Chapter 81 I Know How Great She Is
The Byran Group.
As soon as Iverson Byran arrived at the office, his secretary Linda knocked on the door and came in. “Mr. Byran, a lawyer is looking for you in the lobby.”
A lawyer?
Jamie Tarry thought about it, “Is the last name Dolley?”
Linda nodded. “He said his firm wants to corporate with us.”
Jamie immediately said, “The Byran Group has its own legal department and doesn’t need to cooperate with the outside firm. I can’t believe they said they wanted to cooperate with us. They probably knew that they can’t meet Mr. Byran without making an appointment. Tell him Mr. Byran doesn’t have time to talk to him.”
“It’s fine,” Iverson said calmly. “Since he’s already here, let’s hear what he has to say to me.”
Jamie was shocked.
Linda backed off emotionlessly. “I’ll go get him.”
“Mr. Byran, why do you want to see him?”
“After all, he helped a lot in the divorce case. It’s appropriate to thank him in person.”
Iverson’s eyes were as calm as still water, but his calmness made people panic.
Jamie couldn’t help but shiver.
Was he trying to express his appreciation? That did not seem to be the case.
Linda soon brought Patrick Dolley in. Just like the last time they met, he was dressed in a suit and leather shoes with briefcases in his hands. He looked righteous, just like an elite lawyer.
“Mr. Byran.”
“Have a seat.” Iverson nodded slightly as a greeting.
Linda poured tea and left with Jamie.
Outside the door, the secretary Tina had been waiting for a long time with a cup of coffee in her hand. When she saw the door close, she hurriedly pulled Jamie and Linda aside and asked, “What’s going on? Mr. Byran agreed to see someone without an appointment?”
Jamie said, “Of course you would be shocked. That person is Miss Jewell’s lawyer.”
“Miss Jewell’s lawyer? The one who filed a divorce lawsuit? What’s he doing here with Mr. Byran?”
Linda said, “Expanding his business.”
“Our company has its own legal department and law firms that we do business with. What business can he expand here?”
“Stop gossiping.” Linda gave Tina a look. “Or you can go in and ask yourself.”
Tina was at a loss for words.
“I’m going to prepare the meeting materials.”
Linda left with a cold look on her face. All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
Tina pursed her lips and complained to Jamie. “I was just asking casually. She s been pulling a long face all day long. I don t believe she’s not curious at all. There must be something wrong with this Mr. Dolley who came uninvited.”
“What’s wrong about it?”
“Our boss announced that he was going to pursue Miss Jewell in front of everyone. Isn’t Mr. Dolley going to suck up to Mr. Byran? But Miss Jewell hasn’t even agreed to be with Mr. Byran yet, and he’s already trying to connect with Mr. Byran. He’s ridiculous”
Jamie glanced at Tina, “Who told you that Miss Jewell wasn’t with Mr. Byran?”
Tina was stunned.
Before she could come back to his senses, Jamie had already left.
At the elevator, Linda pressed the button and was waiting for an elevator.
Jamie followed behind her.
Linda said, “Mr. Dolley doesn’t look like he’s here for business.”
Jamie replied with a question, “Didn’t you say not to gossip?”
At this time, the elevator door slowly opened.
Linda said, “Since Miss Jewell is already with our boss, then anything about them is related to my work.”
After that, she walked into the elevator with a straight face.
Jamie was surprised by her words and said, “You just said that you wouldn’t gossip. But you surely hear everything.” He followed her into the elevator.
In the office.
Iverson’s slender hands were loosely crossed over his legs as he looked at Patrick Dolley, who was sitting on the opposite side. “I heard that Mr. Dolley came to see me to talk about working together?”
“The Byran Group’s legal department is mature and perfect. I’m afraid it’s not my turn to take a share.”
“In that case, what are you doing here?”
“Mr. Byran, you’re a smart man. You should know why I’m here.”
Patrick’s words were very aggressive, but he didn’t say his ideas directly. Instead, he beat around the bush.
Iverson withdrew his gaze and said succinctly, “I don’t know.”
Patrick felt like he was speechless.
After a two-second pause, he finally couldn’t hold it in anymore. “Everyone knows the Byran Family has the highest status in the city. Whether it’s in terms of career or marriage, there will always be the best choice for Mr. Byran to choose from, so it’s natural that the Byran Family looks down on my law firm. Similarly, it’s impossible for Mr. Byran to like a woman who has divorced without any family background.”
The air suddenly froze.
After a long pause, Iverson looked up and down at Patrick and said faintly, “Mr. Dolley, I don’t like your comparison just now.”
“Isn’t that the case?”
“The Byran Group does look down on your law firm. This is related to the company’s operation and legal decision made by the management team, but the matter between Amanda Jewell and me is not the same. Besides, what does it have to do with you?”
“Of course, it has something to do with me. We went to the same school. I can’t just watch her living miserably again.”
“Went to the same school? Do you think I don’t know what you mean as a man?”
Clenching his fists, Patrick replied, “I admit that I like her.”
“I can tell.”
No matter what Patrick said, Iverson remained calm and collected.
Gritting his teeth, Patrick said, “You can have any woman you want. Amanda Jewell is just an ordinary person. She’s not from the same world as you. Please don’t mess with her.”
“Why do you say that I’m playing with her feelings?”
“You pursued her in front of so many people, so aren’t you just putting pressure on her? I’ve seen many rich kids pursuing women: luxury cars, flowers, and luxury goods, and women believe that that was true love. In the end, these rich kids get rid of those women easily.”
Iverson was in deep thought. “Cars, flowers, luxury goods… It’s a good idea. Are you saying Amanda likes those?”
Patrick’s face was stiff. “Iverson Byran, don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you have money. Amanda is not a vain woman. Stay away from her.”
“You don’t have to tell me how great she is.”
Iverson’s eyes finally cooled down, and he gradually lost his patience. He looked at Patrick coldly and said, “I know better than you how great she is. You are the one that should think about it carefully. Why do you think that you are worthy of her?”
Patrick blanked out for a second.
Iverson sneered and said, “You keep saying that she is a divorced woman without any family background. You are saying that because you feel superior to her.”
Patrick immediately explained, “I never thought that way.”
“Is that so? If I hadn’t pursued her and made you feel a sense of crisis, I’m afraid that in the eyes of a young and promising elite lawyer like you, you would think you are too good for Amanda Jewell, who got divorced before?”
Iverson’s cold gaze was like a torch in the night, burning the hearts of the people who couldn’t stand the test.
Patrick’s face turned red.
Before he could explain himself, Iverson knocked on the table and said coldly, “Stay away from her. I’m warning you.”
With that, Iverson picked up the phone next to him and said, “Tina, see our guest out.”
Seeing the cold eyes of the man in front of him, Patrick’s heart sank.
The door of the office was opened.
The sweet and gentle secretary stood at the door. “Mr. Dolley, please.”
Patrick clenched his fists and got up.
“By the way,” Iverson’s voice rang out from behind him. “Since you’re Amanda’s friend, please come to our wedding.”
