Chapter 2 She Gave Birth To His Baby
Chapter 2 She Gave Birth To His Baby
"You can rest here. I need to go to the washroom. I'll see if the stewardesses can find any medicine too." Seeing that she hadn't fully recovered, the man allowed her to lie down in his seat for a while longer.
Nancy didn't refuse. She couldn't stand up yet.
She had severe anemia when she was in prison. Soon after the birth to her baby, she was thrown into prison. She was not given any time to rest and had subsequently fallen ill.
After he left, Nancy was alone with the doctor's acquaintance, who was seated in the same row.
She had overheard this man calling the doctor a busybody. She was wondering why he was so judgmental.
"Sir." She squinted slightly, trying to see him better. The more she looked at him, the more she felt that his face looked familiar.
Suddenly, memories from three years ago gushed out like a flood. Her sister, Jenny Luo, had sent her to his bed. He had behaved like a crazy beast and held her captive so she couldn't escape at all.
She was still thinking about the glass of water laced with drugs. Her half-sister had whispered in her ear, "Sister, bear a child with Ryan Jin for me."
After that, she had passed out. When she woke up, she was already in Ryan Jin's bed.
Nancy vaguely remembered the scent of his body as well as his deep, dark eyes.
He never even looked at her.
But his face had been burned into her memory.
"What's up?"
"Nothing..." Hearing this, the man folded the newspaper and put it on his lap. He turned to look at her.
Immediately her face darkened. She wanted to say something, but her throat felt constricted.
Stunned, she clutched the corner of her coat tightly, unable to believe what she was seeing.
Their paths were not supposed to cross again. Ryan Jin wasn't supposed to exist in her life. If Aron Gu hadn't sent her to Ryan Jin's bed, who was drunk at the time, they might never have interacted with each other.
Nancy had only heard his name before that fateful night. The terms "financial giant" and "supremacy" always followed any mention of his name.
More importantly, Ryan Jin kept a low profile and rarely appeared in public, so it was impossible to get accurate news about him.
It was this same powerful and mysterious man, who had sex with her in a drunken stupor, three years ago. And not only that, but she had also given birth to his daughter.
"Kevin didn't save you so that you could accost me," he commented rudely and went back to his newspaper again. He became engrossed in the news, determined not to talk to her anymore.
She was stunned. Did he think that she just played a trick to hook up a man in the first-class cabin?
Her mouth twitched but no words came out.
This man was handsome, but he was unbearably arrogant. She made a face and left the cabin.
When Kevin Lu came back, he was puzzled to find that his seat was empty.
"Where did that girl go?" he asked, setting down the medicine that he had procured. He glanced at Ryan Jin, who still had his nose buried in the newspaper.
"She's gone."
"What happened? Did you scare her away?" Kevin Lu smiled and took off his suit jacket.
"Her disappearance has nothing to do with me," Ryan Jin stated without looking up from his newspaper. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Kevin Lu took a deep breath and gave up trying to find out.
It was already midnight when they arrived at the destination. The plane landed at X International Airport.
Nancy walked out of the airport alone, carrying a large bag. She didn't know where to go.
It was such a big city and she had no place to stay.
Winters in S City were cold, wet, and miserable. It had started to rain before the plane landed. She waited at the intersection, but no taxi came. Too many people had arrived at the airport and there were not enough taxis.
Waiting for a while, Nancy just gave up. After all, she didn't even know where she should go.
Just then, a dark blue car stopped in front of her. The window slowly rolled down. Once again she saw the kind doctor, who had helped her on the plane.
She had a bad memory, especially after having been in prison for so many years. Now she was still a little hazy, so it took her a while to recognize Kevin Lu.
He was a handsome guy, who looked calm and serene.
But when she saw the other person beside him, the blood drained from her face.
It was Ryan Jin.
He didn't bother to look at her. He was staring straight ahead, lost in thought.
"If you don't mind, let us give you a ride." Kevin Lu was a warm-hearted person. After all, she was a patient in his eyes. Kind doctors like him were a rare breed.
Nancy just stood there dumbly, neither saying anything nor accepting his offer. She just shook her head hard.
But Kevin Lu was already stepping out of the car. He held the door open for her. "I just don't want my patient to faint again. I might come across as a busybody but at least I'm not a bad person," he said, shrugging.
He gestured for her to get in.
Nancy frowned as she didn't like to be forced to do anything. But three years ago, she was forced to give birth to that child by Jenny Luo and her stepmother.
She looked at Ryan Jin, who still did not turn around to look at her. Meanwhile, she thought of the child she had never met.
Nancy chewed on this for a while and finally got into the car.
She was keen on finding out where her child was.
Then Kevin closed the door and walked around to the seat next to the driver.
Nancy tilted her head to look at Ryan, but he ignored her existence and didn't even try to look at her surreptitiously.
'How could someone be so arrogant,' she fumed internally.
"Hello, I'm Kevin. I'm a surgeon at the central hospital," he introduced himself and handed a business card to her. Nancy accepted it without introducing herself.
All her attention was focused on the man beside her.
Ryan was getting increasingly irritated by their conversation. He tugged at his tie to express his annoyance.
Suddenly his mobile phone rang. He took it out of his pocket. Nancy observed his long, slender fingers.
"Hello."
She sneaked a glance at him out of the corner of her eye and found that his face had softened, unlike the hard expression he had on the airplane.
He looked relaxed, like he had let his guard down.
Nancy was caught by surprise.
"I've left the airport; I'll be home in an hour."
Kevin turned around and asked, "Is that Vicky?"
"Baby, I'll be home soon," Ryan said, ignoring the question and ended the phone conversation.
His gentle tone piqued her curiosity. Nancy looked at him and took a deep breath thinking, 'It must be a woman.
What kind of a woman could soften such a cold and fierce man?'
