Revenge Against My Ex-husband

Chapter 136 To Each His Own

Chapter 136 To Each His Own

Later that night, Edric came home a little earlier than usual. He had lots of questions to ask Irene but

didn't know where to start.

Dania remarried Yohannes. Although Dave was not related to Irene by blood, he was her uncle by

lineage regardless. Edric was upset to think how little he knew about Irene, even though they had been

married for a good five years.

Edric did inquire Irene about her family before the marriage. She claimed that her parents had passed

away and she was left with only one uncle. At that, he did not have the slightest doubt. But even so, he

didn't blame Irene for not telling the truth. Back then to him, going back home only meant spending

some alone time with Irene. He didn't care what she was thinking. Married with such an incompetent

husband, it was no wonder that Irene kept all her thoughts to herself.

Edric dwelled in his own melancholy for a long time. Finally, after dinner, while strolling around the area

with Irene, he tentatively began to ask, "Irene, does your mother have any other siblings besides your

uncle?"

Irene was stunned. "No, I guess not!"

For as long as she could remember, Irene knew she only had one uncle. During Christmas or

Thanksgiving, other children would go back to their grandmother's houses with their respective parents.

At the time, she envied this and demanded to know about her grandparent's whereabouts. Myra told

her that both her grandparents had passed away. Later, when she went back to San Fertillo to visit the

graves, the only grave she saw was only her grandfather's.

Irene once asked Myra where her grandmother's grave was but got no response, and when she saw

Myra's slightly angry look, she didn't dare to ask again.

She had never asked about how many siblings Myra had. As far as Irene could remember, she had

only one uncle, Thomas. And at that time, Thomas and Myra weren't very close yet.

Although Myra rarely took her to visit Thomas, he had always remembered her. He often sent her good

food and bought her gifts for Christmas.

As for Steven, he seemed to dislike Thomas. Steven had never mentioned Thomas at home.

Therefore, Irene figured that Myra's bad relationship with Thomas had something to do with Steven.

It wasn't until Myra died in a car accident that Thomas appeared in Irene's life.

At that time, Thomas handled Myra's funeral alone while Steven was out of town for a meeting. Steven

rushed back as soon as he heard the news of her accident, but Thomas had already cremated Myra.

That was the first time Irene saw Thomas get angry. With red eyes, he punched and kicked Steven in

the face. She and Thomas did not cross paths much. On the contrary, she was much closer to Steven.

But when she saw Thomas beating Steven that day, she didn't feel any hatred towards Thomas at all.

Later, Thomas tried to take her away, but Steven stopped him. She remembered Steven's vicious

warning to Thomas, "Don't make me do it! It'll be ugly If I expose what you did back then!"

In the end, Thomas gave up on taking Irene away. But he told her before he left, "I'll always be at

Chijmes Building in San Fetillo. Irene, come to me if you ever miss me. I'll visit you as often as I can."

After that, Deborah showed up with Lily. As soon as Irene saw Lily, who was already a few years old,

Irene immediately understood Thomas' wrath back then. Irene didn't need such a shameless father.

Therefore, she resolutely left Steven and went back to Thomas.

What was Edric's intention in asking her these questions at this moment? He couldn't have asked them

without reason. Irene asked rhetorically, "Why do you want to know?"

"Nothing. Your mother died when you were little. I was wondering if you have any other relatives you

don't know about..."

Irene interjected, "Other relatives?" Irene stopped and looked at Edric. "For as long as I can remember,

I've known that I only have one uncle. I haven't heard of any other relatives."

"Could it be that your mother didn't tell you about it?" Edric probed tentatively.

Irene glared at Edric. "What do you mean? It's a good thing that I have other family relatives. Why

would my mom not tell me?"

Irene's verbosity left Edric speechless. Just then, it dawned on him that Myra must have known that

Thomas' real identity was Dave. What had kept her from telling Irene about it? Was it because Irene

was too young, or were there other considerations?

If there wasn't anything sinister behind the hidden identity of Thomas, then there must be a reason

Myra chose not to tell Irene the truth. If that was the case, was it appropriate for Edric to tell Irene about

Thomas being Dave?

The point was, this matter hadn't been confirmed yet. It'd be too early for Edric to say anything to Irene.

He should wait for Rowane and Marie to meet and see what happened next.

How did Dave become Thomas? Edric would have to look into the matter carefully before making any

decisions.

Meanwhile, Rowane and Marie were weeping in each other's arms. Rowane was sobbing with joy while

Marie was faking it. She soon stopped crying and persuaded Rowane to stop as well.

After the two stopped, Marie explained to Rowane her choice back then. Although she had been r*ped

at a young age and had gotten pregnant, she could not bear to abort Rowane. After all, she was

innocent. It was difficult for an unmarried woman to take care of a child. As a result, Marie sent Rowane

to an orphanage. Throughout the whole story, all Marie wanted was to gain Rowane's forgiveness.

Rowane forgave Marie right there and then. Marie then asked Rowane how she had been doing all

these years. Naturally, Rowane didn't hide anything and told her everything that had happened over the Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.

years. In fact, Marie was not interested at all in how Rowane had lived all these years. She only wanted

to know how Rowane found her.

Marie was surprised to find that it all started when Rowane found Irene's pendant and that Edric was

looking for her. It wasn't a good thing that Edric knew about this. After a few turns in her mind, Marie

asked Rowane for a favor.

Marie told Rowane that the humiliating incident had a huge impact on her reputation. Hence, Marie

begged Rowane not to reveal their relationship, not even to Edric.

Rowane was slightly hesitant. Edric was very nice to her, and she didn't want to lie to him. Seeing her

hesitation, Marie told Rowane that she and Edric's mother were friends. No one knew that she was

r*ped and got pregnant out of wedlock. If Rowane told Edric about this matter, Margaret would

eventually find out. Marie would never be able to hold her head up again!

It was quite cruel to Rowane to work so hard to find her biological mother and not disclose the

relationship. However, she was a kind person. She searched for Marie for no other reason than to fulfill

her own wish. Rowane knew that Marie was no ordinary doctor. She was a specialist who often

appeared on TV. It wasn't easy for a woman to reach such a position. Hence, Rowane agreed to her

request.

By the time the two walked out of the restaurant, it was late afternoon. Before Marie left, she reminded

Rowane again not to tell Edric about their relationship.

Marie was calculating her next step when she was on her way back. Rowane's stay in San Fetillo was

a huge problem for her. She had to find a way to get Rowane far away from San Fetillo so that Rowane

would never appear there. As for Lily, she couldn't put things off any longer and had to make a quick

decision. Hence, she went to see Margaret right away.

Margaret was confused as to why Marie asked her out at this hour. "What's going on?"

"I saw Deborah at the hospital yesterday. We were chatting about Edric and Lily. Deborah said

something to me that I thought I should tell you," answered Marie.

"What did she say?" Margaret was interested.

"She said you broke your word and didn't keep your promise. And that you treated the engagement like

a charade, and it's a good thing she didn't choose to believe you."

Margaret was fired up to hear that. "Wasn't Lily the one who caused this? What does that have to do

with me?"

"Don't get angry. Hear me out." Marie knew Margaret's temper. "The point is not that Deborah said you

didn't keep your word. The point is about the sports tournament. Deborah left a plan."

"A plan?" parroted Margaret.

"When Irene returned, Deborah already had a plan for the sports tournament to prevent Edric from

returning to Irene, just in case you guys backtracked. I didn't think it would come in handy now." Marie

was a top-notch liar.

"What can Deborah do?" Margaret expressed skepticism.

"Don't underestimate Deborah. She's capable of so much more. I believe she told me this so I could

pass the word on to you. After all, she knows I'm close to you," chirped Marie.

"What exactly does she want to do?" Margaret squinted her eyes.

"Although Deborah is disappointed in Edric, Lily has feelings for him. She can't help it. What Deborah

meant was that if you can get Edric and Lily together, she'll find a way to leave the bidding for the

sports tournament to the Myers Group," stated Marie.

"I knew these two were up to no good. They told me the sports tournament would be fair, yet they

hatched a plan." Margaret was furious.

"It's human nature. This bidding is no trivial matter. Think about it. There are a lot of companies over

there staring and lining up to offer gifts. If you do not show your sincerity to side with them, how could

they give you a bid for nothing?" Marie analyzed, "Since you are now so defensive to them, it is only

normal for them to do the same."

"Since it's normal for them to be wary of me, I should do the same in return. Who knows if what

Deborah said about helping out is true?" Margaret crossed her arms.

"That's easy. As I proposed the other day, you have to find a way to get Edric and Lily together. That

way, Deborah will naturally be relieved to help you out," suggested Marie.

"But Edric doesn't listen to me anymore. He doesn't come home now either. How can I do anything

about it?" Margaret's face was clearly written with exasperation.

"He doesn't come home during the week? What about on your birthday?" Marie reminded

Margaret, "It's your birthday this Friday, and you can request Edric to come back. Then, you create an

opportunity for Lily and Edric to spend time alone together. As for the rest, Lily should be able to handle

it."

"Will that work?" Margaret scratched her chin.

"Why not? You won't lose anything anyway. You'll even get the bid. As for the future, if Lily conceived

Edric's child, you'll let her in your door. If she doesn't, don't worry, you did your best anyway. Deborah

can't do anything about it." Marie sat back and took a sip of her water.

Margaret thought for a moment and chirruped, "That's a good idea."

Marie was relieved to hear that. Only Margaret could help in this matter. As long as she could create

the opportunity for Edric and Lily to share a room, she would have a way, too, to get Lily pregnant with

Edric's child even if Edric didn't touch Lily.
