Finding Ways
Finding Ways
AFTER dinner, Helios wanted to talk to Zoe, but Grant stopped him. They excused themselves and talked privately. “I let you see her even if she didn’t ask for it. Now, do your part. You have already seen her and even heard her voice. Do your part, Helios. Go home.” Helios clenched his fist as he met Grant’s gaze. “Let me talk to her. Even just a few seconds—” “Eyes are on you, Helios. And you’re aware of that. Good thing you have your own reapers to back you up.” “They’re just my bodyguards, idiot,” Helios replied. Grant scoffed. “Whatever. Now, go home. Call Chloe and act according to the plan. If you do not cooperate, I’m sorry, but I can’t help you,” he said, and after that, he turned his back away from Helios and went back to their table. At this moment, Zoe and Cindy were confused because they didn’t see Helios. “Where’s Helios?” Cindy asked. “He has work to do,” Grant replied, and he looked at Zoe, “can we talk privately, Zoe?” he asked. Zoe arched her brow as she looked at Cindy. “Let’s talk when we get home,” she said. Cindy frowned. “Why don’t you just discuss it in front of me?” she asked. Grant let out a soft chuckle. “It’s confidential. Well, you can be asked about it by Zoe after we talk. If… she wants to share it,” he said. Cindy grimaced and rolled her eyes. “Yeah, whatever.” “Shall we?” Grant asked. Zoe nodded, and Cindy followed. After a few minutes of sitting inside Grant’s car, they arrived home. Cindy bid her goodbye as she climbed into her apartment while Zoe led Grant inside the Café. She opened the lights on the side. “Why are we here?” Grant asked. Zoe’s forehead knitted. “We won’t talk too long. I just want to ask you something,” she said. Grant pulled a chair and gazed at her. “What is it?”
“Why did you bring Helios?” Grant was expecting that question. “My apology for that. But I just want to grant my cousin’s request. You see, he found out about your destination, and it was my fault not to tell him the truth immediately.” “D-Does he knows that I am—” “Pregnant?” Zoe bit her lower lip and nodded. “Yes, he knew. He was there when Cindy called me. He was the one who put the call into loudspeaker mode.” Zoe pinched the bridge of her nose and took a deep breath as she sighed to calm her heart. It beats so fast that she can overhear its beat. “W-What did he tell—” “Nothing.” Zoe’s shoulders fell. She was not expecting it. Grant let out a soft chuckle. “Just kidding. Of course, he was so eager to see you. And worst, he even planned to get you, but I stopped him.” Zoe frowned. Grant continued. “You are aware that Helios will get engaged to his childhood friend, Chloe.” Zoe nodded. A familiar pain throbbed in her heart. “Helios doesn’t want to get engaged, but his father insists on it, and if he does not oblige, the old man will do anything to make Helios do it. As we planned—now, I am telling you our plans so that you’ll get aware. With it, you can understand Helios even more.” Zoe replied with a faint ‘mm.’ “The engagement will continue as my uncle has planned.” Zoe frowned. “Helios needs to do it. Why? So that his father will turn over the title—you know what I mean,” Grant said, and Zoe nodded. “That’s just an engagement, Zoe, not a marriage, so you don’t have to worry,” he said.
Zoe let out a soft chuckle. “Why would I get worried?” Grant arched his brow as he gazed at her. “Are you serious? You seem unbothered,” he asked. “I understand, Helios… and the plan,” she replied. At this moment, Grant sighed in relief. “Thank goodness. Back to the topic. After everything has been settled on Helios’s side, I swear, he will get back to you, and with that, I hope you’re ready.” Zoe nodded. “I am.” Grant clapped his hands. “Thank God. I thought you would ignore it.” “It’s just that, why it has to be you… who will explain all of this? Why can’t he do it?” Grant sighed, “He can’t. He was under surveillance—” “But why did you bring him to the restaurant?” Grant shrugged his shoulder. “Well…” he stood up, “we find ways,” he added.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
