Chapter 3136
Chapter 3136
What stood before them was a bondslave that had gone crazy from hunger.
It craved blood so much that it would even drink the blood of animals.
The bondslave was about to sink its teeth into a deer when it heard Hepburn's scream.
It then stopped what it was doing, turned around, and glared at her with bloodshot eyes. Vampires relied on their bloodlines to determine their status.
Under normal circumstances, a vampire's bloodline would also reflect its power.
Those with a pure bloodline were often much more powerful than those without.
Bondslaves were vampires infected with a blood virus, so they were classified as being the weakest among vampires.
Their intelligence levels were nowhere near that of an ordinary human, so they behaved like wild animals and hunted for blood to survive. After making eye contact with Hepburn for about two seconds, the bondslave let out a strange scream and charged at her.
Realizing that it was a great opportunity for him to show Hepburn his skills, Brenton decided to get out of the car and kill the bondslave.
However, Colin was faster and pointed his gun at the bondslave.
Bang!
A loud bang echoed throughout the area as he fired a mithril bullet in between the bondslave's eyes. Smoke came out of the gaping hole in the bondslave's forehead as it collapsed to the ground. Furious at Colin for stealing his opportunity to showcase his skills, Brenton shot Colin a fierce glare.
Of course, Colin couldn't care less about his feelings and simply responded with a disdainful glance.
Since Brenton viewed Nathan as an enemy, he nearly lost his temper after being disrespected by Nathan's subordinate.
"This is nothing but a minor
inconvenience. Let's keep going. We
don't want to waste too much time here," Nathan said calmly, prompting the convoy to continue moving forward.
About thirty minutes later, they finally arrived at the outskirts of Musbane's ruins.
The city was already in ruins by the time they arrived.
There were no people nor animals in sight, save for a few rats scurrying about in the background.
Hepburn gave the command, "We are now entering a highly dangerous area, so be on your guard as we continue our advance."
The group was greeted by increasingly gruesome sights as the convoy slowly pushed forward into the ruins.
The entire city reeked of blood and decay as there were bodies everywhere.
Nathan and the others all had solemn looks on their faces as they made their way through the city.
After driving around for a while, they arrived at what looked like a wide plaza.
The area surrounding the plaza was filled with bodies, most of which were stacked on top of each other.
"Humans usually turn into bondslaves after being infected by the blood virus. Why aren't all these dead bodies transformed into bondslaves?" Brenton asked in confusion.
"According to the latest information
from the Curia, those who are physically weaker have more
difficulty resisting the virus, which makes them more likely to be
infected and turned intoProperty of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
However, those who are physically strong like soldiers can resist the infection and avoid being turned into bondslaves," Hepburn explained.
"Looks like the ones who died here are the strong ones, then..." Brenton said.
Nathan thought of something after hearing that.
Suddenly, a strong wind blew through the area as the dark clouds gathered in the sky.
The howling of the wind sounded like the anguished cries of the dead, and it looked as though a thunderstorm was about to come.
A large group of crows gathered atop a tree in the distance.
The cawing of the crows combined with the howling of the wind reminded Nathan of what Hanson told him in his dream two days ago.
"Stop the car. This is where Hanson
and the others were slain in battle. If I'm not mistaken, the bodies on the
ground are our soldiers," he said with a gloomy look on his face.
