Chapter 117 I'll Take You Out Tomorrow (Part One)
It was nightfall and the stars sparkled bright in the sky.
People were asleep when the sun slowly rose and tinted the sky a pale red. A while later, several
planes flew across the clear and sunny blue sky of M City towards P City.
Sitting alone in the front seat of the cabin, Spencer looked out the window as he rubbed his forehead.
He felt empty in the absence of his beloved Fiona and days seemed like years. He was getting
impatient, and yet had no idea of what he had to do to save her. And he'd completely forgotten about
Celine in the process.
He'd known for a while that he had feelings for Fiona. But it wasn't until now that he realized he was
madly in love with her. If something happened to her, he would punish himself and was ready to die for
her. If he couldn't protect his own wife, how would he be any good at life?
"Charles..." Eric suddenly cried from the other end of the cabin with a newspaper in his hand. "Spencer,
did you really ask me to look into this man's background? He is the country's top jewelry tycoon!"
Spencer turned to look at him when the headlines on the newspaper's front page caught his eye.
"Show it to me!"
"What? All right..." Eric handed the newspaper to Spencer. "Why did you suddenly ask for a
background check on him?"
"It's nothing serious." Spencer grabbed the newspaper and scanned through the article.
The headlines on the front page read, "Charles Wen, the jewelry tycoon and CEO of ZR Company has
been researching on a program in T Country. It is reported that ZR Company is intending to take over
Hu Group, the largest jewelry retailer in T Country. This project will have a big impact on the economies
of these two countries."
Spencer wasn't interested in the business news. However, the mention of T Country was something
that made him curious. 'Charles is also in T Country! Or is it all just some coincidence?'
His eyes shifted to the photograph of Charles next to the article. Spencer crossed his arms and
frowned. In the photograph, Charles looked confident, but there was a strange look in his eyes that was
enough to make someone's skin crawl.
Spencer placed the paper on the seat next to him, suddenly recalling something. He remembered
Charles being there at the airport when they attempted to capture Black Widow from X. He had been in
the surveillance room when he saw Charles on one of the CCTV screens. He wasn't quite sure back
then but now he was certain.
Spencer inhaled sharply, coming up with a bold plan in his mind. Spencer said to Eric in a shaky voice,
"Looks like we have to dig deeper and find out Charles' true identity!"
Seeing the smug look on Spencer's face, Eric nodded. "Okay."
Their plane flew across the clouds towards P City in the bright sky.
Two days later, at Cherry Grove Residence
Fiona had starved herself for the past two days. She didn't eat for fear of being drugged by the food.
She lay in the bed, gasping like a dying person. Her lips had turned pale and she barely had any
energy left in her for anesthesia.
She had planned to find an opportunity to convince Charles to let her out, but he never showed. Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
In the living room,
Charles smashed the glass in his hand on the floor when he saw the servants bringing back Fiona's
untouched food. His face darkened as he roared, "Call the doctor immediately and follow me upstairs!"
"Yes, sir."
Then, Charles sprinted upstairs. He had been patient with her for almost three days and hadn't
knocked on her door even once. Now, he had to take charge, or else she would die of starvation.
He kicked her door open with a bang. Fiona opened her eyes weakly. She saw Charles standing at the
door and shriveled with disgust.
"You are such an ungrateful woman!" Charles tried to calm down. "Do you think you can do anything
just because I'm soft on you? I'm warning you. My patience is very limited. Look, I don't want to be
violent. But if you keep testing me, I'm going to force you to do what I say."
Fiona trembled with fear.
"Sir." The doctor walked in and greeted Charles respectfully.
"Yes, please go ahead." Charles pursed his lips as he pointed to Fiona. His anger was still burning
inside him.
"Yes." The doctor nodded as he pulled out a syringe from his kit and filled it with the liquid from a small
vial.
"No! Don't!" Fiona began struggling, trying to fight the doctor's attempts to inject her with the liquid. Her
eyes were red with terror. "Charles! Please! Just kill me! I don't want any of your drugs!"
"Drugs?" Charles was shocked. He smiled coldly with a sad glint in his eyes. "Do you really think of me
as a monster? Tell her, doctor. What's the injection you've been giving her?"
"Miss Ji, this is just glucose and saline. You haven't eaten for two days. You're dehydrated as a result of
starving. This should help you get better."
"No. I don't believe you!" Fiona shook her head. She stared at Charles with caution. She felt like crying,
but she gritted her teeth and held back her tears.
'Fiona, if you cry, you lose,' she told herself.
"You don't believe me?" Charles burst into laughter. He took a step forward, reached out his arm, and
grabbed Fiona by the neck. "You're refusing a toast only to drink a forfeit!" He tightened his grip around
her neck as he spoke.
