“Get up for breakfast… well, lunch now,” Skylar said with a soft smile.

Joe obediently got out of bed. “I’ll head downstairs to check if the family sent over some food from Pearlhall Residence.” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

At the hospital, Gloria walked out of the bathroom in her room.

She saw Edgar grinning. She asked, “What’s got you so happy? Care to share?”

“Oh, it’s definitely something to smile about!” Edgar chuckled. “The staff says that Mr. Martin and Mrs. Martin have made up. They just went downstairs to have lunch together, and both of them stayed in all morning resting. They must’ve had a little spat last night but kissed and made up by morning!” He could barely contain his delight.

It was as if her thoughts had summoned the good news.

Just this morning, Gloria had been wondering how the two were getting along. And now, they had reconciled.

Gloria couldn’t help but smile too. “Really? Those two!”

As long as they were back on good terms, that was all that mattered.

“I told you not to worry, Mrs. Martin Senior. Young people fight, but that’s normal. A little argument here and there only strengthens the relationship. Look at them! They must’ve worked things out all night, and Mr. Martin–who’s normally a workaholic–didn’t even leave the house all morning,” Edgar said with a laugh. He couldn’t hide his admiration for how resilient young couples were.

“Ah, feels good to be young.”

Gloria nodded in agreement, her smile widening. “I’m feeling hungry now. Why don’t you ask the doctor what I’m allowed to eat and have the kitchen prepare it for me?”

“Right away!”

He was thrilled as Gloria finally had her appetite back.

After lunch, Joe went off to work.

Meanwhile, Skylar had booked her train and bus tickets to visit her hometown in the countryside the next day. She figured it was time to return for a quick visit and had meant to check in on things there.

She spent the afternoon packing her suitcase, making sure everything she needed was in order.

By the time she was done, it was already 5:00 pm. She had a light dinner and then headed to the auction that Minerva had invited her to.

She didn’t know that not long after she left, Joe returned home.

When Joe returned and didn’t see Skylar, his face immediately darkened.

He walked upstairs with a heavy expression, and when he saw the half–packed suitcase sitting out in the bedroom, his mood only worsened.

Inside the suitcase, clothes were neatly folded, alongside a few personal items. The suitcase was still open, suggesting she hadn’t finished packing yet.

“Skylar, you really think you’ve got this all figured out, don’t you?” he muttered to himself, his voice low and filled with frustration.

Was she really set on divorcing and moving out?

After last night and this afternoon, he thought they’d reached an unspoken understanding, that divorce was no longer on the table.

But it seemed she had made up her mind.

The Veins on his forehead pulsed with anger.

He couldn’t stand to be in the bedroom for another minute. Turning sharply, he stormed out and headed downstairs. He pulled out his phone and dialed her number.

She didn’t pick up.

His frustration boiled over, and in a fit of anger, he kicked the couch.

Right at that time, he saw a familiar ring lying in a corner underneath the couch.
