Chapter 75: Baby You’re Finally Awake
Xu Ningzhou had been thinking over a solution before he got off work. Coming out of the company, he was driven to Xinghan Music Academy. Unfortunately, he found himself in a traffic jam caused by an accident due to the heavy rain on the way.
Xu Ningzhou did not come up with a solution the next day. At first, he dialed the phone number of Song Qinghuan and could get through to her, but later he found her phone was powered off.
“Cousin?” To her surprise, Shen Yinian saw his cousin in Xinghan, “What are you coming for?”
“Where’s Song Qinghuan?” Xu Ningzhou asked calmly.
Shen Yinian gave him a sidelong glance with a look of ‘I knew it!’, “Don’t you know Song Qinghuan went home for a leave yesterday?”
“Home?”, Xu Ningzhou had really no idea, “Back to which home?”
“You are silly, of course the home in Lin’an City.” Shen Yinian made a pause and then asked queerly, “Did you quarrel with her? Otherwise, how didn’t you, the Great Devil, know Song Qinghuan is not here in school?”
“I can’t get through to her.” Xu Ningzhou raised his chin toward Shen Yinian, “You take a try.”
“Did you really quarrel?” Shen Yinian took out her phone while imagining what happened after a couple were at odds with each other. She chattered to Xu Ningzhou, “You are a talent, really, I never know who she can be mad at.”
“Sorry, the subscriber you dialed is powered off…”
Shen Yinian did not give up and dialed it again. Xu Ningzhou snatched her cellphone and he dialed the number. Rolling her eyes at him gracefully, Shen Yinian said, “Rudely!”
It was still the cold electronic voice saying that “The subscriber you dialed is powered off”. Logging in the WeChat ID of Shen Yinian, Xu Ningzhou clicked on the icon of Song Qinghuan directly. Without raising his head, he asked, “What did she say to you before she left?”
Perhaps because Xu Ningzhou was serious, and they couldn’t get through to Song Qinghuan, Shen Yinian said a little nervously, “She called me at the airport, telling me that she had to go home for a leave and I didn’t have to wait for her to eat together these two days.”
“Is that all?” Xu Ningzhou found the chat records between Shen Yinian and Song Qinghuan were two days ago, and Song Qinghuan didn’t reply to the messages sent by Shen Yinian to her this morning and last night.
Xu Ningzhou frowned. He thought at first that Song Qinghuan did not reply to his messages because she was still angry with him, but it seemed that she replied to nobody.
Returning the phone to Shen Yinian, Xu Ningzhou went out hurriedly. Shen Yinian quickly grabbed one of his arms, “What happened? Where are you going?” she asked.
“Lin’an City.”
Shen Yinian heard only three words. Xu Ningzhou asked his driver to park the car directly at the main entrance of the college. Hanging up the phone, he made another call to his assistant instructing him on some business affairs. He rapidly bought an earliest air ticket online to Lin’an City.
The sky was dark and gloomy overhead. Song Qinghuan got sick after a cold current came.
She had a high fever. She was boiling hot and dazed, as if she were floating on the surface of the sea.
It happened as the painful memories of her previous life swept through her mind like the tide just after she knew that Xia Ru’nan went mad and was sent to a convalescent hospital, and saw Song Mingxiu leaving with Song Shuyao in his hold.
Lying on the big bed of her room in a hotel, Song Qinghuan had a dream with intermittent fragments in which every memory was like a yellow old photo. At first, she dreamed that she was kidnapped when she was seven years old. She could hear the bright laugh of the boy who had clean and warm smiles on his white face.
She saw the boy speaking something anxiously with his mouth open and close, but she could not hear what he was saying.
Song Qinghuan felt she was finally coming close when the picture got blurrier and blurrier.
She ‘saw’ herself as a child, and the boy who had saved her.
It was drizzling, and the boy was all wet. The rain wet his hair ends, and the water drops ran down the boy’s face. But he did not care about the rain on his face, running out of the abandoned factory with Song Qinghuan in the childhood on his back who was wearing a dirty princess dress.
At that time, little Song Qinghuan almost fell asleep as she was cold to shiver. As a child, the boy watched TV much, and he was afraid that she would not wake up when she fell asleep, so he turned his head to talk with the little girl on his back, comforting her and telling her not to sleep as he walked quickly. He said that there would be a rainbow after the rain stopped, which was particularly beautiful, and they would wait for the rainbow together.
Little Song Qinghuan opened her blurry eyes, seeing only the dim sky and the drizzle.
On the way down a flight of steps, the boy slipped and fell onto the ground with Song Qinghuan because of the rain.
Little dirty Song Qinghuan was dizzy, and then she said, “No rainbow, you are cheating me.”RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
But the little boy smiled and pointed to his face. “Yes, here is the rainbow, brother is the rainbow.” The little red-lipped and white-toothed boy smiled and said earnestly.
Song Qinghuan nodded to agree. The boy shined as he smiled, really like a beautiful rainbow.
“Wait for me, I will come to you.”
The pictures in memory were dispersed, followed by the flames all over the sky. Song Qinghuan felt her respiratory tract was blocked, and she was choked to cough by the smoke. She wanted to call for help, but she could not make any voice.
“Song Qinghuan!”
“Song Qinghuan!”
From far to near, some voice came to her ears. ‘Who is calling me?’ Song Qinghuan blankly thought.
The man was still calling her, “Song Qinghuan!”
The man was calling her anxiously and uneasily. The voice was familiar. Song Qinghuan raised her hands and tried to shake off the smoke in front of her. She wanted to see clearly who had found her before she died.
Song Qinghuan slowly raised her heavy eyelids as she waved her arms. Her bushy and curled eyelash flapped like a fluttering butterfly. She managed several times to finally open her eyes.
“Thank God, honey, you’re awake now.” Xu Ningzhou said peacefully in a hoarse voice as he clenched Song Qinghuan’s fingers.
It was like his heart finally returned to its place.
Muddleheaded at the moment, Song Qinghuan was totally weak. She could feel her back was wet like she was soaked in water, and her vision was blurred. She only noticed that the voice in her ear was strangely overlapped with that in her dream and Song Qinghuan made efforts to focus her sight, and then she saw a decadent yet handsome face.
Song Qinghuan opened her mouth. She was uncomfortable as her throat was swollen due to high fever. Xu Ningzhou just clicked the service bell. He immediately picked up a cup of honey water he prepared and sent it with an inserted straw to her mouth.
“Drink it slowly.” With a wrinkled sweater on, Xu Ningzhou, a young man previously in high spirits, had got two black eyes and a chin full of stubble. It was difficult for Song Qinghuan to open her mouth. She bit the straw and managed to swallow a few mouthfuls of warm honey water, taking some short and weak breaths.
“Thank you.” The voice made by Song Qinghuan was as weak as that made by a mosquito, which was hoarse, hard to hear like a broken air box instead of the previous clean voice like the sound of nature.
With his sparkling eyes, Xu Ningzhou looked at Song Qinghuan. Suddenly, he lowered his head close to Song Qinghuan, leaving her a gentle kiss on the back of the hand with an intravenous injector.
