Chapter 194
Chapter 194
Caridee's coming-of-age ceremony was not held at the Luther residence. Rather, they chose to hold it at Century Hotel in Hallsbay.
Ever since Maxton was announced to be suffering from intellectual disability, the Luther family had been filled with grief. Hence, it was not appropriate to hold such a major party at home.
After all, Caridee was the precious daughter of the Luther family and one of the Ten Acclaimed Socialites. She lived a very extravagant life.
To her, a coming-of-age ceremony was like a wedding ceremony that only happened once in a lifetime.
The Luther family booked the entire Century Hotel, making it a grand event.
The hotel had a total of twenty floors, and each floor was filled with elegantly dressed people with wine glasses in their hands.
Almost all the highly respected people from the country's political and corporate worlds were present, which was a great act of respect toward the Luther family that had existed for over a century.
The main venue was located on the eighteenth floor. That floor was particularly crowded with lights shining brightly and the sound of glasses clinking filled the air.
Meanwhile, Bailey was keeping an upset Victoria company. The latter was downing glasses of wine.
“Don't drink too much. This place is filled with people. You'll have a lot of trouble to deal with if you lose control of yourself tonight.”
Victoria grinned at the glass in her hand and scoffed, “How am I supposed to get drunk without having a hundred glasses? What a joke. Come on, Bay. We rarely get a chance to relax. Don't be so serious.”
With that, Victoria stuffed a glass full of red liquid into Bailey's hand. “Come. Join me!”
Sighing, Bailey accepted the glass and took a sip. She said exasperatedly, “I'll join you once this party is over. I really can't let you get drunk now. I'm afraid you'll go crazy and ruin Caridee's coming-of-age ceremony.”
Victoria rolled her eyes and waved a hand dismissively. “Fine. Go and get busy. Big Shot's duty is to socialize. It's a waste of talent to make you drink with me.”
Upon hearing that, Bailey glared at Victoria.
Bailey was about to say something when she saw Susan walking over in a dress.
Bailey was stunned, for the dress was not the one she wore earlier.
The design looks familiar. It looks like...
Victoria noticed something was off and asked, “Hey, pretty girl. Your dress looks familiar. Where did you steal it from?”
Susan was speechless.
What do you mean, steal?
“This is the one Bay designed for Aunt Caridee. Mrs. Luther ordered one for me in a smaller size. What do you think? Is it pretty?” she said.
It was at that moment when Bailey came to a realization.
No wonder it looks familiar. It's the mini version of Caridee's.
“Did you say Mrs. Luther ordered it for you?”
Susan nodded looking all adorable. “That's right. Mrs. Luther ordered it for me. She even said she wants me to perform a dance tonight—one that represents purity and elegance. It'll be a birthday gift for Aunt Caridee.”
Victoria clapped and smiled. “What a great idea to have the youngest girl of the Luther family perform a dance for her aunt and get both of them to wear the same design. It's as if the Luther family wants to tell everyone that Susan's status is the same as Caridee's—the precious daughter of the Luther family.”
“Really?” Bailey smirked.
She surmised Felicity was in a hurry to tell everyone that Bailey had given birth to a boy and a girl for Simon.
Raising Susan's status and acknowledging her identity was Felicity's way of warning Artemis.
It was warning him to not lay a finger on his brother's woman and make his niece his stepdaughter. Otherwise, he would be mocked by everyone.
Victoria gave it some thought and finally saw through Felicity's intentions.
“Susan, go look for Aunt Caridee in the dressing room. I'll have a few drinks with your mommy,” Victoria suggested.
Susan flashed an okay sign and disappeared into the crowd.
Victoria took a seat beside Bailey, tugged at the latter's arm, and teased, “Hey, buddy. Tell me. Are you and Artemis really planning to push the boundaries of morals and become a couple?”
Bailey shoved a glass into Victoria's hand and picked up a piece of cake to stuff the latter's mouth. “Just eat and drink. Stop spouting nonsense.”
In the meantime, a man wearing a cap knocked on a door in the corner of a lounge on the fifteenth floor.
Several seconds later, the door opened, and a young lady ushered him in.
Rhonda shut the door quietly and turned around, asking, “Did anyone follow you? There are people watching all over this place. We'll make a mistake if we're not careful.”
Cadence naturally wrapped an arm around her shoulder and locked her in his embrace, while he used the other to touch her flat belly. He raised a brow and asked, “How have you been recently? Is my son healthy?”
A hint of disgust flashed through Rhonda's eyes. She pushed him away and hissed, “I'm being serious here. Can you stop messing around?”
Cadence pulled her to a couch and settled down, smiling. “Okay, okay. Don't worry. I never leave traces when I visit a place. Just attend the party in peace and let me handle the rest. I'll let you know once I've drugged Artemis.”
After saying that, a perverted smile formed on his lips. “It's time to let Artemis get a tasts of the woman I've slept with. This time, he's officially being cheated on.”
Humiliation flooded Rhonda's heart. She found herself extremely despicable and dirty as if nothing in this world could clean her completely.
“Okay. You'd better not make a mistake, or you'll die in Hallsbay, not to mention your son.”
Cadence burst out laughing and reminded, “This is Artemis' son. Remember that, okay? Don't let things slip.”
Rhonda was baffled by his words.
Meanwhile, after Bailey and Victoria had a few glasses of wine, Zayron appeared from the crowd. “Bailey, I have news.”
Hearing that, Bailey arched a brow and crooked her finger at him with an enchanting smile on her face. “Spill it.”
Zayron shuddered, and he felt goosebumps all over his body.
Despite that, he still went up to her and whispered something into her ears.
After listening to his words, a half-smile crept up to Bailey's lips. “Hm... Interesting.”
She then patted his shoulder and instructed, “You have one task today, that is to watch him. Remember that. Keep a close eye on him. I'll punish you if you lose him.”
Zayron was dumbfounded. I'm so stupid. I've just set myself up for a beating. Content rights by NôvelDr//ama.Org.
Right then, a commotion broke out at the entrance, and the crowd rushed over in that direction.
“The Luthers and the Chivers family are here. Come on. Let's go offer our wishes.”
Oh, yes. Who knows? We might just gain the Luther family's support by amusing their little princess.”
“You just want to be their son-in-law, don't you? Too bad. Her parents aren't interested in you.”
“Haha!”
Bailey whipped her head around to look at Victoria, who stood beside her. She asked the latter, “Do you want to go over there to watch the show?”
“Sure. This drinking session is no fun. You're coming home with me later to have another round.”
