Chapter 86
Jessica skeptically took the box from him and pulled the ribbons loose. An evening gown designed by a famous designer from Pantelos, Ferropene. As for how much it cost, it was safe to say that Jessica would not be able to afford it with her financial situation at that time. "Why are you giving me this?"
"This is an exquisite gown, although you may not know its value due to your limited exposure to such things. But that doesn't matter. It will probably fit you. Wear it tomorrow night and accompany me to the company's Elites' Function."
Jessica's slender fingers skimmed across the fabric of the gown as a small smirk appeared on her lips.
"Trevor really does underestimate me. Why won't I be able to appreciate the value of this gown? Even though I can't afford clothes like this now, there was once a time when gowns like these were among the plainest items in my wardrobe. My life wouldn't have gotten this bad if I had not provoked him," she mused in her heart.
"Unlike today, all of the company's elites will be on the island tomorrow. They are the backbone of the company, so I have to treat it as a priority." Before
Jessica could ask, Trevor had already started to explain in a soft voice.
"You want me to accompany you to the Elites' Function, Mr. Gulliford? Don't you have a secretary at the headquarters? I've only been on the job for a few days, so this might not be the best arrangement." Jessica was unwillingto join a random function. She would rather go home and spend time with her children instead of standing next to Trevor.
"Don't worry. I get to call the shots. Go and try the gown on. We can still make some adjustments if it doesn't fit." Trevor pointed to the bathroom nearby and gently urged her.
Although she was a little hesitant, Jessica eventually stood up.
Since she was unable to refuse Trevor, she decided that she would go and join the Elites' Function to rub elbows with the influential people there. The connections would be a good advantage if she were to venture into business in the future.
Not long after, Jessica stepped out of the bathroom in the figure-hugging evening gown.
The pink gown against her fair skin brought out her femininity, even though she had lost some sophistication when compared to before.
The loss of her sophistication was inevitable, especially when it has been some time since she had fallen down the pedestal of being the most popular socialite.
However, Trevor was still stunned by the sight of her.
The distinguished air Jessica carried with her remained even though she had changed as a person.
Jessica never mellowed herself to gain his favor like how other women did.
She always stood tall and confident, with a perfect composure that attracted people's gaze toward her.
"This is the dignity of a socialite," Trevor thought. "Of course she is my woman; other superficial women can't compare to her!"
"How beautiful." Trevor praised sincerely and clapped.
"Thank you." Jessica smiled a little and quickly left to take off the gown.
"This dress is quite short. If he gets aroused, I won't be able to get away!" she thought.
Trevor looked away, not daring to fix his gaze upon her silhouette that disappeared into the bathroom.
"I worry that I may be spellbound if I look any longer. She is too attractive;
I fear I won't be able to control myself. Three years ago, she was the only woman able to arouse me. Now it's still the same." Trevor thought. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
After a few moments, Jessica
entered the room. Instead of sitting
on the couch, she picked up the clothes and got ready to leave.
"Don't go yet. I still have some things to discuss." Trevor panicked when he saw that she was about to leave. He did not want to part with her.
Trevor felt that he had not enjoyed enough of her presence. Even if all they did was exist in the same room, he was happy to watch her as she spoke and read.
"Mr. Gulliford, what else do you need?" Jessica's tone was getting impatient as it was nearing eleven o'clock.
