Chapter 379
Chapter 379
It wasn't until Andre kissed her tender lips until they turned slightly red that he finally let her go."When
you saw me in the living room earlier, why didn't you speak?"
"I was so overwhelmed with joy, I didn't know what to say."
Andre chuckled, wrapping an arm around his petite wife, pinching her cheek affectionately. He leaned
down, nuzzling her forehead, "Sweet Mia, from now on, wherever I go, I'll take both you and our little
one with me."
"Honey, I've missed and loved you so much."
With that, Mia tiptoed, puckering her lips, wrapping her arms around Andre's neck, seeking another
kiss. Andre, lost in the moment, wished he could keep her close forever. But seeing her once delicate
lips now swollen, he didn't want to cause her any more discomfort. So he bent down and gave her a
gentle peck.
Not long after, the couple descended to the dining room for dinner. By then, the rest of the Cedillo
family had finished their meals. Only the couple remained in the vast dining room, undisturbed by the
staff. Women understood women, and Naomi, the head housekeeper, had instructed the staff to give
the couple some privacy, sensing they had a lot to catch up on.
As Mia sat with her husband, she playfully took a big sip of soup right in front of him, "Honey, you have
no idea. While you were away, I took such good care of myself and our baby."
A doting look appeared on Andre's face as he picked up a piece of broccoli and held it to Mia's lips.
She opened her mouth and took a bite, then teasingly asked, "Why aren't you feeding me meat? Don't
you love me anymore?"
Seeing his wife's playful pout, Andre chuckled and picked up a piece of steak, offering it to her. Mia,
enjoying her husband's attention, took a big bite.
"Honey, just look at the extra weight on my face. I've been eating well while you were away." Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
Andre playfully pinched Mia's cheek, "Indeed, you've put on a bit."
Mia's laughter made her round cheeks even more adorable. "Have you sorted everything out at the
company?"
"Yes."
Mia continued, "Did you see Chad?"
Andre reassured her, "I did. Don't worry, Chad's injuries aren't severe, but his car took a beating."
Mia nodded, eating her meal while speculating who might have targeted Chad. Andre listened intently
to her analysis.
"I don't think it's a business rival. If Chad took a longer leave, he'd be fit for his role. It's better to
assume a position without any bloodshed than to do so with a life on one's conscience. Leo mentioned
they were investigating a kidnapping case from sixteen years ago. Maybe Chad found something. Wait!
Honey, we haven't seen Leo all day." Mia's voice grew anxious, thinking of her dear friend and nephew.
If Chad had been targeted, was Leo in danger too?
Her eyes filled with concern, "What do we do? I haven't seen Leo all day. Call him and find out where
he is."
Mia, not having her phone nearby, grabbed Andre's from the table and quickly dialed Leo's number.
Seeing Mia's distress, Andre felt a surge of gratitude. These kids had found true friends in each other.
Taking the phone from Mia, Andre said, "Eat your meal, Mia. I'll talk to Leo."
After a few rings, Leo answered, "Uncle?"
Andre inquired, "Where are you?"
Hearing Mia's anxious voice in the background, Leo realized his uncle was back home. "Uncle, I'm in
West Meadows. When Chad had the accident, I was about to go to the police station regarding the
Walton family's case from sixteen years ago. I had a hunch something was going to happen in West
Meadows, so I came. By the time I got here, Ellory and Kyle had disappeared. I've been asking around,
but no one seems to know where they are."
Andre, not hiding anything from Mia, asked, "Did you report it to the police?"
"I did, but they won't take the case since it's only been a short time. I'm currently checking every casino
for their whereabouts."
Andre pressed, "What's your plan?"
"I've booked a hotel here for a week. If they're still missing tomorrow, I'll report it again and work with
the police. Once I find them, I need to get information out of them. You and the family shouldn't worry
about me. I spoke to Chad earlier; he's okay. Given the current public sentiment towards Chad, it's best
if he stays away from our family's old case for now. You've just returned, and only you can handle the
Marshal family. Mia's missed you, and she's pregnant. Don't leave her or home again. I'll handle this."
Andre felt a surge of pride hearing Leo's words, and only Mia could sense his emotions. "Stay safe."
After the call, Mia eagerly waited for Andre to update her on Leo's whereabouts. Andre didn't hide
anything, realizing that Mia wasn't a child and had a keen sense of the intricate relationships around
them.
Hearing Andre's account, Mia's eyes clouded with worry, "Honey, how could you agree to this? Leo
can't even win a fight against me, and Molly always gets the better of him in arguments. He's not
equipped to handle danger."
Andre responded, "He has to face these challenges someday. I trust Leo. Do you?"
"I do, but I'm still worried about him," Mia admitted, her brows furrowed.
Andre teased, tapping her nose, "If you keep talking about him, I'll get jealous."
Mia retorted, "Jealous? I'm carrying your child. Think about what we'll do if Leo's in danger in West
Meadows. Chad can defend himself because of his profession. If not, he'd have been in a worse state
this morning. Leo hasn't had formal training; he can't even defend himself."
Andre looked seriously at Mia, "Mia, Leo isn't useless. I personally trained him."
Mia sighed, realizing further discussion was futile. Instead, she silently prayed for Leo's safety.
After dinner, Andre had work to attend to. Mia, being understanding and considerate, didn't disturb him
and went for a walk in the garden.
