Chapter 879
He was almost a head taller than her.
Every time they got close, she found it difficult to converse with hi
“It’s a gynecology clinic! There’s no reason for a man like you to be there!”
Kevan retorted confidently. “Are there no men who accompany their wives to that clinic?
“Are you going there to accompany your wife, then?” Larissa asked.
“Yep.” Kevan nodded with amusement in his eyes.
Larissa blushed under his intense gaze. She pushed him away in embarrassment. “In any case, you are not allowed to go!”
Kevan tried to compromise. “Let me send you to the entrance. I won’t go in, what do you think?” Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Seeing as Larissa was going to reject him once more, he added. “You just had an incident. I’m worried about you.”
was evident that he was concemed. Moreover, he had already adopted a lower stance.
If it weren’t for Wendy’s strict instructions to not tell Kevan Larissa would have given in to his persuasion.
“That won’t work either. Walt at home. We will return soon,” she said with firm resolve.
The tense standoff continued for some time.
In terms of being stubborn, Kevan was on par with Larissa. Still he felt that there was no need to insist at this moment.
“Alright” Kevan took a step back and conceded. “Go now so that you can return early. Call me when you get there to let me know you are
safe.”
Wendy chose to meet Larissa at a cale near the clinic.
She sat by the window with a cup of hot coffee in her hands, staring blankly at the people hurrying past.
Larissa caught sight of her and walked over.
She waved her hand in front of Wendy’s face and asked, “What are you staring at?”
Wendy redirected her gaze and squeezed out a forceful smile. “You came quickly.”
Larissa sat down on the sola across from Wendy and got straight to the point, “What do you want to talk about? You’re being so mysterious by insisting on discussing this face to face.”
Before Larissa arrived, Wendy had prepared herself mentally and came up with several drafts in her mind as to how she would breach the
topic.
She mustered her courage and spoke to Larissa, “Actually, I didn’t go to the doctor’s this morning. My appointment is in the attemoon.”
“Huh? Then why did you go out so early in the morning?” Larissa was puzzled.
She had heard what happened that morning from Kevan.
Although Kevan mentioned that Wendy seemed a little odd, Larissa hadn’t thought much about it. She believed that Wendy just didn’t
want to wake her up.
Now maybe Kevan was right.
Wendy lowered her head and stined her cup of coffee with a leaspoon absent–mindedly.
“I went to the police station just now,” Wendy said in a whisper.
Straining her ears, Larissa had to listen very closely to catch what she said,
“Why did you go to the police station? To drop the case? Larissa remembered what Wendy said at the hotel yesterday morning.
Her heart sank and the expression on her face furned grim.
Her silence confirmed Larissa’s assumptions.
Larissa slammed her hand on the table in frustration. “Wendy, have you lost your mind?”
