Chapter 1054 She Is Pregnant
Bailey glared at him.
That's not the reason I want to meet those embroiderers. Karina previously mentioned her cousin to
me, so I want to find out more about her in advance. Because of Rainie, I've already offended Karina
several times. It's hard to guarantee that that woman won't try to sabotage me secretly. I don't want to
meet with unexpected failure. Prevention is always better than cure.
“I can embroider my own wedding dress, and if that doesn't work out, I can always buy one. It's not
really about this. Stop asking so many questions. Just answer mine. When are those embroiderers
coming to Hallsbay?”
After some thought, Zeke replied, “This was arranged by Mother. Maybe you should ask her.”
Bailey snorted twice.
Right now, Zeke is in charge of the entire Shurmer family. How could he not know about something
related to my marriage? He's encouraging me to seek out Waverly simply to strengthen our mother-
daughter bond. For this, he's indeed making every effort.
“Never mind. You carry on with your work, I'll go to... her.”
“Okay.”
After leaving the study, Bailey went straight downstairs.
The living room was empty, but the small kitchen was filled with tantalizing aromas.
She was a bit curious and headed straight for the kitchen.
“Ah, there you are, Bay. I was just about to have Sammy call you down.”
Waverly's voice echoed from the kitchen. The next moment, she emerged, carrying a plate of greasy
smoked Eisbein.
“You're too thin. You need to eat some nourishing food. I'm just idling at home anyway, so starting
today, I'll be responsible for your daily meals.”
After she finished speaking, she beckoned Bailey to the dining room.
With a faint smile, Bailey's eyes softened, the coldness and aloofness fading slightly.
This is my mother, my biological mother. Even though she caused me much pain, she ultimately
expressed her remorse. For the mere fact that she gave me life, I shouldn't bear a grudge against her
for a lifetime.
“Although I'm thin, I am in good health. Over the years, I've undergone a fair bit of training, so I have a
solid foundation. If you have nothing else to do, why not spend some effort on Julie's health? She
suffered a miscarriage and was later afflicted by toxins, leaving her frail. If you wish to become a
grandmother sooner, you should take better care of her.”
The smile on Waverly's face faltered, and she nearly dropped the plate she was holding.
A surge of scalding sensation snapped her back from her somewhat drifting thoughts.
She quickly placed the plate on the table, her expression full of guilt. “It's all my fault. If I hadn't been so
obsessed with being the perfect housewife, I wouldn't have hurt Julie. Don't worry. I've accepted her as
my daughter-in-law. I will take good care of her. Her health needs attention, and so does yours.”
Seeing that her persuasion was ineffective, Bailey did not say anything further. She strolled over and
sat down at the dining table.
“When are the embroiderers you've invited coming to Hallsbay?”
Waverly thought she was concerned about the wedding dress and quickly said, “They have arrived, but
they have had a long journey, so I got Sammy to let them rest in the hotel. If you wish to see them, I
can call the hotel manager now and get him to arrange for them to come over.”
Bailey waved her hand and said, “That won't be necessary. It's already dark out. Let's leave it until
tomorrow.”
“Okay, okay,” Waverly responded joyfully before handing a fork to Bailey.
“Give it a taste and see if it suits your palate. If you don't like it, I can make something else for you
tomorrow.”
Bailey was not picky about food. After accepting the fork, she stuffed a piece of pork shank into her Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
mouth.
The oily and smooth texture spread between her teeth before sliding down the esophagus into the
stomach.
Bailey subconsciously furrowed her brows.
Waverly assumed the other woman frowned because it did not suit her taste and quickly said, “If you
don't like it, spit it out. Don't force yourself to eat it.”
Seeing the earnest look in her eyes, Bailey could not bear to disappoint her. So, she steeled herself
and swallowed the pork shank.
The final result of forcing herself to swallow the food was a tumultuous upheaval in her stomach.
Despite her strong will, she found it somewhat unbearable.
“I'm going to the bathroom.”
After saying that, she got up, brushed past the two housekeepers, and strode toward the bathroom.
Waverly was somewhat bewildered.
Does my food taste that bad? This shouldn't be the case. I often cook over the years and have
significantly improved my culinary skills. Although it may not compare to those famous chefs, it's still
considered excellent.
“Um...” She looked at Sammy in confusion, frowning as she asked, “Is it really that horrible? Or is it
because she still holds a grudge against me, hence such a strong reaction?”
Sammy silently picked up another fork and tasted the dish before shaking her head, saying, “This
smoked Eisbein is your specialty, Mrs. Shurmer. The problem doesn't lie with the dish.”
At this point, she seemed to have thought of something as her eyes suddenly brightened. “Could it be
that Ms. Bailey is pregnant?”
Waverly was momentarily stunned. She then hurriedly chased after Bailey, instructing while running,
“Call the infirmary and get Dr. Willow to come to the main house.”
“Right away.”
News of Bailey's vomiting incident quickly spread throughout the Shurmer residence, causing its main
occupants to gather in the main house's living room.
Bailey was helped out of the bathroom by Waverly.
She could not help but laugh when she saw the startled expressions of Steven, Zeke, and the others.
“I'm fine. It's just an upset stomach,” she said.
Waverly gently helped her to the couch, speaking softly, “Don't dismiss it. Let's have a doctor take a
look.”
Bailey found it somewhat amusing.
I am a doctor. Not only that but the Divine Healer.
“Why don't I take her pulse,” Juliana suggested from the side.
“Sure, go ahead. You've been with her for such a long time. You must have learned quite a bit of her
medical skills. Hurry up and examine her,” Waverly said with a smile.
After moving to sit beside Bailey, Juliana turned to lift the former's arm and began to take her pulse.
Bailey did not give it much thought, simply attributing her discomfort to an empty stomach suddenly
filled with such greasy food, causing her to feel nauseous.
So, when Juliana announced she was pregnant, she was stunned for a good ten seconds.
Once she regained her senses, she instinctively checked her own pulse.
Her medical skills were exquisite. Even when taking her own pulse, she could accurately discern the
truth of her condition.
Almost as soon as her fingers touched her skin, she could sense the signs of pregnancy.
Indeed, I'm pregnant.
“Oh my! This is such great news, a joyous occasion indeed! Coupled with the wedding, it's a double
blessing!” Waverly's cheerful voice echoed in every corner of the living room.
Bailey belatedly realized she was pregnant, and her fingers trembled as they touched her lower
abdomen.
If the pregnancy had been detected three hours earlier, I could have rejoiced with Artemis. It's a shame
he left for Zaewora just a few hours ago. But this might be for the best. He doesn't know I'm pregnant,
so he can fully commit himself over there without being distracted by the pregnancy.
“Zeke, keep this news under wraps for now. I don't want the outside world to know about my
pregnancy, especially not Artemis.”
Zeke knew what she was worried about and nodded, saying, “All right. I'll do as you say.”
As Bailey gently caressed her belly, she broke into a light chuckle.
The loss of her previous pregnancy had always been a regret that lingered in her heart.
Now that she was pregnant again, she was determined not to let tragedy strike again.
Meanwhile, Sylvester and Justin were drowning their sorrows in the nightclub.
