Don't Get Mad
Don't Get Mad
“DON'T start, Helios. I’m pregnant,” Zoe uttered immediately, making Helios press his lips together. He was just teasing her and taking chances. “Since you’re here, help me tell my mother about my pregnancy,” she continued. Helios’s forehead creased. “Why you didn’t tell her? Why do you need—” “Are you dumb?” she arched her brow and pierced her eyes into Helios’s. “Fine, I’m a coward. But if you don’t want to, then DON’T,” she emphasizes the word: don’t. Helios slightly shook his head and let out a soft chuckle. “Don’t worry,” he reached for Zoe’s left hand, “let’s face her together. Let’s go?” Zoe bit her lower lip. She finds him more handsome when he’s showing care. She nodded. “Wait here, and I open the door—” “No need, Helios,” she cut off the hum of Helios’s words. Helios nodded and let go of her hand. Zoe could still feel the morning sickness, but she was trying to fight it. Also, she has cravings, but they are not that bold. Helios wore his sunglasses soon as he stepped out of his car and turned to the other side to help Zoe. Zoe smiled at him when their eyes met. “Thank you,” she said. Cindy, who’s behind the glass wall, can see clearly what’s going on between Helios and Zoe. She felt delighted for her friend. Despite Zoe’s stupidity, now, it seems like she knew more. Cindy wished them a great relationship, but she knew that life isn’t perfect. The two were facing a great struggle—a huge wave and were a little clueless about how to dive to a safer place. Zoe caught Cindy’s eyes, and the latter winked at her, making Zoe frown. “Where’s your mom?” Helios suddenly asked. Zoe turned around and looked at him. “She’s upstairs with Aunt Millie. Uhm… I’m not sure, though.” Helios arched his brow. Zoe smiled. “Kidding. Let’s go before they leave for work,” she said and grabbed Helios by the hand as she pulled him toward their apartment.
Perfect timing… the two old ladies were climbing down the stairs when they saw Helios and Zoe. Iris, Zoe’s mom, was surprised when she saw Helios. Helios smiled. “Good day, Ma’am.” Iris scoffed so did Millie. “He’s your boyfriend, Zoe?” “Yes, Aunt,” Zoe replied without hesitation. Millie’s mouth formed an ‘O’ as surprise filled her eyes. “OMG, for real?!” Zoe let out a soft chuckle upon seeing her Aunt Millie’s reaction. “Mom… can we talk?” Iris’s brows furrowed. “Now? Can’t it wait until my out, honey?” Zoe shook her head. “This is urgent and….” “Okay, then. Go, Iris. It seems like it’s really important,” Millie said. “But we’re getting late if—” “Oh, no pressure. Besides, the owner is Lincoln, too, right? Your cousin, if I’m not mistaken.” Zoe frowned. Her Aunt reacted as if she didn’t know anything earlier. And now… she even knows more than Helios’s name. Millie smiled awkwardly. “Well, Cindy told me,” she replied as if she knew what’s Zoe thought. Zoe sighed and shook her head. “Yes. Grant is Helios’s cousin. Helios…” she looked at Helios, “she’s my Aunt Millie. Mom’s best friend,” she continued. Millie smiled brightly. “It was nice finally meeting you, dear,” she said. Helios smiled and nodded. “It was nice meeting you too….” “Just call me Aunt,” Millie said. Helios smiled and nodded, making Millie go hysterical. “Jesus! You’re so handsome! And… bulky… my niece is soooo lucky!” Millie uttered. “Anyway, you go talk. I’ll just check the café, dears,” she added and dashed down. Zoe shook her head in disbelief. “I’m sorry about my aunt’s behavior.” Helios smiled. “No worries about that. I like her,” he replied. “Okay…” Iris called their attention. “Mom.” “Let’s get back inside,” Iris said as she climbed up, and the two followed.
Soon as they sat on the couch, Helios reached for Zoe’s left hand. “What do we need to talk about?” Zoe pressed her lips and sighed again. “Mom… please don’t get mad if I tell you that…” she paused. Iris frowned. “What is it, honey?” Zoe was about to open her mouth to respond when Helios spoke. “She’s pregnant.” Iris’s eyes widened, and her heart got irregular beating. She turns deaf for a moment. “W-What?” “Mom… I’m pregnant.” “And I am the father,” Helios set the confirmation. This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
