Chapter 215 Broken Leg
Chapter 215 Broken Leg
"You fool! Do you think you can leave here unharmed?"
The grin on Maisy's face only made Deborah feel worse. She had done a lot of bad things and her
instincts were telling her that something horrible was going to happen. She reached inside her bag for
her phone, planning to tell Lily about her being trapped, but seconds later, all blood drained from her
face. Her call was greeted by a pre-recorded message informing her that she had run out of credit.
With his eyes fixed on Deborah, Steven sneered, "Oh, don't bother. My men have made sure that you
won't be able to use your phone. The only help you can call is the police! Go on! Call the police! I'll be
waiting right here!"
How could Deborah make the call? Her hesitation confirmed her involvement in Myra's death. He took
a thick metal bat from a corner of the study and slowly made his way towards Deborah. The latter knew
she had to get away, but the driver and Maisy were blocking the entrance to the stairway, so she could
not escape from there. At the corners of her eye, she could see Steven grinning and waving his metal
bar. Seeing that he was approaching her at a very steady speed, she jumped from the second floor
without any hesitation, only wanting to survive.
Deborah's screams filled the air as she collapsed onto the ground beneath. Pain shot over her body.
She tried to stand up, but her legs gave in. It dawned upon her that her legs might have
been badly injured. Three heads appeared on the second floor. Their merciless eyes observed as
Deborah wailed in pain.
Moments later, Steven finally stood beside Deborah. Watching her wail in pain, he raised the metal bar
in his grasp and smashed it down on her head.
Deborah's shrieks continued, but Steven showed no sign of stopping. Deborah's disfigured face was
soaked with blood. As the exhausted Steven continued to bring down the metal bar, he was pulled back
by Maisy, "That's enough, Mr. Cook. She'll die if you go on."
Steven cast the metal bar aside and said, "Send this mad woman to the asylum and lock her up. Make
sure to never give her treatment! I want her to spend the rest of her life in there!"
Soon, Deborah was sent to the asylum. She begged the nurses, claiming she was Steven Cook's wife,
only to fall on deaf ears.
They all thought it was impossible for a disfigured woman to be Mrs. Cook. It seemed that her mental
illness had taken over her completely.
The doctors and nurses all looked at her with disgust and contempt, and that caused her to be sent to
the intensive care ward, which was reserved to those who had the most serious illnesses. The nurses
threw her onto a bed located at the deepest part of the ward and left.
All the other patients gathered around Deborah, scaring her to no end. Upon seeing their distorted
faces and glazed over eyes, she screamed, "Stop! Don't come near me!"
However, no one listened to her. To the patients, she, who was covered in blood, was the most
interesting subject in the ward at the moment. Some of them raised their hands to touch her face, while
others pulled her hair. One even kicked her injured leg forcefully. She screamed until she felt her voice
was completely gone, and she passed out.
It was the evening when Deborah woke up. Near her, a few well-built nurses were distributing dinner.
Unable to bear the pain from all the wounds on her body, she tried asking for painkillers from the
nurses. They ignored and left after they put down her dinner.
The other patients began grabbing the food, and they even took Deborah's share. The pain in her body
was accompanied by the fact that she had not eaten or drank anything. There was nothing she could
do about it, and she could only bear with it and fall asleep.
In the middle of the night, she heard a trickling sound, followed by a chilly feeling. She shot her eyes
open to find a patient relieving himself in her direction and wetting her blanket. She was so disgusted
that she immediately moved away from her bed. A far more disgusting matter awaited her as soon as
she had left her bed. Another patient was defecating on the ground.
A stinking smell shot into her nostrils, but the horror did not end there. When the patient was done
relieving himself, other patients took up whatever was on the ground and played it with their hands.
One of them smeared it onto Deborah's body, offering her to eat it.
At that very instant, Deborah experienced a fate worse than death. She would rather die than to spend
another day in the ward. To her disappointment, though, it was hard for her to even die!
After sending out letters to threaten Deborah, Tommy and Cecilia waited for her reply. It had been one
week and there was still no news of it. He decided to keep watch around the Cook family home, but he
failed to find any traces of Deborah.
Confused, Tommy asked Loraine about Deborah. According to her, Deborah had gone overseas and
she had not spoken to her for quite some time. Tommy sighed. He wondered why Deborah had chosen
to go overseas before he could blackmail her. How unlucky he was!
Did Deborah run away after reading the letters? The idea was supported by Cecilia after Tommy had
told her about it. However, they were not deterred. If Deborah had really gone into hiding, that only Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
meant that she was feeling guilty. She could not continue hiding for the rest of her life.
The couple began planning on how to deal with Deborah when she came back. Their feelings for each
other blossomed even more during the time they spent together to plot against Deborah due to their
common interests. Tommy realized that he could no longer bear being apart from Cecilia, so he
planned to tell Loraine about her. He would care less even if his mother was against the relationship.
Cecilia's menstruation had not come for sometime. She had always gone to great lengths to avoid
herself from getting pregnant as she was a prostitute. However, she met Tommy, who she thought was
her soulmate. Thus, she no longer used protection. After she had missed her periods a couple of times,
she went for a checkup and was confirmed to be pregnant.
She told Tommy about the news of her getting pregnant, making him elated. He believed Loraine would
finally accept Cecilia for the baby's sake.
Initially, when Loraine found out about Tommy having a relationship with a woman who was older than
him by a decade, she reckoned that the relationship would not last, so she wanted to disapprove.
However, Tommy mentioned that the woman was pregnant already, and he wanted to marry her to start
a family.
Tommy had never excelled in his studies and Loraine had never seen her son to be this invested in a
woman. With Tommy's announcement, Lorraine realized that he really loved Cecilia. She was still
upset, but she no longer objected. She told him that she would reconsider her decision after meeting
the woman who had made her son head over heels.
After she knew that her son was living with Cecilia, Lorraine went to Tommy's place to keep watch,
desiring to know just what kind of a woman Cecilia was. When she finally saw Cecilia who was dressed
handsomely from a distance, Loraine grew uneasy upon seeing her mannerisms. No matter how she
looked, Cecilia did not look like someone her son could spend the rest of her life with. She had to
intervene and make sure her son did not do whatever he wanted.
With that thought in mind, Loraine hid in the corner as she was not prepared to meet her son. With his
hand around Cecilia's waist, Tommy poked and teased her, not knowing that his mother was hiding
right there. When the couple was close enough, Lorraine focused her eyes on Cecilia and was
immediately shocked!
How could it be? Cecilia was actually Rosa? Rosa Skinner? How did Tommy get involved with her?
Goodness! Loraine wondered what she had done to deserve such punishment!
After listening to Joanne's suggestion, Nathan decided to take Rowane back in order to let her take
care of Britney, but before he could do that, he had to let Britney meet and know her more. If she hated
Rowane, then Nathan would dismiss that thought. He would not have someone who Britney hated to
take care of her.
The next day, Nathan got off work a little earlier than usual. He planned to pick up Rowane to go have
dinner at the White Mansion.
During their days spent together, Nathan came to understand more about Rowane. He knew she was a
gentle person and was a little shy. He was worried that he would scare off Rowane if he told her directly
about having dinner at the White Mansion. He then came up with an excuse to bring her to the White
Mansion. If Britney liked Rowane when they met, then naturally she would love to have her around.
Things would not seem too deliberate that way.
As long as Britney liked Rowane, Nathan would immediately suggest her move into the White Mansion.
She would then stay there to take care of and accompany Britney. Judging from Rowane's kind
personality, Nathan believed that she would be willing to take care of Britney. She would even do it very
well.
In order to make his plan come true, he did not drive to the villa, but took a taxi instead.
"Why is Nathan here? Didn't he say he would come get his watch after he came back from his home
country?" Rowane asked herself when she saw Nathan appear at the villa.
She greeted Nathan awkwardly and said, "Nathan, please give me a moment. I'll go get your watch."
Nathan's intention behind his visit was to bring Rowane over to the White Mansion and he paid little
attention to the anxiety on Rowane's face. He scanned her casual wear and said, "Okay! While you're
at it, why don't you change your clothes? Let's go to the shopping mall!"
"Shopping mall?" Rowane was confused.
"Yes. I'm going back to Haverland in a couple of days and I would like to buy my fiancée a nice dress.
This is actually my first time buying something for her to wear, so I'm a little inexperienced here and I'm
scared that I'll buy something unsuitable. Why don't you help me? Your looks and figure are alike to
hers. I think you'd do great trying on the dress."
Rowane was a little upset. Nathan had not come to fetch his watch, but instead wanted her to model for
his fiancée's dress. She nodded, agreed in a low voice, turned and went upstairs.
Inside her bedroom, Rowane reached for something she had hidden under her pillow. She observed
the item as reluctance began showing on her face, before she pressed it against her heart.
