Sweet Mischief’s Rollercoaster Romance

Chapter 369

Chapter 369

Chad walked over to his mother and sister, "Work not done yet?"

Molly immediately walked over and affectionately linked arms with Chad, "Bro, I've finished, it's just that

mom doesn’t believe in my capabilities."

Coleen asked her son, "What brings you here?"

"Picking up your darling daughter from work. If I didn't come, she was all set to spend the night at the

office."

Waving at her mother, Molly said, "Mom, my brother's here to pick me up, so I'm leaving now. We won't

be home for dinner tonight, see you later."

With that, Molly walked out of the office with her arm looped in Chad's. As they walked away, their

voices could still be faintly heard, "Bro, what should we eat? I was looking at roast lamb online earlier,

but it's too big for just the two of us. How about we go for a roast suckling pig instead?"

Chad responded, "A whole suckling pig, you think you can finish that?"

"Well, you've got a point."

The office was still in shock. The handsome, imposing man who just left was none other than the son of

Chade Inc.. What was more surprising was how spoiled the little miss seemed to be.

Coleen placed the papers she was holding back on her daughter's desk and looked at the manager,

"Come with me."

The manager was startled, unsure what the CEO wanted to discuss with him. The remaining office

workers were also speculating.

They knew that Coleen's daughter was interning at the company, leading them to wonder why the little

miss had suddenly decided to intern.

Some said the rich people's daughter was just looking for a job to pass the time and to have a decent

job to her name when she got married.

Others suggested that the real reason for the internship was that the CEO wanted to groom his

daughter to take over the company in the future.

"But doesn't the CEO have a son? Why would he want his daughter to take over?"

"The CEO's son is a police officer, he would have to resign to take over the company."

"Why would anyone want to be a police officer when they could run a company?"

"Let's not try to figure out the thinking of the rich."

...

Secretly, not only the staff was internally conflicted, but even the executives were conflicted.

The manager just didn't know what to do with the spoiled young lady.

Coleen had figured that would happen, so she called him out.

In the car, Molly was still struggling with what would be better to eat when Chad asked her, "How much

do you make in a day when a dinner is estimated to cost at least $300 ?"

"Brother, don't look down on me. At worst, after I finish this meal, I won't go to a restaurant for a

month."

Molly still couldn't find a place later. Chad drove her to his old college campus, "You used to love the

duck pot here. You haven't had it since I graduated, let's have it again tonight."

Molly's face lit up with delight, "That's right, how did I not think of that?"

Chad's college was surrounded by a variety of budget-friendly and delicious dining options. When he

was in college, his sister used to visit this place quite often.

The most memorable time was when his high school friends came to visit. He didn't know which place

was good, so he called his sister for advice.

Usually, the place was packed. But since it was the summer break, most of the students were home

and it wasn't as busy.

Sitting in the restaurant, Molly ordered several dishes without even looking at the menu.

"Bro, what were you up to today?" she asked.

Chad lied smoothly, "Sleeping."

Molly didn't suspect a thing and took a bite of the appetizer.

Chad, remembering Leo's evasive demeanor in the car, asked curiously, "What about you?"

"Working," Molly replied, not mentioning the lunch meeting with the three of them.

Chad asked again, "How did you take your lunch?"

Molly thought he didn't know about it and lied, "I went to a restaurant. The stir-fried potatoes at the

company's cafeteria are quite good."

Chad looked into his sister's eyes, "Even if I'm on suspension, I'm still a cop."

Molly: "....."

Molly wondered: how did he know?

She lowered her gaze, unable to meet her brother's eyes.

Soon, the duck pot was served.

Chad handed her a pair of gloves, "What were you three plotting at lunch?"

Molly looked up in surprise, "How did you know?"

Chad: "I'm your brother, I know you like the back of my hand. How could I not figure out where you

went for lunch?"

Molly: "....."

She took the gloves and put them on, "We didn't say much. Mia and Leo were worried about me acting

impulsively, so they took me out for lunch to talk some sense into me."

"What did you say about me?" Chad asked again.

Molly was shocked again, "How did you know we were talking about you?"

Chad: "I'm a cop."

Molly was annoyed: were all cops this good?

"We didn't really say much. We were just discussing you over lunch. Leo expressed his personal

opinion, and then I argued with him, and Mia sided with him."

Chad opened a soda for Molly and handed it to her, "What did you say that made you and Mia not on

the same side?"

Molly lowered her head and picked at her food, saying with a hint of frustration: "Leo said the person

who's after you this time is higher up, like our dad and my big brother's superior. Otherwise, Officer

Rubin's case would have been buried by my big brother, who would dare suspend you and reopen the

investigation."

The three youngsters were sitting together, their table laden with dishes.

Leo said, "Jade, if your brother marries a high official's daughter, this incident wouldn't have escalated

to the point of him getting suspended. Because the higher-ups would definitely protect their son-in-law,

and Chad's future would be secured without him worrying a thing. Do you know why officials had

alliance marriage in ancient times? It's because they can help each other in the political world, so they

won't be left helpless."

After Leo finished, Molly got angry, "What era is it now? Do men still need to secure their future through

marriage? Did my dad marry my mom because she's the daughter of a high official? Did my big brother

marry Naomi because she's the daughter of a high official? Are you saying my dad and my big brother

owe their positions to their wives?

The saying goes, 'marry a virtuous wife, not a powerful one.' A harmonious family leads to prosperity. If

you marry a restless woman, no matter how high her status is, it's useless with all the petty squabbles."

Leo reminded her humbly, "Jade, it's 'marry a virtuous wife, not a beautiful one.' Don't go changing

people's sayings."

The visibly agitated Molly vented, "Ha! If a man can change his stripes, then I'm not a Smith. Do you

think your dad would've fallen head over heels for your mom and had you if she wasn't a looker? Would

Andre, the pinnacle of chastity, put Mia under house arrest at 8 p.m. if she wasn’t a knockout? Would

my dad ever lose his temper if my mom wasn't absolutely gorgeous?"

A certain young and beautiful expectant mother immediately adjusted her sitting posture.

She thought to herself, "Well, she's right. If I wasn't attractive, my husband probably wouldn't even

spare me a second glance. And those late nights of sore legs and aching backs? Forget about it."
