Richest Mogul 1041
Chapter 1041
What Joe meant was that Skylar was privy to everything going on in his life. Naturally, she should be able to listen to what Vera had to say to him.
Skylar was surprised.
Joe’s tone turned warm as he implored, “Come here and sit with me for a bit.”
Skylar wouldn’t turn against him. He was being nice, after all. After a brief moment of thought, Skylar sat
back down.
They looked like a beautiful couple. They gave off similar vibes, as though they were a married couple. Perhaps it was because they’d lived together for a long time.
When Vera thought of that, blood drained from her face. She wasn’t here to watch them show off their love.
Was Joe trying to make her realize the difficulty of her endeavor and force her to give up? Or was he proving her wrong and telling her he no longer liked her? Instead, was Skylar the woman he loved now?
Bile scratched the back of Vera’s throat. It was as though someone was choking her. Jealousy flooded
her.
Just as Vera was about to lose her composure, Joe’s cold words calmed her down.
“Well, what do you want?”
There wasn’t a hint of emotion in his tone.
Vera found this unacceptable. She watched the couple before her. In the past, she’d imagined a woman by Joe’s side. However, it couldn’t be anyone else other than herself.
However, Joe now had a woman with him who wasn’t her! How ironic NôvelDrama.Org (C) content.

Vera gulped and said lowly, “My apologies for coming to see you at this hour. However, I have no ide who else I can turn to.
“In the past few years, I’ve been studying abroad, and someone has been stalking me. He loves sme madly. I thought he would give up after I came home. However, he just called me and said he would seek me out at my home! He insisted he could give up his life for me and asked me to marry him.
“He comes from a wealthy family. I couldn’t gather the courage to tell my parents about this. They’re still in the hospital getting treated for the burn wounds. You’re the only person I thought could help. Could your lend me a hand by finding people to chase him out of Jipsburg?”
O
“Grandpa can help you with this. There was no need to seek me out.” Joe looked unmoved by this information. Vera couldn’t get a read on him.
Skylar couldn’t understand Joe. He could always abandon her in favor of Vera. He looked as though he cared deeply about her. However, Joe was distanced and cold when she came to ask for help.
It was as though Vera was a stranger who didn’t occupy much of his attention and that they were nothing more than an old friend.
This was completely different from how Skylar had envisioned their relationship to be.
Joe turned to Skylar after he was done speaking.
When he saw her with her head hung low, lost in thought, he ruminated on how she would’ve replied to his question if they hadn’t been interrupted by the doorbell
Vera stared at Joe with her mouth open. Was he completely unconcerned for her safety?
When he heard about someone who loved her to the point of madness, he showed no signs of caring. How did he think about her?
She wanted to touch her ring subconsciously. However, Vera remembered that she had put it into her bag before pressing the doorbell.
If she’d had the ring on, Joe probably wouldn’t have shown her such an attitude.
“My Grandpa isn’t pleased with me because of the negative items I bought home at the auction. My family members also blame me for that. If I told him about this, it would only further piss him off. Joe, I’m terrified,” Vera bit out through tears. She bent her head in stark contrast to how she used to hold it high. Joe was probably the only man in the world she’d show her vulnerability to.
If she hadn’t been genuinely terrified, how would Vera allow this side of her to be exposed before Skylar? Skylar was definitely laughing internally about it.
Of course, Vera couldn’t read her mind. Skylar wasn’t laughing, she was thinking about how she really shouldn’t be staying here.
