“Rowan, why didn’t we watch a different movie?” Jenny complained. She wasn’t a fan of comedies, especially ones that didn’t feature any of her favorite attractive actors or actresses.

When Rowan mentioned going to a movie, she thought he meant a romantic drama or a lighthearted love story–not this.

Jenny was a little displeased.

Rowan frowned, “Out of all the options, this one seemed the most interesting. The others were mostly kids‘ movies, and I’m not into that. If you don’t like it, you can just use your phone for a while.”

“I didn’t mean I didn’t like it,” Jenny quickly backtracked, sensing his annoyance.

Fine, it wasn’t unbearable. She could deal with it.

Her gaze drifted toward the front of the theater, where two women were sitting.

The fact that only four people were in the room made it clear this movie wasn’t exactly popular.

Whatever.

Rowan had been in a strange mood these past few days, so it was better not to push him too much. Jenny absentmindedly munched on her popcorn, though she found it tasteless. This theater didn’t even make good snacks, and the movie wasn’t her kind of thing either.

Romantic movies were much better for couples. She didn’t understand why Rowan had picked a comedy. In romantic films, couples always held hands, cuddled, or shared sweet kisses as the plot unfolded.

Jenny felt like they were missing an opportunity to connect.

Lately, it didn’t even feel like they were a real couple. They hardly kissed anymore.

She found herself more and more distracted, barely paying attention to the film.

Up ahead, the two women were laughing heartily at a scene.

Rowan, who had been watching the movie, suddenly started staring at one of the women instead of the

screen.

At first, Jenny didn’t notice, but when she did, her jealousy flared. “Rowan, your girlfriend is sitting right here, you know! Why are you staring at them? Do you think I’m not pretty enough for you anymore? If you don’t like me, just say it!”

S

Rowan’s eyes shifted back to her, his brow furrowed. He hadn’t been ogling the women, just distracted by how much one of them reminded him of Minerva.

He had never gone to the movies with Minerva, and that thought made him wonder if she enjoyed them as much as these two seemed to.

“What are you talking about?” he said, irritation creeping into his voice. “I wasn’t staring because I don’t Nike you. They just

Ooked familiar.”

“Familiar?” Jenny scoffed, her lips curling into a bitter smile. “Do you think I’m gonna believe you? You’ve always had a thing for hanging around with other women, haven’t you? You probably wish you could be flirting with them right now instead of sitting here with me.” Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.

Jenny’s thoughts were more cutting than her sarcastic words. She didn’t believe his whole “sex after marriage” story.

In her eyes, he was just keeping his options open, afraid that sleeping with her would mean he’d have to stop messing around with other women–especially Minerva.

Did he really think she hadn’t figured that out?

Rowan clenched his jaw, frustration bubbling up. He used to have the patience to humor Jenny when she acted like this, but lately, he couldn’t find the energy to deal with it anymore.

“Stop overthinking it and watch the movie,” he said firmly.

Jenny’s hands balled into fists, her eyes welling with tears. “This movie is boring! What’s so great about it?”

She could feel Rowan’s disinterest in’her, and it stung.

She had barely said a few things, and he was already upset. Shouldn’t he at least try to reassure her? Explain why he was looking at those women? Make her feel secure?

Rowan exhaled deeply. He found this movie genuinely funny, but with Jenny constantly talking, he couldn’t enjoy it. He envied the two women in front of them, laughing freely. If Jenny would just stop complaining, maybe they could enjoy the film together too.

“I don’t get what those two women are laughing at. This movie’s a scam for old folks,” Jenny muttered bitterly.

That was the last straw. Rowan turned to her, his voice low and strained. “Can you please stop talking?” Jenny glared at him, her anger bubbling over. “Fine! I won’t say another word!”

If he didn’t want to hear her talk, then she’d give him what he wanted.

She could stay silent forever if that’s what he preferred.

Maybe then his precious ears would finally get some peace.

Let him apologize and try to win her over later. She wouldn’t forgive him this time.
