ZOE LOVES the game, pretending. But right now, she can’t guarantee herself if she wants to act like she and Amanda were okay. Because literally, they’re not. It irritates her how Amanda moves, talks, and even smiles—it seems mendacious. Fake. If only she didn’t give respect, she might have knocked her cousin down and kicked Amanda’s ass out of the house. Amanda must be thankful that she’s trying to control her temper. Zoe may loathe her cousin, but not the little angel beside her. Amanda’s son had nothing to do with her mother’s mess. The kid is innocent. His mother is not. “So, where did you stay when you were cast out of here?” Zoe emphasized the words’ cast out.’ Amanda then looked up and put down the spoon she was holding, and she smiled at her. ‘Bitch.’ “I was in Paris.” Zoe was fed up with her daughter first before turning to her sister. “So, you were enlightened not to end the life of your innocent child, am I right?” “Zoe!” Iris and Millie uttered in unison. She shrugged her shoulders. “What? I’m just asking her questions. You know, we’ve been apart since, I don’t know, and I don’t care when.” “You can do it later, sweetie. Let’s finish our food first. Let’s just give peace when we’re having our meal,” Millie said. Zoe nodded and continued to feed her daughter. Hela Selene is already eight months old. In just a few months, the little girl will turn into one. Indeed, time flies so fast. When she finished feeding her daughter, she bid goodbye and left the dining area. She carried her child and went to the living room. Zoe stopped and looked behind him because her daughter seemed to be talking to someone. And it turned out that it was her cousin’s son who was following them. “Do you need anything, young boy?” she asked gently.
The child smiled at her. She met his cute almond eyes. “Can I play with her, auntie?” the young boy asked. Zoe gave the kid a genuine smile. She always reminds herself that the kid has nothing to do with her issue with Amanda. Amanda was her cousin who grew up together with her not until she decided to stop her studies. Amanda got pregnant and tried to abort the child. Her mother gave everything to her, but she only dared to ruin an innocent life. Then suddenly, she vanished without even saying thank you to her mother or goodbye. “Sure. Come,” she said and took the child’s left hand as they continued to walk to the living room. She let go of the young boy’s hand when they got there. And laid her daughter on the carpet, and the young boy sat beside his cousin. “Wait, you don’t have toys to play with,” said Zoe. So, she told the maid to get Hela’s toys upstairs. While waiting, she asked some questions to the kid. “How old are you, kiddo?” “I’m two years old, auntie,” the young boy replied but failed to pronounce the letter R fluently. “Does your mommy give all your needs? Does she always take care of you?” The young boy didn’t reply and just bowed his head. “Hey, is there anything wrong, baby?” The child shook his head. “No… Mommy is not always around. Uncle says, she’s with other men… doing this,” using his tiny palm, the boy spanked his left palm to his right. Zoe’s eyes widened. She understands what the kid wants to tell. And who the fuck is this uncle he’s pertaining to? And why does he need to give that demonstration about an adult thing to an innocent two-year-old boy?” “Do you know what it is, auntie?” “No! And why do they have to tell you that?!” the tone of her voice rose. “What’s happening here? Are you scolding my son?” Amanda said, and theirs a gentleness in her voice. Zoe almost laughs because of the discreet voice of Amanda.
‘What a pretender bitch.’ “I’m just asking him if his mother always takes care of him. Do you know what he just said? Zoe raised her left brow, “…he said no because her mother is with another man.” Amanda’s gaze deepened on her, and she clenched her fist. It seems the demon wants to come out, huh? She thought. ‘Why not show her true color?’ Zoe was expecting something that Amanda might do, but she failed. She didn’t lure out what she needed. She just laughed. “Is that all you want to know? You don’t have to care about it. Excuse me, Aunt Millie is asking for my presence,” said Amanda and left the living area. Zoe grinned and turned her attention back to the children. The maid approached her and handed over the box of toys. Zoe then gave it to the kids. She stood up and sat on the one-seater sofa while still watching the children. “Elena… please get my phone in the kitchen. I think I left it there.” “Alright, Ma’am,” replied Elena—one of their maids. She’s wondering if Helios has missed calls. She never looked at her phone when her daughter woke up. She forgot about it. Zoe silently watches over her daughter and nephew. Unlike her mother, she knew that her nephew was a smart and kind kid. The young boy knew how to give respect. She’s wondering who that uncle he’s pertaining to. Is it the man who impregnated her cousin? “Ma’am, here’s your phone.” “Thank you, Elena,” said Zoe. When she opened her phone, there were miscalls from Helios. Her hunch was right. The man will definitely call her. Maybe the man was already wondering why she didn’t pick her phone up, so he dialed Helios’s number. And it only took three rings when he picked it up. “What are you up to? Why are you not answering my calls?” “I’m taking care of Hela, and I suddenly forgot about my phone. You knew I’d been watching the biggest snake in the house. You know,… just taking some safety measures,” she replied.
On the other side, Amanda was hiding behind the wall, eavesdropping. Amanda clenched her fist when she figured out who’s that biggest snake. “I don’t know. Won’t you visit your son—alright—Yes, I know—Fine. Bye.” Amanda immediately turned around and went straight to the guestroom. She locked the door and pulled the cell phone out of her pocket. She dialed someone’s number. (“What?” said the voice on the other line.) “Helios doesn’t believe that he was the father of my child.” (“What? Why not? Isn’t he the father of your child?”) A cat seems to get Amanda’s tongue. She knew that Helios was not the father of her son. “What? Am I still talking to Amanda?” asked the voice sarcastically. “I will try… I’ll do my best to make him believe me. the important thing is, Aunt has accepted my s —” (“I don’t care if your aunt accepted your son or not. All I want is for you to make a way to destroy Helios and Zoe’s bond. So that I would know if that bitch was Helios’s weakness. Do you understand?” said the voice with his angry tone.) “It’s not that easy—” 9 “Goddamn, it!” shouted the voice that made her shiver. “Will you do what I tell you to do, or will I bury your corpse ten feet below the ground?”) A tear fell from her eye. She can’t do it anymore. She’s already tired of being enslaved by the man. “What?! Damn—” she dropped the call. She really can’t do it anymore. She threw her body on the bed and started to cry. By dropping the call, she knew what will be the man’s reaction. And when that man sees them, it will be their end. And to save their lives, she will no longer leave this place. Even if her cousin rejects and loathes her, they’re staying. Even if she will be slapped and knocked down… it’s way better than being killed by a devil. It is for the better if she shows her family that she can change—that she’s just a victim of the cruel world. That she could be an excellent mother to her son. She will spend more time with him from
now on. She would just stay at her aunt’s side because she felt that they were safe there. She knew that there was still kindness left in her sister—she knew that Zoe would be able to forgive her one day. … “DUDE! BELIEVE me. Everything she says is true. Helios just ignored his friend, Ali. He still couldn’t believe that Ali’s informant was that woman. “Dude, she’s asking help from me, from Grant… from us. Also, all the information that corroborates the evidence against that man matches,” Ali wiped his face using his palms, “dude, she’s the only one who can tell and prove the truth about it. and she’s approaching us to save her.” “It doesn’t change the fact that they planned to kill me.” “Dude, think about it… that woman is a big help to catch the man you have been looking for a long time. I don’t know his reason or reasons, why... why he needs to kill you when in fact, he has the same position as us. Like what the F? Does he like Zoe too?” Helios didn’t answer. He just stood up and walked out of his office. Ali tweaked his own hair out of frustration. He is also confused by the happenings. There seems to be no concrete reason for it. But we knew that only Helios could solve everything. And why does Helios have to be secretive? It looks like he has some trust issues. ‘Damn! We are allies!’ Shouted the corner of Ali’s brain. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
