Richest Mogul

Richest Mogul 1022

Vera wondered why Joe was asking this again.

“It was a gift from a friend abroad. You seem to like it a lot. I’ll contact her later to ask where she got it and have her send me one too,” Vera replied, trying to keep her tone calm.

Joe responded briefly, “Okay.”

Vera didn’t expect him to agree so readily. She frowned internally, wondering where she could find an identical ring.

This ring was unique. Molly had mentioned it was the only one in existence.

“Whatever,” she thought. When he asked again, she would just say her friend couldn’t remember where she bought it. He certainly wouldn’t keep insisting on finding a replica of that ring.

Remembering the incident earlier with Skylar, she casually shifted the topic. “A few hours ago, I had dinner with some friends and ran into Skylar on my way out. I accidentally rear–ended her car.”

Joe’s expression immediately turned serious. “Rear–ended?”

He recalled the phone call from Skylar and the subsequent WhatsApp message. Joe wondered if it could be that she was frightened after the accident.

“Yeah, it happened right when we were leaving a parking lot. She may have braked too suddenly, and I bumped into her unexpectedly. It really startled me. Luckily, neither of us was hurt. Otherwise, we might both be in the hospital right now.” Vera looked genuinely shaken.

As she waited for Joe to ask if she was injured, he suddenly turned and walked away without a word. Vera was left standing there, stunned by the abruptness of his departure.

“Why did he just leave? Did he even hear what I said?” she muttered, frowning in displeasure.

With Joe gone, the gala dinner felt even more boring than before. She hadn’t wanted to be there in the first place, and now it seemed pointless.

Feeling down, she finished her drink, grabbed her clutch, and left.

At Galaxy Villa, after Joe returned, he went to the garage and spotted Skylar’s car.

The damage from the rear–end collision was significant.

Joe stepped through the front door and went upstairs. The lights were still on in the room, and he wondered if Skylar was still awake this late.

Usually, she would have been asleep by now. He guessed she must have been shaken up.

Thinking back to that night when she had cried from a nightmare, he realized that after the accident today, she must be scared.

As he opened the door, he noticed that Skylar was already asleep. Her phone was still in her hand, and the blanket barely covered her.

Joe wondered if this was how she cared for herself when he wasn’t home. She should have told him directly about the situation when she texted him. He felt a bit helpless at that thought. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

He tiptoed over to her.

He gently tucked the blanket around her and placed her phone on the nightstand. Finally, he turned off the

light.

Throughout this, Skylar remained in deep slumber.

He sat beside her, observing her with a mixture of frustration and fondness. It baffled him how she could be so ungrateful.

She casually mentioned divorce, yet she seemed to think that marrying him was easy. She should know that ending it would be just as difficult.

Maybe it was the alcohol, but Joe’s head throbbed slightly. He pressed his fingers against his temples.

Suddenly, he rolled how she used to massage his acupuncture points when they first got married. It genuinely relie is headaches.

After they became intimate, they moved in together, and he found that he rarely suffered from insomnia or headaches anymore.

But these past few days, he had been unable to sleep, and today, his head had been bothering him all day.

Just as he was about to shower, intending to come back and hold Skylar while they slept, her phone suddenly buzzed with an incoming call.

It was set to vibrate mode.
