Chapter 356
Chapter 356
The pregnant woman had been silent ever since the argument. The mother and son were in a tug of
war, but at home the old lady was the one calling the shots. She was a strong-willed woman. After
leaving the hospital, she went straight to the police station by taxi. "Is anyone here? I need to file a
report." As soon as she arrived at the police station, she clutched her waist and cried out in pain. Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
An officer noticed her. Her nosebleed had stopped but there were still dried traces of it on her cheek.
Her face was swollen. It was obvious she had been assaulted. The officer quickly approached to ask,
"Ma'am, what happened to you?"
Seeing the officer, the old woman burst into tears, "Officer, help me, please. I beg you to stand up for
me and my son."
"Ma'am, please sit down and tell us what happened," the officer said, quickly bringing over a few chairs
for them to sit on.
Officer Chad was checking some documents when he noticed the woman with dried blood on her face.
He was curious. This was the first time his department had ever seen such a badly beaten person.
The old woman sat down and began to speak, "My son and I have been beaten up by a man named
Andre and his family members."
Officer Chad froze at the mention of Andre's name. His heartbeat quickened.
"We took my daughter-in-law to the hospital for a prenatal checkup, and an argument broke out there,"
the old woman explained.
Officer Chad remembered his sister mentioning that she was going to accompany Mia for her prenatal
checkup that day. The location matched.
The old woman continued crying, "Then three people appeared. They were all young. They attacked an
old woman like me. Two women and one man. They almost beat me to death."
Officer Chad put down the documents he was holding. The number of assailants matched too.
"The pregnant woman seemed to be Andre's wife. She knocked me down, and then the man punched
me. They kicked me. I'm just an old woman. They almost killed me. One of the women even insulted
me. She said such horrible things that I wanted to die. She told me to crawl into my son's bed and bear
his child."
Chad was speechless. There was only one person who could say such a thing. Other than his
outspoken and straightforward sister, who else could it be!
The officer said, "Ma'am, this is the economic crime division. You should go to...."
Chad interrupted his subordinate, walked over, and handed him the documents, "Isaac, take care of
these documents. I'll handle this."
"Yes, Captain."
Officer Isaac stood up, pointing at Chad and introduced him to the group, "This is our captain. You can
speak directly to him."
"You're the person in charge, right? Officer Chad. I beg you to stand up for me." The old woman started
crying again in the police station.
Chad pointed to his office, "You follow me."
Chad didn't need to ask them anything. He was already massaging his temples.
Not even five minutes later, Molly arrived at the police station, holding an umbrella and laughing,
"Everyone's busy, huh? Still working?"
"The captain is in his office dealing with an assault case. The victim looks pretty bad, her face is all
bloody. You better wait outside for a while," Donnie warned.
Hearing Molly's voice, Chad yelled from his office, "Get in here!"
Molly looked at Donnie, "You better go. My brother is calling for you. Sounds like he's not in a good
mood."
"Molly!"
Molly curiously glanced at the doorway, "Huh? Is he calling me?"
Molly approached the door curiously, knocked, and said, "Chad, I'm here." She pushed open the door
and saw the same three people she had just met.
When the three of them saw Molly, their pupils contracted in shock. Molly looked at her brother who
was suppressing his anger, then at the mother and son sitting on the sofa, and the pregnant woman
next to them.
Molly connected the dots with what Donnie had just said. No explanation was needed. Molly
understood everything instantly. She straightened her back, walked into her brother's office, closed the
door, and locked it. "So you came to file a report? And you came to my brother to do it?"
The old woman was completely stunned. How was this possible? Her family worked in the police
station!
Molly walked over, "You think the three of us could've beaten and insulted you in a public place without
having any backup? You came to my brother to file a report? You're walking right into the lion's den. My
brother hates people who abuse their daughters-in-law and wives the most. You weren't beaten enough
just now and now you want my brother to punch you?"
Seeing Molly appear, their minds were already in turmoil and they didn't dare pretend to cry. "Even if
you are his sister, if you break the law, you'll go to jail."
Molly looked at the naive old woman, "Ignorant fool."
Chad intervened, "Molly, what happened?"
Molly and her friends wouldn’t just pick a fight with anyone. There must've been something that
provoked them.
Molly gave the mother and son a contemptuous look and summarized for her brother, "Even beasts
know how to protect their offspring. This mother and son are worse than beasts."
"Step out."
Molly was kicked out of the office by her brother again. She sat outside, not worried that she would go
to jail. With Chad there, as long as she didn't kill anyone, he could pretty much handle anything for her.
Nevertheless, Molly took out her phone and called her the other two in her family.
"Mia, what are you doing?"
"Eating cold noodles, what's up?"
At the Cedillo family dinning room, several takeout boxes and a few bottles of Sprite were placed on
the table. Drinking too much Sprite made it fizz up your nose, but Hansen loved that feeling. It made
him feel young, like he was back in his thirties or forties, sitting by the roadside eating cold noodles
from a street vendor.
A bite of cold noodles, a sip of Sprite. Cool and refreshing, it felt heavenly.
"Mia brought so many delicious foods back from her prenatal checkup. Next time, I'll accompany you to
the hospital," Hansen said.
Since it was the weekend, all the Cedillo family members were home except Molly. Mia was drinking
freshly squeezed juice, while Hansen and Naomi were drinking Sprite.
Bruce, Andre, and Leo were drinking beer.
Hearing this made Molly hungry. If she had known, she would have gone home. "I have something to
tell you. The mother and son from the hospital this morning, I met them again. They came to my
brother's police station to file a report and my brother called them to his office."
It had been a while since Mia had anything spicy. When she took a bite of something with a hint of
spicy flavor, she found herself wiping her runny nose. Andre quickly reached out with a napkin. Mia
dabbed her nose and turned to Molly, "Isn't this just asking for trouble?"
Normally, anyone who came to Chad could get their justice. Unless it involved Molly. Because in
Chad's heart, Molly was the exception. She was his favored one.
Molly, standing under the shade of the police station's entrance, replied, "Exactly! This mother and son
duo are just down on their luck, aren't they? My brother is a certified lawyer. Wouldn't it be something if,
instead of them getting me in hot water, my brother ends up turning the tables on them?"
Mia chuckled, "You know what, that just might happen."
