturally, Dania was
attracted to him and they slowly began an item.
Yohannes then promised Dania that he would take care of Myra and Thomas. It was supposed to be
fantastic news but the Nelson family had to come and ruin things. They forced Dania to make a
decision: stay in the Nelson family with the kids or leave them and go with Yohannes.
It was a very hard decision. Dania had finally met her lover but these kids were her flesh and blood too. All rights © NôvelDrama.Org.
In the end, she chose the former.
Later, Marie found out that someone from the Nelson family had taken an interest in Dania and wanted
to marry her. Dania refused but that man used the children as leverage and forced Dania into marriage.
Dania initially agreed to leave with Yohannes because she was pregnant with Marie. Under those
circumstances, she was forced to make a decision and ended up choosing Yohannes. But she had
never forgotten Myra and Thomas. Marie remembered that Dania had mentioned Myra and Thomas for
as long as she could remember.
Marie was initially very excited to meet Myra but that all turned to dust when they actually met. She was
five years old when it happened. Dania brought them to the Nelson family to meet Myra and Thomas
but they were refused entry. The people from the Nelson family hurled slurs towards her and began
cursing her.
They even called Marie a b*stard, the offspring of the devil. After that, Dania left with her. She was
forever traumatized and resented Myra. Myra was the one that caused them that suffering.
Although Dania was very happy in her marriage with Yohannes, the Walker family was not very kind to
her either. They were very judgmental towards premarital pregnancies. Marie heard people talking and
judging her behind her back. She even caught Dania crying in the room alone.
Yohanna couldn't bear to watch Dania endure that humiliation. Hence, he decided to move out of San
Fetillo with them and start afresh. Without all this gossip and criticism, they were finally happy again.
