Sweet Subterfuge

Chapter 895

Chapter 895

Wendy seemed to have missed Larissa’s signal.

She continued talking to Kevan, “Lari had a tough time from pregnancy to childbirth, and even during her postpartum period.

“When she first arrived, she was unfamiliar with the place. She had to attend school. Every day, she was running between school and

heme. It was really tough.

“It was only later, when her belly got bigger, that she couldn’t move around as much. So, she stayed home until childbirth.

“Both of us had never given birth before, so we had no experience. I collected a lot of recipes, but my cooking skills were quite limited. The

truth is, Lari would rather eat fries and burgers than touch the nutritious meals I made.”

Wendy shot a resentful glance at Larissa.

“You call those ‘nutritious meals? If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to torture me or make my life miserable!” Larissa also

expressed her dissatisfaction.

“Hey, why are you so ungrateful? Even if my cooking wasn’t the best, at least my heart was in the right place. Couldn’t you pretend that I

did a good job just to cheer me up a bit?” Wendy grumbled in frustration.

“You’ve tasted your own cooking: do you really think I could pretend?” Larissa countered. She was unwilling to back down.

Kevan was afraid that their argument might escalate further. He quickly intervened, saying. “Alright, alright, let’s drop the subject.”

The two women exchanged glares and simultaneously let out an annoyed “Hmph.”

They turned their heads away from each other, resembling quarreling elementary school children.

He forcefully changed the topic. “I go arrange for Wendy’s discharge procedure. Where will you go afterward? To your place or ours?”

“Mine!”

“Ours!”

Both Larissa and Wendy responded simultaneously but with completely different answers.

“We’re going to our place. I’ll drag you there even if you refuse!” Larissa’s tone was resolute.

displeasure.

“Why are you acting like this? How is what you’re doing any different from Edmund?” Wendy expressed her displ

However, the room fell into an awkward silence the moment she made that comparison. The air was thick with tension.

Wendy nervously clutched her spoon. After a while, she quietly apologized, “I’m sorry. That’s not what I meant. Please don’t

misunderstand.”

Larissa quickly responded with a simple “Okay,” preferring not to dwell on the topic related to that person any longer.

In the end, Larissa managed to convince Wendy to come with her. This is from NôvelDrama.Org.

Larissa had a valid argument. “You’ve just had surgery. You need someone to look after you. But don’t get the idea that I want you to stay

at my place. Once you’re back on your feet, you’re the first one I’ll kick out!”

Wendy didn’t even lunch. She responded coldly. “Fine.”

Kevan and Larissa left Wendy at home after repeating the various instructions given by the doctor. They were on their way to the supermarket to purchase the items needed for Wendy’s recovery.

On the journey, Kevan revisited the topic that had been cut short during their hospital visit due to escalating tensions.

*So. was it really tough for you when you gave birth back then?”

She hesitated briefly before waving her hand dismissively. “Don’t mind Wendy’s words. You know she likes exaggerating.”

She felt somewhat resistant. “It’s all in the past. There’s nothing much to say.”

From her perspective, his current behavior seemed like a form of “sell–inflicted pain.”

What could he possibly achieve by knowing that she had a difficult time back then? Alter all, he didn’t possess a time machine to alter the

past.

“I still want to know,” he insisted.

She sighed softly. She propped up her chin as she gazed out of the window. After a while, she turned back to him and said. “Alright, then tell you.”
