Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 888

Chapter 888

With trembling hands, Wendy used all her strength to push the door handle down.

However, she struggled to open the door.

After some time, the people outside lost their patience.

They pushed the heavy door which collided with Wendy, who was behind the door.

She staggered back several paces.

Feeling the resistance, one of the people outside poked their heads in.

They were surprised when they saw Wendy standing behind the door. “Miss, are you okay?”

Wendy endured the pain and waved her hands weakly. “I’m fine.”

She moved further away from the door. To avoid contact with men in the room, she decided to hide in the bathroom.

One by one, a large group of men entered the room.

The room was initially quite spacious, but suddenly it felt cramped with the number of people inside right now.

Vick had them lined up according to order.

Some people who seemed to be Aldorian were not respectful of Vick’s authority.

Before a confict could arise, a few Caldorians who were Vick’s underlings quickly subdued them.

*Ms. Simmons, Aren’t you going to look at more evidence?” Vick called out to her.

Wendy didn’t want to go out to face the music. She could already guess the outcome. The men would bring out more evidence confirming that Edmund had lied to her and proved that she was a foolish woman who doubted her best friend of ten years.

Vick came to the bathroom door and urged Wendy, “Ms. Simmons? You should come out now! These people are very troublesome. Listen to their testimony so that I can get them to leave sooner!”

Wendy had no choice but to come out.

Now she could see the men who had just entered the room. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

It was a diverse mix of Caldorians and Aldovians. However, they all had tough looks and menacing appearances.

Most of them were as tall as Vick and stronger than the average man.

Some of the Aldovian thugs whistled loudly when they saw Wendy.

“What are you doing? All of you better behave! If not, you won’t leave here alive!” Vick spat angrity, his hand on the gun at his waist.

They quietened down after his warning.

Vick held his phone up in front of them and asked, “Do you remember this man?”

Wendy saw clearly that it was Edmund’s photo on his phone screen,

“We remember!”

The Aldovian thugs laughed.

“He is a coward! We beat him up so badly that he didn’t dare to resist. He even relied on a woman for protection!”

Vick swiped to another photo on his phone. It was Larissa’s photo this time. “Is this the woman who had protected him?”

It was rare for a Caldorian woman to appear in this motel, let alone one who dared to confront them.

The thugs nodded vigorously. “Yes, it’s her! Initially, there were only two of them. After she ran away, she returned with a bunch of people

to save the coward.”

They were not wearing their usual black suits today, so the thugs didn’t recognize them.

When they heard Vick’s words, the thugs turned to get a better look. “It seems so

Once they confirmed that Vick was right, the thugs grew cautious.

“Why did you bring us here? Are you planning to even the score from that day?”

Vick chuckled. “Revenge is just an added bonus.”

Having said that, he gave each of the thugs a punch in the tender spot of their abdomens.

Cries of pain rang out and the thugs doubled over in agony, clutching their stomachs.

Vick turned to Kevan and asked in a flattering manner. “Mr. Rogers, are you satisfed now?”

Kevan’s gaze was cold. “It’s not enough.”

He stood up and drew the gun from Vick’s waist

Smiling faintly, he said, “Ms. Simmons, you can go back and hide in the bathroom if you’d like.”
