Under the dim light, the screen on Skylar’s phone lit up with Aiken’s name.
That was an international call. She answered the call. Mr. Parkinson.”
Aiken’s voice was urgent. “Sorry to bother you. Are you available right now? Could you come over here?”
“I’m currently in Fachington, not in Jipsburg. I can’t make it over there. Is there something wrong?” Skylar quickly turned on the light. She hadn’t been feeling sleepy to begin with, and now she felt even more
awake.
Aiken’s urgency was likely due to Simona. Recently, Simona’s mood had already become stable. She had just started at a new school and seemed to be adjusting well with her new classmates.

Caleb had mentioned that the situation hadn’t affected her much.
Aiken continued, “We’re also in Fachington. Simona mentioned a few days ago that you were here. We just arrived a couple of days ago. We came to relax, following the psychologist’s advice. But today, while out, we witnessed a group of boys bullying a girl.
“Simona has been upset since we returned to the hotel and had a nightmare after falling asleep. She woke up terrified and wouldn’t let me near her. I called a psychologist, but she’s resistant.
“I can only think of contacting you right now. I’m really sorry to disturb you and interrupt your honeymoon
with Mr. Martin.”
“He happens to be out today. Where are you staying? I’ll take a cab to come find you.” Skylar had already gotten out of bed and was grabbing her clothes.
“Send me the address, and I’ll have someone pick you up. It’s not safe out here at night, and I don’t want you coming alone,” Aiken replied after a brief pause.
Skylar considered this. The safety was not as good here as in Jipsburg, and she was unfamiliar with the
area.
After waiting over 20 minutes, Aiken’s driver arrived to pick her up. The ride was quick, and they soon
arrived at a villa.
Aiken was waiting at the door. When he saw her get out of the car, his expression briefly showed surprise but was quickly replaced by concern. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
“Sorry to trouble you again,” he said.
Skylar’s face was serious. “No need to be so polite. To me, Simona is like a sister. Let’s go see her right away.”
Throughout the drive, she worried about Simona. She would message Aiken to check if Simona’s mood had improved over the past few minutes.
Unfortunately, Simona remained distressed. She isolated herself in her room and refused to let Aiken come near her.
Even with the psychologist’s treatment and the consequences faced by the boys involved, some things just couldn’t be undone. The emotional wounds remained deeply embedded in Simona’s heart.
She had been trying to act as if everything was fine, probably to prevent those around her from worrying. She was attempting to heal on her own.
However, when a nearly identical scene unfolded before her eyes, it reopened the still–healing wound in
her heart. She found it unbearable
Outside the door, Skylar gently knocked three times and softly said, “Simona, it’s Skylar. May I come in and see how you’re doing?”
Alken watched Skylar closely, his gaze fixed and unwavering. Her presence comforted Simona and provided solace to him as if the previous surge of anger and frustration had been quelled.
As Skylar was in Fachington for a trip, Joe wasn’t by her side. She recalled receiving news that Vera was also in Fachington and wondered if Joe had neglected Skylar because of Vera’s presence.
His expression grew troubled.
From inside the room, Simona’s hoarse voice came through. “Skylar?”
“It’s me, Simona. May I come in?” Skylar asked calmly.
Simona responded, “Yes.”
Skylar sighed with relief. She glanced at Aiken and reassured him with a gesture that everything was fine.
As she opened the door and stepped inside, a new WhatsApp message from Joe popped up on her phone. Glancing at it, she saw it was from Joe but decided she couldn’t respond at the moment.
She quickly typed back, “I’m busy right now.”
Then, she put her phone away in her bag.
Simona, Skylar called gently as she entered the room.
