Richest Mogul 1057
Chapter 1057
Joe took the burrito from Skylar and immediately took a bite. The burrito had crispy fried bits inside, giving it a delightful texture. It was surprisingly delicious.
He was actually quite hungry.
A wave of contentment washed over him as he glanced at Skylar, who was busy eating with her head down. It was remarkable how something as simple as sharing a street food meal could bring a sense of tranquility and comfort.
“This is pretty good,” he remarked.
Skylar looked up and smiled at him. “When I was in high school in Liberty County, I used to have these burritos from a stand outside the school. They tasted similar to this one.”
“You went to high school here?” Joe glanced around at Liberty County.
There weren’t any tall buildings, and there weren’t many people around. But the streets were clean and well–kept
“Yeah, right here,” she said, familiar with every inch of this place. She hadn’t had much chance to come back since starting college.
Joe suddenly suggested, “After we return from the countryside, take me to see your school.”
Skylar nodded enthusiastically. “We can buy tickets for the evening train for our return trip. I’ll show you
around.”
“Sounds good.”
They boarded the bus and sat for another several dozen minutes. To Skylar’s surprise, Joe didn’t complain about anything during the trip.
It seemed he really was just curious about the countryside and eager to explore.
In reality, there weren’t many young people in the countryside anymore. Most had moved away, so it was mostly older folks around now.
When they arrived, Alma Vega, a neighbor, squinted at Skylar for a moment before recognizing her after Skylar called out, “Mrs. Munoz Senior.”
“Oh, Skye! I haven’t seen you in two years. You’ve become even more beautiful. Is this your boyfriend?”
Skylar smiled and confirmed it was true. Joe followed suit, addressing Alma warmly as “Mrs. Munoz
Senior.”
Alma beamed and asked, “Are your mom and brothers hot back yet?”
Skylar laughed lightly and said, “They’ve been busy lately. They’ll come back to visit soon.”
“Good, good. The village is getting quieter with fewer people around. You should visit more often. By the way, Viola returned a few days ago but only stayed for one night.
“I didn’t get a chance to talk to her. Is she traveling with you guys to Jipsburg?” Alma was getting older and a bit hard of hearing, so she spoke loudly.
Skylar’s expression shifted at the mention of Viola. “Mrs. Munoz Senior, are you sure Grandma Viola came back?”
“Of course, Syke! She’s lived in our village for over 20 years. I wouldn’t mistake her for anyone else.
Although, she didn’t seem very well. She was coughing quite a bit,” Alma replied.

Skylar felt a wave of concern for Viola’s condition. After exchanging a glance with Joe, she spoke briefly with Almá before leading him to the home where she had grown up.
The house in the countryside was simple–a two–story home. Since it had been a while since anyone had lived there, the yard was filled with dust and overgrown grass.
Joe was proactive. He didn’t mind the mess in the yard or the house, and he immediately started tidying up with Skylar.
After about an hour of work, the bedroom was livable again.
Skylar took care of the yard, cleaning it up somewhat, although it wasn’t completely spotless. They could finish cleaning it gradually over the next few days.
It was fine as long as they could stay there tonight. On their way back, they had picked up some groceries, and the kitchen was equipped with the necessary cooking utensils. This content provided by N(o)velDrama].[Org.
They had just bought cooking oil, salt, soy sauce, and vinegar. It was simple enough to whip up a couple of dishes.
After a long day of traveling and tidying up, Skylar and Joe felt slightly exhausted.
Once Skylar finished cooking, they moved the table outside and enjoyed their meal in the yard. The countryside was particularly quiet, and the two of them didn’t say much while they ate.
Yet there was a shared warmth in their smiles. As they cleaned earlier, they had worked seamlessly together, almost like a married couple living together for years.
The thought made Skylar chuckle softly, prompting Joe to glance her way.
